I guess this would be called Avant-Black/Doom or something like that.
Some examples of what i'm looking for:

If DSO could just write songs in this vein...

Botanist maybe? I can't stand the voice though and I'mnot alone in this case:

Ehnahre's Old Earth comes to mind as well; droney Avantgarde Metal complemented with brutal guttural vocals, technical drumming, and dissonant guitars, quite hectic and unexpected: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpE27bhdjw0

Lol, I wasn't expecting to find my own band in the OP. I actually came to recommend my bandmate's other band, Psic├│sfera:

Their third album is gonna be even better, so stay tuned for that.

Perhaps Gravenchalice's latest LP, Samael:

Maybe even Labor Intvs, though it's less melancholy for certain:

But really, you can't go wrong by browsing OdiumNostrum's channel and checking out what he's uploaded.

If you're willing to step outside of metal, Rautavaara beat everyone at writing slow and dissonant somber drama by several decades. It even has as many time signature changes and virtuoso passages as you can ask for:

Damn, are you from Hellige? Crushing music dude. I'm too lazy to make a review but that's just great stuff.

I appreciate the support and nice words nonetheless, thanks!

On topic, if you're willing to forego the bm vocals, there's -core out there that should scratch the itch. May take some time to grow on you, but it's well worth diving into the genre.

Koloss' LP has more metal in it:
