Felt a little let down by that Horna LP... Might check out In Vain although I wasn't terribly impressed with the first record.

DEATHCRUSH

Death metal the brutal way, in the vein of Hate Eternal, Nile, Behemoth... look at this:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Deathcrus ... 5834192188

Reminds me of Pessimist a bit actually, didn't get too much of the clunky chugga chugga nonsense Behemoth plays, or the technical stuff Nile does, at least from the one song I sampled, will definitely check it out fully.

The second Ramlord album is dope, and it's just as good as their first if not better.

Pre-orders for Peste Noire's new, self-titled album just went up. Already reserved my copy of the deluxe edition. I'm sure it's going to be more than worthwhile.

Cool, I didn't even know that was on the cards. I'm excited for that big time.

Haha wow, jumping into the praise pretty strongly there. I wasn't too keen on Non, does it do anything different?

lol i am a bit obsessed :d i would say it combines the best bits of both albums, its nothing ground breaking but it just sounds good to me it sounds more like their debut than it sounds like Non but it also brings something the band really hasnt done before, i think i like it so much because it has a different atmosphere to their previous albums

I know they're not on the archives, but the new Clutch album, Earth Rocker is quite excellent. For those unfamiliar with the band, they play a kind of Southern/Bluesy/Rock fusion. This is probably they're "heaviest" album in a long time and it's one of very few albums this year that I've listened start to finish multiple times.

I'm already completely over Sulphur Aeon's album. I suppose I was too quick to praise, it doesn't have much replay value.

I'm finding the opposite, actually; it still crushes me each and every time I spin a track off it. Not a single weak link in the bunch!

Recently got a review copy of the new Spiritual Beggars album Earth Blues. Having never listened to Spiritual Beggars before, I was quite impressed. Nice mix of bluesy stoner rock and Deadwing-era Porcupine Tree, with some doomy moments mixed in for good measure.

Clutch are awesome! I don't know their discography very well. One of those bands I keep meaning to really check out. They're actually from my neck of the woods to which is pretty cool. That song is awesome, I'm going to buy the album right now.

Both Hateform's Sanctuary In Abyss (which, by the way, is totally fucking amazing, get it), and Lord's Digital Lies.

I liked Saxon's Sacrifice. Good traditional metal, they're not trying to act as if they are 20 again, but instead go for mature, 'set up' sound, while still having energy and everything it takes to write some decent metal.

Thyrfing's new album, De Ödeslösa might be the best out of Viking metal this year

Have to check it out, their latest was crap though. New Graveland is coming out this year, so it's likely to have a hard time.

Listening new Tribulation now. I cant fucking believe how much it is growing on me! It sounds like a death metal version of Oder Arcarum - Outrageous Reverie Above the Erosion of Barren Earth, I really hear some similarity with this (also great) album.

Can't stop listening to In Vain's (Norway) new album Ænigma... far surpasses their previous material and is just such an excellent release. It's refreshing.

Gotta echo the sentiment on Wormed's newest. It's pretty killer.

I can't wait to get a hold of this. I've heard nothing but good things about it, and I really liked Mantra.

By the way has anyone had a chance to hear the newest Agrypnie? From the samples I've heard it sounds INCREDIBLE.

I loved their first album too.. They have evolved from a unique sludge rock/stoner band to a more stoner band with a very few of the sludge elements that made the first album so enjoyable and unique. It's merely a decent album, but doesn't stand out amongst the crowd like the first one did

I found the new Agrypnie very disappointing to be honest. Barely any black metal elements, just bloated uninteresting progressive metal. You'll probably like it if you enjoyed their last EP though.
On the other hand, In Vain's is a killer album

If you're a fan of doom metal best check out The Prophecy's new album Salvation, released way back in January. They have a nice mix of doom with sprinkles of prog and death.

Albums I'm digging:
1. Omnium Gatherum - Beyond
2. Suffocation - Pinnacle of Bedlam
3. Portal - Vexovoid
4. Intronaut - Habitual Levitations
5. Amiensus - Restoration
6. Nails - Abandon All Life
7. Darkthrone - The Underground Resistance
8. Soilwork - The Living Infinite
9. Paysage d'Hiver - Das Tor (probably the BM AOTY)
10. Boris - Praparat
11. Amaranthe - The Nexus
12. Stratovarius - Nemesis
13. Cult of Luna - Vertikal

Looking forward to: (don't want to make my post too big so I'll do this part horizontally) Alice in Chains, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Megadeth, Killswitch Engage, Scale the Summit, Animals as Leaders, Pelican, Russian Circles, Amorphis, Karnivool, Cynic, Volbeat, Stone Sour, Tesseract, Trivium, Immolation, Scar Symmetry, Ihsahn, Behemoth, Mastodon, Mouth of the Architect, Rosetta, Children of Bodom, Haken, Moonsorrow, Ne Obliviscaris, Arcturus, Alcest, Ulver, Protest the Hero, Amon Amarth, Within Temptation, Sirenia, Kylesa, Summoning, Dark Tranquility, Kataklysm, Altar of Plagues, Born of Osiris

I'm surprised to say it as I'm not the biggest fan of them especially the last few albums but I really like this new Darkthrone record. The 80's metal vibe is awesome, this might be my favorite Darkthrone record they have done in terms of gratifying metal riffs and singing. At least the best since Panzerfaust for me and I've given it about a week and a half to digest it.

Haven't been able to get into the new Wormed as much as the debut. Doesn't sound as oddball/unique. I'll keep trying.

Listened to the new Thyrfing once and it didn't leave any impression at all. Vansinnesvisor is one of my favorite viking metal albums. I'll try again but not expecting much.

Enforcer, Manilla Road, Portal, Monomakh, Sacriphyx, Tribulation, Vorum, Krypts, Abyssal, Skagos...some stuff I've liked

I've heard a few songs on youtube....and yeah, not super impressed so far. I'll listen to them again to see if it grabs my attention.

But I haven't yet heard the new Nocte Obducta (Umbriel) which i'm hoping sounds more inspired than Agrypnie

Good luck with Nocte Obducta. Dunno what happened to them after their break, but they are certainly not the same band. I'm very disappointed with Umbriel.
Maybe I expected too much as they used to be one of my favourite bands
