Not metal, but I am sure some metalheads enjoy stuff like this.
Recently I heard this song by Uruk-Hai (Burzum) which sounds like gothic rock/darkwave. Varg was a fan of these genres and it really shows here.

Here are similar songs from the gothic rock/darkwave genre:
Spoiler: show

Do you know anything that sounds like this? I already know about the neoclassical darkwave/dungeon synth/dark ambient stuff, I am not really looking for it. I am looking for more of an atmospheric gothic rock sound with guitars.

TRISOMIE 21 could fit your request:

CANAAN too has the same depressive and ethereal feel:

Thank you. The first band doesn't really sound as dark as I want it, but Canaan is closer, I'll check them out.

Actually this is psychedelic noise rock, but might fit:

If you like FOTN, I recommend you wholeheartedly to check out Merciful Nuns. It's all very good, and they have that kind of atmo tracks too:

About Canaan; their disco is not so regular, it's a bit of a hit-and-miss affair, it can sound a bit cheesy at times. I'mnot a fan, but of all albums, maybe listen first to A Calling to Weakness, it's interspersed with ghastly ambient tracks.

I see how it might fit, but the "noise" part probably destroys it for me. :)

I heard they have something to do with Garden of Delight, but I never really checked them out. Probably should listen closer to both bands. This song is close to what I want, but there aren't any guitars. For some reason gothic guitars fascinate me.

Gothic rock is such a hit and miss genre, it's much harder finding stuff you like compared to metal. The only band I consistently liked is FOTN.

well, FOTN are the best indeed, they have a meditative side that is quite unique, but still there're a few bands that take inspiration from them and that aren't lame at all: beside Merciful Nuns, you have Last Rites, Sweet Ermengarde, and Opened Paradise for instance...
As far as Modern Goth Rock goes, I love Whispering Songs, Ritual Howls and Long Night too, dark and thoughtful...

In all these bands you always have one or two moodier numbers that would fit your request. I couldn't point you directly to one of those though...

Thanks, I'll listen to these bands. I have heard about Long Night since their singer is the former clean vocalist of Tristania, but never really checked them out.
