Hi, I'm looking for songs with retrospective lyrics about days gone by, remembering own youth or childhood and songs about passage of time, growing old, etc... They don't have to be metal songs, songs from all genres are appreciated. Some examples I can give are these songs:

- Death: Symbolic
- Bob Seger: Against the Wind
- Allman Brothers Band: Old Before My Time
- Bryan Adams: Summer of '69

Thanks!

Judas Priest - Victim of Changes is sort of this, from the point of view of an alcoholic.

I know some of those songs, but a lot of them I haven't heard until now. Keep 'em coming!

The most obvious:

Mercyful Fate - Time

One beauty of a song:
Gamma Ray - 18 Years

Gamma Ray - As Time Goes By
Actually, this is not about time going by :P But it's a magnificent song from an extremely underrated album (imo anyway) and the finale is majestic with Scheepers soaring. Also, Uli Kusch is awesome.

Halford reminiscing:
Halford - Made in Hell

Megadeth's "discography/biography":
Megadeth - Victory

Blood of the Kings by Manowar is the same concept but not in a looking back way like Megadeth.

Toxik - There Stood the Fence
Exactly what you requested. The "ballad" of Think This. It's very nice.

Jeff Hanneman: Evil Notes and Sad Riffs
Chuck Schuldiner (Death)
Paul Baloff (Exodus)
Holy Terror and Keith Deen
Roger Patterson (Atheist)

Revelation's "Lost Innocence" is about, well, exactly that: the loss of innocence, and growing up too soon.

https://themenzingers.bandcamp.com/album/hello-exile

indie melancholic rock. This album is about getting old and losing sight of friends:

driving down 191, theres an old memory of someone / as a little white cross just popping out from the bend / I was getting fucked up with a high school friend / wondering where all the good times went /

oh, hello exile / now I imagined her memory would fade in the void / she’d only reappear every now and again / i’d smile at the thought of us / go back to my day / but that was purely wishful thinking / oh, hello exile.

lol I believe there's a misunderstanding. Tonatiuth is referring to the deathcore band, not anything related to your music.
