It's summer and it's gotten hot, real hot. High energy? Summer fun? Get out of here with that lizard shit, you fucking reptile! Summer is fucking brutal, especially right now during this North Western American heatwave (stay safe and keep hydrated y'all). I'm looking for real feel-bad type music for the season that makes you feel like you're stuck out in the open with the merciless sun bearing down at you.

Stuff I'm looking for should be heavy and punishing with a slower tempo. Sludge and doom are super fair play. Stuff that sounds like Neurosis, Thou, Mizmor, Hell, or Inter Arma (who have a very on point music video). Even straight up drone is very appropriate here. Sunn O)))'s Flight of the Behemoth album actually encapsulates this feeling almost perfectly.

No power metal, thrash metal or anything with a lot of energy. Nothing that sounds sad. Just heavy and nihilistic.

Eagle Twin - Raw, droney stonery doom

Drought - Arid, desert-themed drone/doom

Thrones - Weird, noisy, Melvins-y drone/doom/stoner stuff

Not easy to get hold of, but Godgrind's Demo CDR (1 song, about 22 minutes long) might be up there.

Check out Zoroaster's album Voice of Saturn. The whole album makes you feel like you're melting. For example, this song is practically made for heatstroke weather:

Godflesh's first album...

Massive, sludgy, hypnotic and mechanical wall of cold beats and crushing sounds!

Why so gloomy? Krokus will cheer you up!
