As a teen I really enjoyed the death metal band Hypocrisy. A lot of their albums are about aliens- Roswell 47, world invasion and things of that nature. Are there any other bands similar to Hypocrisy? Topic or sound-wise.

You may want to give Running Guts' "They know that you know" a listen. Good stuff!

Pretty obvious, this is the first ever cosmic-alien-galactic death metal album in history

Augury's Concealed. Their best work, imo.

Maybe, Timeghoul for otherwordly Science Fiction themed death metal.

Xenomorph is an obvious one.

Cosmic Putrefaction is one of the more recent bands.

Cosmic Atrophy is another Alien themed one.

Artificial Brain too

Not sure how you feel about the really brutal death metal, but Wormed definitely fits. Not my style of brutal death, but they are highly regarded in their niche.

A lot of other tech death bands, particularly the Canadian scene like Archspire, and Beyond Creation may interest you.

I've got two recommendtions which are both pretty different: You could definitely give Tomb Mold's "Planetary Clairvoyance" a spin, they've got some pretty sweet riffs on that one. A bit more hyper than Hypocrisy, but very sci-fi focused.

Another one is Lord of War's "Suffer". Their band page does put their genre as a form of death metal/deathcore, so it's a really different style than Hypocrisy, but that album has a lot of alien invasion/conspiracy vibes and I remember jamming out to it in high school, so I definitely recommend it.

Here's one band sounding very Hypocrisy-esque: Souldrainer from Sweden!

I'd suggest The Faceless - Planetary Duality; Necrophagist-ish technical death with some Cynic-ish vibes;

and if you're open for something more on the outerworldly side of black metal , I find the mezmerizing scifi black metal band Nutrition worth a mention;
