Hmm, what do they sound like? Any comparisons?

Like early Samael with a touch of greek school.
Also check out the Freezing Fog if you like total Ug primitiveness.

I wish that more bands like Clad In Darkness existed but I don't know any of them :(

I'll check out Wormtongue.

By the way, you may like Breath Of Sorrows. Just listen to them to their MySpace here -> http://www.myspace.com/breathofsorrows Listen to the third track ;)

avrlabel, I'll check out Heptameron as well.

Holy shit this is fucking incredible. I RARELY feel that an album is to short, but I would have loved for this to be about 10-15 minutes longer.

Opeth are the closest band to Clad In Darkness I can think of, actually. Wormtongue is close, but his songs actually flow together. I'll check out BoS too.

EDIT: It seems that Breath of Sorrows are from Las Vegas, which is only a six hour drive from Reno. Cant say I like the vocals too much though.

Opeth are indeed close but they're not BM ;)

BoS are a great band. Just listen to the third song :)

Hello everybody! I really need some recommendations and I think this is the right place to post this.

A few years ago I really got into black metal and still love the Norwegian sound of Burzum, Immortal, Gorgoroth, Darkthrone, early Mayhem and bands like Marduk and early Satyricon.

Lately I really fell in love with German underground black metal.

I speak of bands like Runenblut, which I enjoy very much, Satans Elite Kommando, Camulos, Dunkelgrafen, Helrunar, Graupel, Nagelfar, Zorn, The Ruins of Beverast, Lunar Aurora, Nebelmacht, Kermania, Aaskereia and even some less underground black metal bands, such as Endstille and Nargaroth, so I'd be very grateful for any kind of useful recommendation.

I don't really care about the production. Recommend me raw black metal, ambient black metal, pagan black metal or whatever.

I don't want any symphonic, industrial or technical black metal, and I'm not looking for blackened death metal or something in that direction.

Hope you can help me with this. Thank you in advance.

Aeba is a good band and you would enjoy them. Brocken Moon are excellent, too. Same with old Antichrisis and Nordreich. Aryan Blood, Eisenwinter, Holocaustus and Flammentod are considered good within the NS circles but I'm not sure about the quality of the information (National-Socialists tend to speak with good words for any band that shares their ideology). But basically the bands you listen to (especially Kermania and Aaskereia) are great.

Right, right. All 1500 or so of all the BM bands in Germany are/were all doing it for the money. :nono:

Never listened to Nagelfar? Their music goes quite well with German.

Deutscher geldgeiler Black Metal ist Krieg!

Seriously, how can you say all German black metal bands are doing it for the money? Every black metal band, which still has an underground status, doesn't earn very well as a band, and there are lots of German black metal bands, which are not even trying to get more and more cash. Believe it or not, there are enough black metal bands, which are playing for passion, trust me.

Yeah, I think Nagelfar is very good.
Hm, I'd add Gernotshagen.. not everybody's taste, but the band is quite unknown.
Stuff like Black Metal with Pagan influences. :D

Well, Woods Of Infinity is a weird band and I'm not too familiar with it either (yes, I know that I've missed several major bands that come from Scandinavia, it is my great weakness).

However, I think that you would thoroughly enjoy Aethyr. Here's their myspace -> http://www.myspace.com/aethyrproject

Alright, I'm looking for some extremely over-the-top melodic/symphonic black metal in the vein of Sirius. Are there any others out there, preferably with the magical feel that Sirius gives?

I do not know Sirius, but Stormlord (Italy) is pretty decent melodic/symphonic black metal, often with a "magical" feel to it.

I haven't heard Sirius, but I'll suggest two extremely flowry and sugary black metal bands: Profungus Mortis and Xanthos. Both use not just keyboards but also violins, and have really flowry leads everywhere. I really challenge anyone to find a more flowey band than these two, even in power metal.

Dark Tribe's In Jeraspunta is easily one of the best bm albums of the past few years. Genuinely insane and terrifying stuff. If you like Kermania, you might also take a liking to Bann, which is somewhat in the same vein. I wrote reviews for both of these on Diabolical Conquest if you want more info.

Other great German black metal is Bergthron, especially their first two releases. Kermania and Bann took a lot of inspiration from those, really atmospheric pagan/ambient black metal.

Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult is awesome epic and raw black metal with thrash influences.

Darkestrah from Kyrgystan (which is, if I recall correctly, technically part of Germany?) is pretty interesting stuff, pagan black metal that goes for a more shamanic vibe; their releases are also pretty varied.

Die Saat had some terrific early releases, especially the sophomore album "Der Schlachten Tribut", though lately they've gone into a more 'drunken viking' direction, which is a pity.

For really old-school stuff, try out the first few albums and demos of Eminenz, though be warned and stay the hell away from their albums on the Last Episode label, where they turned into cheap Dimmu Borgir knock-offs.

For more Darkthrone inspired stuff you can't really go wrong with early Graven and the related bands Vargsang and Nordisches Blut from a Graven ex-member. Although it's Darkthrone inspired, none of them are clone bands.

Other great stuff: Heldentum (related to newer Absurd, but much, much better), Throndt, Morrigan (like Bathory? Then you'll like Morrigan), Pest (probably the most interesting band with that name) and Zarathustra (epic black/thrash!).

Yes, the great German Reich is everywhere... also in Kyrgystan.

The band has resettled to Germany... and please consult a map and figure out where Germany and Kyrgystan lie. And we have already enought trouble with East-Germany... we do not need something less developed. Thank you.

Don't take it personally dude but that's extremely funny. However, they do recide in Germany nowadays so they're valid. They're also a great band.

I couldn't call them Epic Black / Thrash. That being said, I second them. They are good.

Good list by the way

Mors since you did well with the Desaster rec, I'll ask again, could you or anyone recommend some stuff similar to Dissection? Semi-melodic black/death/thrash metal... thanks.

I'm glad you liked Desaster. What song did you liked more?

On the Dissection rec now. Sacramentum, Vinterland, Midvinter are very good bands and have some similarities with Dissection. You'll like them. I've also heard Dawn being brought up when such style is being discussed but I have yet to listen to them. Try them though.

Other than that I guess that the Hellenic BM scene could appeal to you, too. For example get Necromantia's Ancient Pride. Shaman, which I'm currently listening, is a song that you would like.

I checked out most of these bands. I really, really enjoyed Aeba, Brocken Moon and Antichrisis. Eisenwinter are alright in my opinion, but I didn't like Aryan Blood and Flammentod that much, and actually I'm not really into that NSBM stuff, because national socialism has a wrong ideology in my eyes, but normally I don't care about vocals or lyrical themes. I have yet to check Nordreich and Holocaustus, but so far your recs are great, man. Thanks, dude.

I already know about Bergthron, Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult, Die Saat and Heldentum, and I think those are great bands, too. Escpecially Heldentum is a very nice one. I'll check out the rest of your recs. Thanks.

Mors since you did well with the Desaster rec, I'll ask again, could you or anyone recommend some stuff similar to Dissection? Semi-melodic black/death/thrash metal... thanks.

I think the title song might be my favorite, very simple and atmospheric type track. Thanks for the other recs btw.

Yes, the great German Reich is everywhere... also in Kyrgystan.

The band has resettled to Germany... and please consult a map and figure out where Germany and Kyrgystan lie. And we have already enought trouble with East-Germany... we do not need something less developed. Thank you.

I wasn't too sure about it, I just recalled them being somehow both from Kyrgystan and Germany, which is why I put that question mark there, no need to jump down my throat for it.
