Any thought on this band? I listened to various songs and felt quite enthusiastic.

Seems like their discography has two eras?

listened to an album of these guys the other day. Though there sound comes across as quite unique and the musics itself is not too bad, i won't be running out to buy anything of there's any time soon.

used to talk with one of the guys in the band online way, way back. Bit of a strange chap. The band didn't start off too well but some of their stuff became very unique later on...nothing quite like it out there that I've heard. Don't own anything though and haven't listened in years.

Could you please describe or comment their musical evolution?

Haha, my friend was also complaining about that when I played something from them a week ago, she just hated the vocals and was wondering what the hell this is.
I think they are aweosme.

The vocals are theatrical. I can't think of another vocalist who sings like this, except Famine from Peste Noire, who was obviously influenced by Woods of Infinity from the late 2000's on. It's funny to note how the songs from Peste Noire featuring Ravenlord and Melkor on vocals try to emulate WoI's riffing style.

I wonder who inspired the vocals in WoI? Early Ved Buens Ende?

Ljuset is one of my favorite albums ever, and the only album for which I can say that the lyrics, vocals and music are equally essential. Existential torment, perversity, seemingly drug-fueled abstract insanity, and absolute hatred for the self and for humanity are some of the themes here, but the sickening stories come together to form a whole that tells of a being that is wholly consumed by that which lurks in the very darkest corners of the human mind, that regular people have pushed back behind layers of decency, uniformity and normalcy, so thick that it almost ceases to be a part of them. A band member said in an interview that they make their music by simply opening themselves up and letting the madness flow out, and I believe them. It amazes me that someone who could channel such darkness of the soul as to write this could then go back to being a functioning member of society.

I like the band a lot but I can see how this is a big part of it. Unfortunately I can't understand most of it and wish there were translations available. This is also because the vocal style is not always my favorite (cramming as many words as possible indifferent to the rest of the music almost as if just shouting run-on sentences in a black metal voice), and would be more enjoyable if I knew what it all meant.

Love them, pure disgust in audio, I just wish I could understand the lyrics. Terribly underrated band.

Yeah, I like them. HeydÄ was a really good album - very creepy, with lots of echoey children's voices some unique riffs.
