What are some of the weirdest metal bands out there?
I am looking for recommendations. Thanks.

Depends what you mean by weird, but these were the first ones that popped into my head:

Botanist - The Suicide Tree/A Rose From the Dead
Lugubrum - De Vette Cuecken
HAH - Hypercut

Maybe something by Sigh, The Meads of Asphodel and Mr. Bungle as well.

Definitely going to second the bands mentioned so far. I'll add Solefald, Azure Emote, and Master's Hammer.

Maybe not the weirdest song by Solefald, but theres really too many good examples in the discography.

All three Azure Emote records are great, and theres weirdness throughout.

And of course Master's Hammer. The first two albums are great, but I love the strange vibes on the record from 2012.

I also have to mention what I consider the vastly unknown/underrated record from Damned Damned Spirits Dance called Weird Constellations. The whole record is great. It always made me think of a mix between Arcturus, Devin Townsend, and Mr. Bungle with blast-beats thrown in here and there. I highly recommend it.

One not listed as yet I know is Chryst, and their only album 'PhantasmaChronica'. Avantgarde stuff, that jumps between styles, and often outside metal music.

There are plenty of weird bands out there, but Unexpect is the first that comes to mind that hasn't been mentioned yet:

Dødheimsgard might fit the bill. Doesn't get much weirder.

Oksennus - Sokea idiootti
Chaos Echoes were like really out there post-black/death stuff
Howls of Ebb - Cursus Impasse: The Pendlomic Vows
