Help me with melacholic post-metal, that wander through Katatonia and doom realm, instrumental is better, can be post-bm, without too much shoegaze on it. Thx.

Maybe check out the Russian band The Morningside. First two albums are doomy post-metal. The third one is more post-bm; Katatonia is a reference they wear on their sleeve.

a more general rec would be to browse through the SLOWBURN catalogue: bands like Osoka, Fading Waves and others might do the trick.

I like Whales and Aurora from slow burn, also very much enjoy The Morningside, and Watered. Looking for good instrumental stuff. Anyone have candidates for the year?

I find the debut superior to all 3, with the secong being the least interesting.

It's a shame they are instrumental because they have something really cool going on but it's clearly missing vocals.

Amazing mix of dark jazz and post-rock, a recommended listen:

And this hardcore/post-rock band too, songs are short but good:

A couple of good things from Belgium

Mother, Sludgy Post-Metal

Eleanora, more toward hardcore/screamo

I remember listening this one, almost gave up after half the first track but thankfully the tempo went up, Losing Her and Alcoholism are the fastest and most interesting ones. Their other albums also have some really nice songs.

Some post-rock from this year:

Haven't had time to check out all of these yet, but Lowering sounds really cool. That vibe is pretty much up my alley.
