yep they're pretty cool. I have spectrum of death and the album after it.

Yes, for anyone looking for brutal thrash, Morbid Saint is the first place to turn! Spectrum of Death remains my favorite thrash album ever. Pat Lind's vocals make me want to rip off my head and shit down my neck. Maybe I will if I can be convinced my effort won't be in vain...

I bet they really put Death on the spot back in the day when they opened for them. I don't care if Death were pioneers for Death metal, it would be hard to surpass the intensity of Morbid Saint!

The videos on youtube make them looking boring as fuck live. The instrumentation is incredibly tight but they don't seem to be getting into it that much. I'm not saying this was the case with every show, but the footage I've seen was subpar.

I can't believe that to this day, Torture is not mentioned in the same sentence as Morbid Saint and Demolition Hammer. Storm Alert damn it. Find it. Buy it. Give them money so that they might do a show in Boston. That way one of my life goals can feasibly be completed.

My money's on Enter the Chamber. I mean it's one of the few songs out there that manages to incorporate a bass solo that doesn't sound horribly out of place.

Was listening to Storm Alert all the way to Boston the other day. I really need to get hold of the older version though since my CD is the remaster. It does tend to drag a bit in places though. Hopefully that is fixed by the original recording. A show in Boston would be sick.

Diamond Plate is a great band to. THe EP is very good. Not a single weak track except for the intro.

i don't see the problem with remasters, unless they add a synth track like on those zz top records or something, whats the big deal?

It's just too polished, in an awful way.

8 good tracks vs. 11 bad tracks. Your choice.

Ok, I'm downloading the original recording now. The new one is good but I do seem to remember having mp3s before I bought it that were much better. Thrash should not be to polished. It ruins the listening experience and makes it sound somewhat flat. Torture is kind of like that but not as bad as something like Evile or other bands of the new wave on big labels.

I don't mind polished thrash, obviously nothing too polished but that works for everything. But I don't think Evile is too polished or cleaned up or whatever you wanna call it. I think they are obviously one of the most polished bands but I still really enjoy them. I find it hard that a lot of thrasher's don't like it for some reason, the vocalist is awesome.

It sort of depends on the sound the band is going for, honestly. I wouldn't say Evile's production is overdone because they aren't the type of band that would sound right with a raw, gritty record.

I like their full length, but I'm still pretty sure every single song is based on 80s movies.

Hmm, I have the re-issue .. funny, I always did think it sounded kind of modern for something from 1989, but it didn't occur to me that the re-mastering job would be so profound. Still, it sounds pretty good to my ears actually .. though maybe that's because I haven't heard the original.

You're god damned right its awesome. The consensus around here seems to be Kreator and/or Sodom > Destruction. I will concede that Kreator and Sodom have probably been more consistent through their careers, but they have never made anything that elicits the same physical response from me as Sentence of Death and Infernal Overkill.

It doesn't need to be gritty but I don't like it when everything in the mix sounds like the same level and there isn't really any punch to it. Dekapitator, Fastkill, Gama Bomb (first album), National Suicide are all rather clean and have a sound that grab me. I just get bored listening to Evile and end up switching to something else.

I also just got several Kreator and Sodom albums, so I guess I will have to reserve judgement about that comparison. If those bands are as good or better, than I'm really digging this Teutonic thing.

Destructionn has the best riffs out of the three on those early recordings, but they're just not as intense or wild as Kreator were, I think..

Everybody should listen to "Live without Sense" .. one of the few live albums in metal worth a damn ...

If its any of their early material you should be more than pleased. I'm a pretty big fan of the German sound, although I don't listen to Kreator as much as I should. Hopefully you got Persecution Mania or In the Sign of Evil by Sodom. Two very different records, but fuck I love them both.

I think that sums it up pretty well. Kreator had the proto-death insanity going on. Sodom were the "evil" ones. Destruction was just straight up riff-after-riff decimation.

I usually don't fuck with live cds but you've never steared me wrong before so I'll give that a listen now.

Destruction and Sodom > Kreator

I really can't decide who I like more, Sodom or Destruction. They're quite different really, and I haven't heard much of the recent Sodom stuff. I can say that Destruction should be praised, because despite the modern stylings of The Antichrist and onwards, they're still rifftastic and kicking arse (those riffs in Soul Collector, RIFFGASM!!!!!). Destruction are just plain awesome.

Okay, maybe I pick Destruction over Sodom. :D As Abominatrix said, Live Without Sense is beyond "fucking awesome."

Destructionn has the best riffs out of the three on those early recordings, but they're just not as intense or wild as Kreator were, I think..

Everybody should listen to "Live without Sense" .. one of the few live albums in metal worth a damn ...

I think that sums it up pretty well. Kreator had the proto-death insanity going on. Sodom were the "evil" ones. Destruction was just straight up riff-after-riff decimation.

I usually don't fuck with live cds but you've never steared me wrong before so I'll give that a listen now.

Haha, thanks .. well, you won't be disappointed at all .. niiice guitar sound (old songs with two guitars kick so much arse!) and loud, clattering drums .. I love it!

Have you heard Mortal Way of Live? Bombenhagel in a live setting is awesome.

Yeah, it's good to hear the Destruction classics done with the sound they needed . Another benefit of Live Without Sense is that the crowd is clearly into the band, an essential component of any live album in my opinion.

And with that post, I sleep.

To Exhorder17, whose obviously as much of Death/Thrash junkie as I am, I reccomend checking out Archaic Torse and Assorted Heap. Fuckin A' thats some great teutonic Death/Thrash, and no one barely knows them.
