According to Prophecy Records Facebook:

With sadness we heard about the death of former In the Woods... guitarist Oddvar A:M who also contributed to the Prophecy Productions releases "Three Times Seven On A Pilgrimage" and "Live At The Caledonien Hall. Rest in peace, mate. Confusion will be your epitaph, and today we'll be crying.

So put some "Heart of the Ages" or "Omnio" to remember this musician and this wonderful Norwegian band.

Damn, RIP. Heart of the Ages was brilliant, and it doesn't feel right to express my thoughts about later works at such moment.

It has actually been quite a long time since I have listened to Heart of Ages. Will be listening to that one today, always hits the spot when I'm in the mood for that sort of thing.

Omnio is the best work from the band, I'd say, but they were pretty consistently great throughout their short career.

That sucks. So young, too, barely 39.
HEart of the Ages and Omnio are among my favourites. RIP.

Damn, I was actually just listening to Heart of the Ages yesterday, what a fantastic band. Too bad, 39 is so young and some of the music he wrote was among my favourites from that style. I really do have to get around to giving Omnio another listen soon.

Never heard of the band. What would you compare the sound to?
Either way, RIP.

They are pretty unique and one of a kind. Each album is quite different but I'd suggest Heart of Ages first because that imo is their best work. Sort of epic avant garde doomy black metal but extremely unique and they got harder to categorize as they went on. I hear elements of a more romantic nature on Heart of Ages ala My Dying Bride but really just a tenuous vague connection and there is a lot more black metal emphasis on that record.

Take a listen

Sad to hear. One of my very favourite bands. Omnio was a masterpiece.
