Are there any band that plays some NEW metal genre, original, creative, unconventional, that aren't a copypaste?
Influences are normal, obviously, but I want to listen something of different.

This album: Devin Townsend - Empath
Correct me if I'm wrong, but surely there's nothing quite like it?

Spoiler: show

Meads of Asphodel is pretty good. You should listen to Sonderkommando.

Dripping is a weirdly unique one from the early 00's, definitely a band I wish had more copycats (or maybe they do and I'm just not aware of them?). Those 808 bass drops put most -core bands to shame.

As far as recent stuff goes, maybe Within Destruction - Yōkai ? It certainly felt "different", but mostly not in a good way IMO :D I for one much prefer their old "slammy deathcore" sound compared to the "weeby djentcore with trap beats" or whatever people call it.

White Ward. Post-black mixed with noir jazz, maybe on the depressive side. The best black/jazz execution I've ever heard.

Cirith Until. You'll never hear another band like them.

The first band that popped into my head was !T.O.O.H.! and their album "Order and Punishment". it sort of sounds like Macabre got into a head on collision with Master's Hammer whilst both listening to Cynic.

That one is very interesting, I liked some of Devin Townsend's work with Steve Vai, particularly on that Sex & Religion album.

I'd almost call it a bit more like prog/symphonic with more extreme tendencies if I had to take a gander at what it was. I think this one maybe takes the cake for sure as far as interesting non-genre defining band stuff goes, but I do see quite a lot of over-arching symphonic themes in some of those songs, but tons of crazy good stuff!

You should have a listen to Igorrr. It's something different. It's a marriage of several styles of music, but for someone who wants to listen to something else but has a link with metal, it's not bad. If you like the freedom of Mr. Bungle for instance.

Since the last poster mentioned Igorr I could also mentioned Whourkr who are similar and have some of the same members, as well as somewhat similar bands like Baring Teeth, Dendritic Arbor (more blackened grind), Jute Gyte, Maudlin of the Well, and of course the VERY weird and incredible band Unexpect.

Then there's S.U.P. and Superation who are very unique and should be mentioned way more often.

I could think of plenty of other stuff too. Maybe I'll add more later if I think of them.

Gods Tower - The Turns
Guys are super unique. They play music which is close to doom with lots of folk elements while folk melodies (which are usually played with traditional folk instruments) are being played with lead guitars here. For example, in tracks 2, 3, 4 they make guitars sound very similar to Scottish bagpipes by using lots of tapping in their riffs.
Somewhat repetitive in terms of rhythm composing (especially towards the end), but damn you absolutely have to give it a listen.

Haiku Funeral - atmo spacey ritualist mish-mash of various influences (indus - black - doom):

Lychgate - experimental psychedelic black doom (think Void Of Silence/ Thy Catafalque /Unholy/ Black Lodge... )
