Looking for bands like Nails, some might describe them as "False Grind". Harsh vocals but not necessarily growls (growls are ok though).

Other bands that scratch this itch for me are Baptists and Trap Them.

Some examples:

Trap Them, Young and in the Way and Full of Hell are probably the obvious answers for this, but I'm not a great fan of either so I can't really recommend.

Maybe try The Secret.

Love The Secret, good shout.

Full of Hell tends to get a bit too far into the noise realm for my everyday tastes.

YAITW is a great rec, I've listened to a bit by them but will go deeper.

Cheers!

The last Nails album is basically a Hatebreed album with blast beats so you might like bands such as Jesus Piece, Harms Way, weekend nachos, Leeched or Fuming Mouth.

If you like their older stuff maybe check out bands like Dead in the Dirt, magrudergrind, sex prisoner and cloud rat

You need some All Pigs Must Die in your life. I would especially recommend the first two albums and first EP. Hierophant would probably scratch the same itch as well. I've only heard their Mass Grave album but I'd say it's worth checking out.

Try Ground. Not on the archives, but definitely fitting the trope.

I've been a Nails fan for a while, and found Nasum to be right up there with them. Comparable sound and they more than match Nails' brutality.

Yea, Mate. Love IW - agreed, bit more grind but definitely in the same vein.

Nice rec!

NAILS was one of the first hardcore/grind bands to start using the HM2 distortion pedal famously used by classic Swedish death metal bands like Entombed and Dismember. This aspect of their sound is typically what makes it so addicting to listen to. Other modern hardcore/death metal bands that have this sound are Fuming Mouth, Gatecreeper (way more death metal), and Trap Them

Bang on, well said. Good examples too. I'm less a fan of Fuming Mouth, love Trap Them and Gatecreeper though.

Revenge. Although they're more on the war metal side, they still resemble the harsh sound similarly. I would also argue that Revenge is a lot more enjoyable if you're looking for intensity.

Ran across 'Old Gods' - which includes Jeff Tuttle from DEP.

Seemed like they fit the bill here, bit of HM2 and who doesn't love when a band incorporates wrestling?

Discovered the band Narrows recently, fronted by Dave Verellen of Botch fame.

I think they belong in this thread.

Yeah, sometimes they slow down but when they're grinding they have that feedback-heavy nails-ish sound.

Nails also did a split with a band called Full of Hell, who are very similar to Nails but more riff-oriented rather than powerviolence/grind

Love Martyrdöd already, good to see 'em here.
