Wait, i couldnt update my last post, but i am updating my request. I am looking for a lot now...

1st, i am looking for some Black Metal similar to Lord Belial, and Dark Fortress, i guess you could call it melodic black metal, but still brutal.

2nd, I am looking for some bands similar to Absu, and Cobalt, meaning, i guess some kinda weird, experimental stuff... but not completely insanely crazy, just... a little different.

3rd, i want some bands similar to Oranssi Pazuzu, meaning, black metal with elements of 60/70's psychadelc rock/prog rock.

4th, some black metal similar to Melechesh, meaning, black metal, but with middle eastern/egyptian sounding riffs, but not folk metal, just middle eastern riffs.

5th, some stuff similar to Destroyer 666, so some really good thrashy black metal.

If anyone answers this, thanks in advance.

Are there any Celtic Frost (not Hellhammer) worship bands, particularly Morbid Tales era?

Have you listened to any Gravewurm? The production is quite a bit nastier (such a crunchy tone) than what C. Frost had going on, and the vocals are a lot more oriented towards an "extreme metal" sound, but I think the worship-riffs are more oriented towards the Frost material instead of the ultra-simple Hellhammer stuff. The guitarist for Gravewurm is absolutely amazing at coming up with these stomping, groovy riffs that make you go "god damnit, I could have come up with that!" even if you don't play guitar.

Edit: Thought we may as well try one other band. Not a worship act, but there is a pretty heavy handed C. Frost influence mixed with death metal. Look into Pentacle's "Under the something or other".

I don't know why it takes so long for No Colours Records to send me a PayPal docket. If they wait too long, I might put off purchasing the item because it's not so cheap to begin with.

Ok, seeing as I got no replies, I'll try for something easier.

I'm looking for black metal similar to Agatus and Avzhia. It should be epic with keyboards, and clean-sung parts (especially choirs) would be great. Mid-tempo is a must, not too fast! Thanks in advance! Don't recommend me anything too obvious.

Hello. Updating a request I made almost a year ago, without receiving a single answer... T.T

So, I'm still searching for bands like Bethlehem, Ondskapt, Silencer (for the vocals mainly, not the music itself) and Code. Something maniac and agressive ; a virulent form of neurosis transposed into music.
Cryfemal's "Apoteosis Oculta" somehow matches the kind of music I'm looking for.

I should probably mention that I hate depressive black in general, and that the production matters for me if the album was recorded after 2000.

Edit: Also looking for very good black indus bands in the vein of Thorns.

WrathOfVishnu> 1) If you don't know Limbonic Art, you should definitly try their early stuff.
2) Hmm... I'd say Spektr, Dodheimsgard, Code, (V.E.G.A.) and Manes.
3) The only band that came to my mind while reading this is "Ved Buens Ende", though it doesn't exactly correspond to your request. But you apparently appreciate the experimental / avant-garde stuff...
4) The Ruins Of Beverast for some of the oriental inspirated riffs.

Alright so, I'm looking for atmospheric/symphonic black metal along the lines of early Dimmu Borgir and Emperor.

I'm not really into black metal but I sometime come across something I really like. Nemesis Divina by Satyricon is one of them. Could anyone recommend me some similar black metal with atmosphere, not too reliant on blast beats and also something that doesn't sound like it was recorded on a tape recorder in one of the members garage.

Its not too similar, but try out the Straasha/Numenor split. That should be up your alley:thumbsup: It is epic and has the clean sung parts, no use of choirs though.

Alright, I'm looking for Black Metal with depressive lyrics (suicide, isolation, defeat, and of course depression). I don't want Depressive Black Metal, I'm looking for fast tempo and I'd prefer if it wasn't incredibly repetitive. As for production value, I have no prefence, but I don't want production that's even bad for Black Metal. Any recommendations?

Xasthur clones? Preferably more "Nocturnal Poisoning" era, with all the fuzz and everything.

I'm a complete newbie to black metal. I have listened to stuff that is like black and is considered first wave or whatever but never past that. I'd really like to see if there is something I like in there even if it's just a band or two. I'm looking for something with all right production, pretty nice solos, stuff on the fast side. Preferably lyrics that aren't satanic or anti-religion. Before you get all worked up about this I'm cool with lyrics like that every now and then I have my fill of bands who use these lyrics though and want something different. This isn't required but if the music has any plain heavy metal or punk qualities too that would be awesome.

Bands like black metal I like:
Black Messiah
Early Sodom
Aura Noir
Skeletonwitch
Not necessarily looking for bands like these. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.:D

Alright, I have two requests here.

