Im here to ask if anyone would like to help me figure out some source material for this random theme Ive concocted. Essentially Ive always been interested in the earliest strains of metal, yet Im not always a big fan of all that exists in that realm.
For what its worth, I am not into KISS, but I love Black Sabbath. Im usually into way more extreme stuff like death and black metal, but I have this strong urge to have more metal in my life that hits the same tones that these songs do.

Judas Priest - Victim of Change
Mercyful Fate - Curse of the Pharaohs
The Lord Weird Slough Feg - Sky Chariot
Rainbow - Man on the Silver Mountain

I know this board is an immense resource and that a lot of your tastes would likely fit the bill here. Essentially Im looking for vintage metal. I will add some Black Sabbath to this list fer sure. (theres too many amazing songs to pick just yet)
Essentially I'll make a mix of this at some point down the road, but in the meantime I just want to spend some time hearing your favorite takes.

BTW: I want to keep it away from classic rock, but only by a few degrees. (I guess they should be from the MA at least, but Im not gonna criticize anyone suggesting a banger of an outlier)
I dont care if it gets a bit doomy, but I also want to keep a good sense of pacing.
For a modern style that I sort of associate Id say that Satan has really impressed me. Tanith as well. Eternal Champion and Sumerlands, but Im looking for bands from the late 70's to early 80's.

I appreciate any time any of you take! I'll be active in the thread and listen to all suggestions.
THANKS!

Wow. thanks! Both of those are awesome. I like how they both sound like they could be going much faster, but they have this mid paced lurching feel.
I wasn't sure about Crescent Shields vocals, but once the riffs start flopping around his voice sounds perfect.

I'll have to dig into these some more. I'd never heard of Crescent Shield before.

What about Manilla Road... Does that fit with these? Ive never spent any time with them.

Yeah, Manilla Road is sort of similar to Slough feg without the references to philosophy. Slough Feg even covered a song of them by the name of Streetjammer from MR's first album. You should check out Manilla Road . I'd recommend you start with Crystal Logic.

I can't recommend Sabbrabells enough.

Very much in the vein of Sabbath but with their own unique spin.

Wow. that rules. Ive seriously never heard that name before. Added to the listening pile!! Love the cover artwork too.

And thanks to Nightbreaker33 for the Manilla Road entry point! Pretty excited to dig into these guys finally.

I was thinking the Rush song Modern Man would be a nice fit with some of this stuff..
