Absolutely no idea. I googled it and I came up empty. However, this gives me the chance to check them out as they seem interesting.

Cool. I recentally got ahold of their "Triumphant Battles" cd from a pal, after searching nearly 7 years for a replacement copy for the one I foolishly sold.

www.dark-black.com (The bands self-released label, DemonSkull was on the same label) seemed to have disbanded years back as well.

I need some help (Mors Gloria, you're my only hope :D) on finding an italian band. They were on a recent italian black metal compilation, Signum Martis, from the Black Metal Invitta Armata, a group of italian bands (Spite Extreme Wing and Janvs among the others).

http://www.signum-martis.org/index2.htm

The release is very good (and I suggest you try it) but I want to find more about the band Gladio. Their track, Saturnaliorum Convivia, is great avangarde black metal. Imho, it is fucking brilliant. I couldn't find them on MA though, nor over the net.

Anybody knows anything of this band?

Great Italian bands for sure are Mefitic and Infernal Goat....

What have you heard of Graveland? You can divide his discography into four rather different sounding periods, so disliking one type of Graveland album doesn't necesarily mean you'd dislike all of them.

Leaving Graveland aside though, some of the other classics of the time are Infernum, Fullmoon and Veles. Of these Fullmoon is probably the one that sounds the least like Graveland, so it's worth checking out even for a non-Graveland fan.

For bands not sounding like Graveland, you could check out Ohtar and Selbstmord (they have mostly the same line-up, but sound different enough, Ohtar being the more melodic of the two, while the harsher, blunter Selbstmord has my personal preference).

I'll second mentions of Arkona, Gontyna Kry and Kataxu. Of Arkona, i'm most fond of their early material and their latest, though that's not to say their mid-period stuff isn't good. Gontyna Kry has strong material all across the board, though be careful if you're getting all their stuff, since there are one or two albums that are little more than repackaged compilations. I'd personally go for 'Welowie' and 'Krew Naszych Ojcow'. Kataxu made two split-albums with Thunderbolt; you'll want the one containing 'Roots Thunder', since the other one is quite abysmal. Their full-length is rather overbearingly synth-laden and I'd have a listen first before parting with my money if that might not be your thing.

For bands of the other pagan/nationalist Polish scene (though they've become pretty intertwined over the years) you have North, Venedea, Grom, Marhoth and Sacrilegium (and a whole bunch of other related bands, which you can of course find through M-A; I'm just listing the ones I've actually heard). North (pretty much the scene-leader, similar to Graveland for the earlier mentioned bunch of polish bands) started out as straigth-up Darkthrone worship and later started incorporating more of that typical pagan/war type sound. Being one of the oldest bands, they have that whole cult aura, and I rather like their old material, but they're not all that special. Venedae is one of the more well known pagan black metal bands of Poland, have a very well done folk influence in their work and all their albums are most definitely worth checking out. Grom and Marhoth sound somewhat similar to Venedae and are featured on a pretty cool three-way split with North called 'Sovereigns of Northern Lands'. Last but most certainly not least is Sacrilegium, who made one of the most evocative albums of the Polish scene called 'Wicher'. It's one of those rare albums that succeed in sounding traditionally folky without recourse to much outside of the actual guitars themselves. Most of their other music is nice as well and collected on the recently released compilation 'Embrace the Darkness'.

Marnoth, Sacrilegium and Neasit seem interesting and I didn't know them before. Thanks ;)

PS: Hefeystos is great, too.

I only knew them from their first demo which is pretty good. Didn't know they had that many full-lengths out. I have some checking out to do, thanks!

Another good polish band I just recalled is Galgenberg, though they only made like two demos before splitting up.

I'm sure there are a plethora of bands you could rattle off on this request, but I'm looking for energetic, pounding, riff-driven black metal a la Gorgoroth. I'd prefer higher pitched vocals like Hat was. I'm already a fan of Hegemon and several others, I'm just hoping I could get some recommendations on some worthy obscure ones.

What kind of riffs are you looking for? If you're looking for trad riffs the Hellenic scene is what you want. For Punky riffs check Nadiwrath, Dodsferd and M8L8TH. For experimental riffing check out the Lithuanian scene. Just clariyf what you want and I'll recommend stuff ;)

mornox, Galgenberg are indeed interesting.

Question: Mors_Gloria have you got a black metal blog or do you contribute anywhere, because i like looking for your recommendations, but they are sometimes hard to find.

by the way my favourite black metal blogs who really know their stuff, have useful descriptions (some), and are constantly updated; are

http://blackmetalownsyou.blogspot.com/
http://csendhajnal.blogspot.com/
http://www.dumah-grind.blogspot.com/
http://blackmetalwarez.blogspot.com/
http://dunkelheit616.blogspot.com/
http://lordmessiah.wordpress.com/
http://blacksun-rising.blogspot.com/ (for NSBM)
http://black-metal-again.nnm.ru/ (a Russian site, not sketchy though, you have to register to download stuff, but it is totally worth it, just use the search function because there are plenty of 'blogs' in the network)

I have a blog but I have to update it for a long time. Plus, it only has 3 albums (two Bornholm albums and one Pokolgép album). When my exams finish, I'll may upload a blog and dedicate to Hellenic Black Metal and various local scenes (Lithuanian, Latvian etc.)

Thanks for the blog links, though :)

Galaahd, I don't like Belphegor and Behemoth but you may like Kratornas, Morbosidad, Occidens and Goat Semen.

That site is highly recommended. Download Zephyroys and Dawn immediately all of you.

PS: Get Nergal and Epheles from that Lordmessiah http://lordmessiah.wordpress.com/) guy, too. Get Syny Severa, Wodulf, Fanisk, Winds Of The Black Mountain and Zurzir also.

From that NS one (http://blacksun-rising.blogspot.com/) get Kampf. They're great. However, it's kind of weird that they are on there because the band is apolitical. Who knows?

You need to check out Belenos, specifically 'Notre Amours Eternel' (collected on the semi-recent 'l'Ancient Temps'), 'Errances Oniriques' and 'Chemins de Souffrance' for some very well done dark/somber/nostalgic accoustics.

For classical piano pieces you could try out another French band called Mystic Forest and the related project Eikenskaden.

Morgul from Norway. On Parody of a Mass such can be found. The track is called Torn and it leads over to the magnificant track Ballad of Revolt.

Lord Belial's first two or three albums have some of that stuff, plus they're heavily influenced by Dissection.

Dawn from Sweden. They kick major ass ;)

You'd probably like V.E.G.A and Atomtrakt.

You'd like tons of Ambient BM bands. Dictator, Altoriu Seseliai (although a bit more proggy), Vinterriket, Paysage D' Hiver, Pagan Hammer, Frost (from Canada) Nordlicht and Reverorum Ib Malacht (although they can be hardly called BM) are great.

I am looking for the most extreme black metal you know. Some very cold black metal would be nice too, like Paysage D'Hiver, I already know Vinterriket, Darkspace and Walknut so don't post these.

I am looking for the most extreme black metal you know. Some very cold black metal would be nice too, like Paysage D'Hiver, I already know Vinterriket, Darkspace and Walknut so don't post these.

What's your definition of "extreme?" I'd say that LLN bands display the extreme hatred (no pun intended... they're way more hateful than Hypnosia anyway).

I know that Black Metal is extreme metal but I am looking for the fastest, and most hateful bands out there, that when you play them it feels like you are getting slapped in a face.
