I'm looking for war-themed death metal bands. Somehow I like that combination...any recommendations?

I'm familiar with Bolt Thrower, Hail of Bullets, 1914 and God Dethroned. Minenfeld and Minenwerfer as well, although they are more on the black metal side.

Some research made me discover Just Before Dawn, Panzerchrist and Decaying. Those bands are awesome!

Any more suggestions?

There must be quite a few bands that have dabbled in war theme just for one or several albums, like Malevolent Creation - Warkult, but I have a hard time coming up with more; the usual suspects have been named already.

Asphyx has had plenty of war themed songs at least on their later albums. Hail of Bullets spilled over I guess, so might be up your alley if you liked them. I suppose they used to have some on the earlier ones as well.

Ripped to Shred's has a lot of war themed songs from an Chinese perspective.

Oh, and of course Memoriam.

See spoilers for youtube links.
Spoiler: show
Panzerchrist

Jungle Rot

Trenchrot

Ares Kingdom

Bodyfarm

Deserted Fear

Truppensturm

Atomwinter

Many of these bands are influenced by Bolt Thrower and the likes with the pummeling groove. There is always Amon Amarth as well, and many bands influenced by them. A lot of war themed death metal bands out there.

I've been listening to Bolt Thrower for almost 30 years now... I don't mind other bands taking over their flag

Maybe check out Masacre, specially the Sacro album. Solid, triumphant marching riffs a-la Bolt Thrower, but with a nice dose of Maiden-esque melodies.

German band Fearer's latest album 'Backfire' is a kick in the spleen. It does have Bolt Thrower-ish heaviness, but it also reminds of another German DM band, Fleshcrawl.
