Like the title says, I'm looking for some music similar to Cohen's albums around "Ten New Songs" era. Calm, slow, mellow tracks with deep voice, perfect for drinking morning coffee. My favourite songs of his are A Thousand Kisses Deep, In My Secret Life, By the Rivers Dark, so I hope you get the point what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

you know the usual supsects, like Tom Waits and Nick Cave, for.ex?

Chris Rea has a lot of songs like that, too, and deffo the voice, but he also has more uptempo songs on most of his albums... (and many albums in different styles)

Mark Lanegan and Jeff Klein are some less obvious ones that might still work.

You might enjoy Iggy Pop's album Préliminaires

What about Alain Bashung French singer/songwriter? L'imprudence is his opus magnum.

Cristian Kjellvander
But if you listen to this while drinking your morning coffee, you might be stuck at your kitchen table, pondering what could have been...

Yes yes, I know about Waits and Cave, no worries about them. Sadly, Lanegan and Klein are not what I'm looking for.

Well, this is... interesting. Not exactly what I had in mind, but I'll give it another chance. Very strange album for Iggy Pop.

Not bad, but it feels a bit boring (for me at least). It doesn't have the same depth as Cohen's music. Also, I just can't feel it on french language, sorry.

This is fantastic! Once again, it's not exactly what I was looking for, but it's really damn close. His voice is great and it blends so well with music. What are Kjellvander's best albums? I'd like to explore his music a bit more.

Also guys, keep the recommendations coming!

Ok. Thinking of another project:

Theo Teadra and Blixa Bargeld (from Einstürzende Neubauten)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7F3-oD92Mck
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0t6Bu7uuPAw

As expected, it's totally not sentimental, but very refined and sensitive. Some excellent music.

And Lou Reed? Might revisit Transformer....