I want some slow, yet, menacing, evil black metal a la "Return of the Freezing Winds" from Carpathian Forest, particularly the one from the Bloodlust and Perversion demos. I think a few Marduk songs from Rom 5:12 have a few songs like this, slow, yet, menacing and evil. I love it! If anybody can help me with this, that would be great.

Next! As everybody who knows me, I worship the band Aaskereia. Well, apparently they are a Summoning [Lugburz] worship band. I listened to that album, and I can really see where they get it, and I love it! I'm not really sure how to describe the sound at the moment [a bit whacked out in the head right now..], but if there are any bands that sound like Aaskereia or the album they worship from Summoning, it would be much appreciated :)

I need help remembering a band name. The band was obsessed with witches/witchcraft and had a somewhat extensive discography. They were generally very well rated, but I cannot remember their name no matter what I try.

There are quite a few good black metal bands you might want to look into. My personal favorites are Leviathan, a one-man project that started out okay but progressed beautifully as it began to incorporate more dissonance, and Judas Iscariot, another one-man project that played a very traditional, straightforward style of black metal beautifully. However, I'd be able to give you better recs if I had a sense of your taste in black metal.

I'm not gonna go into description for most of these bands, because I would go into alot of detail and it might be a big post... haha, so I'll give you some names to look into.

Krieg, Teratism, Sapthuran, Nachtmystium, Leviathan, Judas Iscariot, Demoncy, Absu, Black Funeral, Grand Belial's Key, Kult ov Azazel, Typhus, Astral Luminous, Crimson Moon, Vesterian... etc.

Quick question - are any of the Summoning demos worth downloading? If so, which ones are the best?

Try Sear Bliss, Dissection, Sacramentum, Finsterforst (black folk), Windir, Catamenia, Rotting Christ (especially the new albums for good productions), Moonsorrow, Mayhem (mainly DMDS album) early Satyricon, just various quality acts off the top of my head, see if any of these float your boat. I highly rec you try the early Burzum albums, might take a few spins to get into but once you do you will be sold, and be accessible to most forms of black metal!! For a punky feel I would rec Impaled Nazarene.

I listened to most of the bands. Not exactly what I was looking for but I liked Windir the most. Dissection was pretty cool too. Kinda weird both of those band's singers are dead. Both weren't spot on, but they were pretty good. The others didn't really click for various reasons. I though I'd mention that my favorite genre is thrash if that would help.

Love thrash myself man, but have not explored too much blackened thrash sadly, keep meaning to explore it more though, but try Destroyer 666 great blackened thrash and one of the most well known, Necrodeath, Witchery and NIFELHEIM (SWE). Love Windir good choice, similar bands to them would be Vried, Sigtyr, Feigd and closest soundwise would be Mistur, who are about to release their debut album in a month are so, one review has give it 10 outa 10 already so I have high hopes for it.

Farromir - I could probably help you out with that one.

Try some of these bands, they mix the perfect blend of black and thrash metal [IMO]:

Aura Noir, Nocturnal, Nocturnal Breed, Devastator, Nocturnal Graves, Witchmaster, Desaster, early Sodom, Absu, and Destroyer 666.

More black then thrash:

Witchaven, Vulture Lord, Nifelheim, Impaled Nazarene, Gospel of the Horns, Fuck Off And Die!, Bestial Mockery, Invocation War, Tormentor, Sabbat and Abigail [Japan].

Hope that helps?

My personal favorites are Leviathan

I've always preferred Lurker of Chalice myself, so I'll recommend them whilst I'm at it. I have heard that the last Leviathan album sounds a lot like a Lurker of Chalice piece, so I'll have to investigate further into the matter. :)

USBM has a lot of unrecognised gems that people, seemingly, choose to ignore because of some stupid perception about the ENTIRE scene (WHICH VARIES, PEOPLE!). So, since you've given a very vague request, I can only give you unrelated recommendations; Peordh, Astral Luminous, Night Conquers Day, Benighted In Sodom, Chaos Moon, Falls of Rauros, Wrath of the Weak.

I already have Aura Noir(great band) and Sodom(My Favorite band love the early stuff too). I tried a lot of the bands. Nocturnal is freaking awesome.

Xasthur clones? Preferably more "Nocturnal Poisoning" era, with all the fuzz and everything.

Bumping this for theposega because I too want some Xasthur clones.

And here is a bump for my requests...

Haven't heard those songs, but from what I can remember, the last song from Old Wainds' albums and demo may fit in the category, it's slow for sure, more repetitive and as evil goes, you can't go wrong with them.

Also, At my Funeral and Taste Defeat from Sigh's first album (Scorn Defeat) might fit too, but it's less... "traditionally" evil. Desolation of my Mind from Requiem for Fools is also real slow and evil, menacing.
