Hi,
Im looking for heavy metal bands with small death metal elements like rare growl or screams and breakdowns. I'm trying to avoid bands with only growls like most of melodeath and common heavy metal with only cleans vocals.

Regards

Not the best example, but off the top of my head the band Scuurvy. They have the whole pirate shtick (being in fact one of the first bands of the "pirate metal" wave of the mid-to-late 2000's), but one song in particular employs some unexpected growls in the chorus:

Look out for Sacred Steel''s Slaughter Prophecy record. When epic Heavy Metal gets some Possessed edges.

This but also go for "Iron Blessings" - some songs have death metal-like riffage and drumming and there are growls here and there.

Crypt Sermon’s vocalist uses growls, as accents, occasionally. They’re heavy/epic doom.

Thought of The Unjust's Hammerhead. It's heavy / speed metal, but there are many instances when the vocals go from common singing to growls. They're brief, but I was taken aback when I first heard them. It wasn't often by 1987 standards that I heard those kinds of vocals from outside of '80s black/death or even thrash metal bands.
