Hey all!
I'm sitting here listening to Manowar and Ironsword whilst reading The Complete Chronicles of Conan and thought "hey, I really want more Sword & Sorcery Metal"..
So I've been searching the net a little while but find it a bit difficult to find some good stuff, so I thought maybe you guys have something to recommend?

I'm sorry if there is a similar thread to this, I did a search and looked for it but I couldn't find anything.

Thanks!

Do you want metal that has the Conan styled lyrical themes? Or just music that fits the epic heavy metal vibe?

Here's one for both: https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Hy ... 3540279423

Hey!
Actually both, doesn't matter if it's Conan or Sword & Sorcery lyrics in general.
I'm more for the Power/Speed Metal genre rather than than Black Metal when it comes to these kind of lyrics.

Thanks, I've actually checked them out earlier today and they are really cool :)

Gravedigger's Excalibur album is a good choice here.

Yeah I do own both Grave Digger's Excalibur and X-Wild Savageland, unfortunately both of them are back in my home town so I can't go get them now :/
Eternal Champion is great too!

Thank you guys for all the great suggestions here :)

Pardon me if this post misses the point of the thread. I'm not 100% sure what you mean by sword & sorcery metal (just fantasy-themed, or..?), so I'll just throw my first associations out there:

This is a local band (to me) that I discovered when I was a teen, and I was really blown away at the time by the fantasy atmosphere and melancholic sound of the band:
Pyramaze - Melancholy Beast
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YO9iXYz ... sh-Da_YB-8

Check out their second album as well - Legend of the Bone Carver.

The other album that I instantly thought of, and which I am sure you're already familiar with, being that you are Swedish, is this:
Dream Evil - Dragonslayer

Toxic_Avenger, what I mean by "Sword & Sorcery Metal" is not just fantasy themed, but more towards the Sword & Sorcery theme that some bands has gone with.
Therefore I do not mean stuff like Rhapsody of Fire (even though I love them), where maybe only their first album was close to S&S topic.

Thanks for your tips :)
And yes I'm familiar with Dream Evil and that album ;)

I think the Doomsword discography could be good here. Also two Gates of Slumber recoreds - "Conqueror" and "Hymns Of Blood And Thunder".

I second Doomsword and add this very Conan-indebted band, Keen of the Crow:

Here's a few more suggestions:

Smoulder
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Sm ... 3540439938 (Very good female singer)

Legendry
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Le ... 3540408803

Isen Torr
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Isen_Torr/24117

Evangelist
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Ev ... 3540330516

There's also the earlier incarnation of Eternal Champion, Graven Rite (apparently still active too):
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Gr ... 3540352420

For the epic title track on this demo, The Summoner's Pit, I do believe Jason Tarpey based his short story entry into Swords of Steel on that song. This right here (it's the last short story in this anthology):

Visigoth's albums are worth a listen when you're in the mood for this sort of stuff.

BAL-SAGOTH made the most epic fantasy metal ever. Their first album is pretty black metal, the rest are best described as symphonic even though I don't like to use that as a genre. If you like power metal try their Power Cosmic album if computer drums don't bother you.
