I'm looking for some far out, Psychedelic Heavy Metal. Any genre's fine, and I don't mind if some Psychedelic rock or progressive rock gets in the mix. Bonus points if the lyrics are about transcendence, other realities, etc.

Oranssi Pazuzu, Virrasztók (lyrics in hungarian, about death), some (mostly mid-period) Amorphis...

Definitely agree on Oranssi Pazuzu. As far as black metal goes, Wormlust would be a very good suggestion. Their take on psychedelia is pretty darn terrifying. It makes me imagine having a very scary acid trip.

There is no shortage of decent psychedelic doom, but just for sanity's sake, I'll only list a few where the psych elements are very prevalent in the mix.

Zaum are a fantastic psychedelic/ambient doom trio from Canada. They're quite similar to Om (even in the name, heh), but a lot heavier on the psych elements.

Rezn are a stoner/doom band that are incredibly psychedelic sounding. Dreamy clean male vocals, tons of modulations and synth effects, trippy sounding clean guitars, etc. They're definitely one of the more atmospheric sounding bands of the style.

Ditto on Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard. Despite the goofy typical stoner-sounding name, they're actually one of the more sophisticated bands I've heard of the style. Dirty sludge riffs mixed with electronic sounds, keyboards, spacey clean sections, and ethereal female vocals. The latter really gives the music an otherworldly feel.

I see Zaum, which I like a lot, as caught between early The Wounded Kings and Om. They are not that similar to Om imo, it's heavier and less ambient.
There's a new track by the way: http://www.brooklynvegan.com/zaum-relea ... -pantheon/
