I like space. I like astronomy. What about metal that's spacey? By this I mean stuff exhibiting this kind of quality:

-usually long songs
-proggish tendencies, also probably post-ish stuff from what I've heard?
-a slightly aimless/dreamy feel to the composition/riffs
-heavy emphasis on atmosphere--stuff that sounds as if it embodies the dreamy/ethereal nature of the cosmos
-lyrics that tends less towards violence or hate and more towards wordy pseudo-philosophical rambling/word salad
-a tendency towards clean/acoustic sections, or in general just not aiming towards total sonic heaviness and more towards a "dreamy" feel, almost?

What bands I do know that are like this tend to be -core (example, example 2). I'm looking for METAL like this. Black, death, prog, I don't care, as long as it has this sort of aimless atmospheric astral quality to it. I assume a lot of what I'm looking for will be post-black/prog stuff.

what about oranssi pazuzu's debut muukalainen puhuu? granted, this is a very particular pick, but in a way it suits your description.

Urfaust. Empty Space Meditation has some of those elements you're describing.

Darkspace might be what you need.

Midnight Odyssey's Funerals From the Astral Sphere and Spectral Lore's album III seem to be what you need: spacey, dreamy and very long

Also i would like to suggest Tangerine Dream, even if they are far from metal music just doesn't get more spacey than the album Rubycon. Grab your headphones and enjoy the trip

These threads always fill up with black metal.
Here's some stuff you might like that are, for the most part, not Black Metal:

BEING - "A Glorious Dawn" should scratch that itch for sure. The rest of the album, Arrival should contain more as well.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-VQ-2xZThQ

Let's do another from that album, BEING - "Cosmonaut"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Qwoe4yUmHg

Marionette - "The Lie". That middle section... Ooooooh. So nice.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZkA7KksQIU

If you're fine with instrumental stuff, most of Widek's material fits this pretty well.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggaz5w6JFGM

If you don't mind some low growls, Aegaeon's music is a must check-out. This shit ticks ALL the boxes you laid forth. I'll be extremely surprised if this does nothing for you.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tc8aid6N5YY

Khonsu - "Army of Me"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hWon-oEaAA

Astronoid - "Incandescent" especially from the 3 min mark.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ1QdlTpxHM

Astarot - "Gateway Microcosm" It's BM, but it might do the job nonetheless.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOKCEZg0klg

Kataxu - "In My Dungeon!" Technically, NSBM, but damn it's good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9u_sA_eXWo

Surroundings - "The White Tile Floor" -core. I hate the vocals, but still good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NaDHYmEXm4

Disperse - "Dancing with Endless Love"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEOahMpEFL8

If you don't mind some futuristic sci-fi elements, Sybreed - "Isolate"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8-o-rFqVHs

As for things not yet mentioned, I'll suggest the entire Mithras discography. Specifically the second record, "Worlds Beyond the Veil". There is truly nothing that compares to this in terms of overall atmosphere, intensity, energy, theme and execution, and I say that about Mithras as a whole, although "Worlds..." is perhaps the most elaborate manifestation of the vision. Start with that record, move forward if it resonates. The first record - "Forever Advancing Legions" is glorious as well. You can hear where things are going upon listening to it, but its certainly the most traditionally death metal sounding release of theirs. Still a masterwork.

Khonsu is mentioned above, yet the second record - "The Xun Protectorate" is not. It should be. Its like Arcturus mixed with Behemoth mixed with Depeche Mode (the clean vocals!) and is a sci-fi concept record. Great music, great concept, and great artwork as well.

Arcturus is of course another worthy mention.

I will second Midnight Odyssey. Check out all of it. Dead Can Dance, Enya, and Summoning filtered through an astral, ambient black metal. His work is masterful and otherworldy.

Samael's Passage & Eternal albums come to mind. They're advertised as industrial but I found them to be too clean to be real industrial. Definitely futuristic, but more Star Trek than Bladerunner if that makes sense. Check this out - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGRPUlB70rQ
Most of In the Woods.... 's discography seems to fit the description also, especially this track - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCXUubXeL4s

... And Oceans might also be worth a try, they sound similar to those two Samael albums. random examples:

I see no one has mentioned Strigae yet. A new band of total Darkspace worship.

Progressive rock with influences from 70's bands. While not metal I believe you should give them a listen and tell me your opinion.

Atoma have some of the spaciest soundscapes I've ever heard, it genuienly makes me feel like I'm floating in an endless sea of stars. Post-rock with a metallic tinge and one of my favourite bands.

If you like what you hear listen to the full album, I've never experienced anything like it.

Maybe a little more brutal than your wanting, but Convulsing can get a bit spacey at times.

Captain Obvious here!

Cosmic Sea by Death is exactly what you need minus the lyrics cause it's an instrumental.

Surprised by the lack of Vektor in the thread, their entire discography has plenty of sci-fi / space references, the following is a prime example and a magnificent epic to boot. For your specific request for spacey/atmospheric parts, wait for the 6:30 minute mark...

Vektor - Accelerating Universe

How about some spaced-out thrash... like DBC, Voivod, and Obliveon?

There's a Mare Cognitum/Soectral Lore 2xCD split coming out.

"Wanderers: Astrology Of The Nine" is a thematic journey through our solar system, illustrating and anthropomorphizing it into mythology which parallels our own humanity with the science of these mysterious formations".

Well, no one's talked about the Black Metal band Trist yet, so here I am.

The first half of their album Hin - Fort consists just of Fin, which is an hour-long track of space ambient- the Black Metal starts riding atop the ambient just before the fifteen-minute mark and lasts for most of the duration.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_Ah4cVlBR0

The sole member of Trist, Tristain, was also a member of the Black Metal band Lunar Aurora. I've never actually listened to them, but it seems they have a similar cosmic theme.

https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Lunar_Aurora/3233

Also, I know you already know about Space Themed Core, but since you didn't post an Aversions Crown video in your examples I will assume you don't know about Aversions Crown. Even if you did know about Aversions Crown, I would assume you didn't know about their track Parasites. It is one of the best Deathcore tracks I have ever heard due to it's lush, vast cosmic atmosphere- and it has a great crescendo in the middle. I recommend this to everyone in the thread who can stand to listen to breakdowns in any capacity.
