My favorite album at the moment is The Horror by Tribulation. Are there any other albums with a similar sound and vibe?

Vampire - self titled
Repugnant - Epitome of Darkness

I don't think these two can top The Horror but they're pretty good.

Mortem (Peru) is the band for you. All their albums are good but The Devil Speaks in Tongues is my favorite!

Thanks. Mortem is good stuff. I can hear similaritiies with Morbid Angel.

If you can think of others let me know. Doesn't even have to be Morbid Angel like just death metal like is enough with an emphasis of strong riffs.

This is not a Morbid Angel inspired album. However I’ve been listening to it a lot lately and it’s a really fun listen. The group includes members from Vastum and Drawn and Quartered.

Luciferion is fucking legendary! Highly recommended!

Now, does anyone know of good 'Suffocation worship' bands like Inveracity (what happened to these dudes??), Disavowed and the like? My 'standard fare' would be the likes Deeds of Flesh, the first Decrepit Birth record, Disgorge, Gorgasm, Defeated Sanity, Antropofagus (these guys are fucking awesome!), etc. but does anyone else have any more recommendations? Thank you in advance.

I am going through Luciferion. That guitar tone is pretty neat.

EDIT:-I just finished listening to the Luciferion and now listening again. They definitely do have that evil Satanic vibe of Morbid Angel so thanks for the recommendation

I heard this years ago but never paid proper attention to it.

Now listening after following Luciferion's like bands.

I like it fairly only problem is it has some keyboards and irrelevant melody which dilutes the album slightly but the part in wihch the DM takes the lead is good stuff.

Give Scythe (USA) - Undead Infantry a go if you aren't familiar with them. Same drummer from the Inbreeding the Anthropophagi album. Production-wise it's not quite there but the overall sound is pretty close to Deeds of Flesh.

Severed Savior, Scythe

Brutality is Law I'm already quite familiar with but I do love it, especially when it flirts with borderline melodic passages without ever quite crossing the line over, really fantastic album. It's a really standout 2000s BDM album IMO. Glad to revisit though as it's been a while.

First time I heard Scythe and this is absolutely fucking perfect, hit exactly the spot I wanted and more. This is some real quality, thick death metal mayhem. The production's not quite there with PotW but the songs more than make up for it, and the production is at least still pretty solid. Thanks for the recs!

I'm looking for some very intense riff and blast beat and fast double bass based death metal which has consistent heaviness and quality songwriting.
Some examples may be Suffocation,Morta Skuld, Monstrosity, Cannibal Corpse etc.

EDIT:Gorguts,Vital Remains,Nocturnus,Incantation,Morbid Angel (all quality death metal)

Thanks for Slugathor and Ruinous. Drawn and Quartered I did not appreciate so much. The production is a bit too rough for this kind of sound. Cheers

I'm interested in any bands that have the same kind of fast-paced shreddy, slightly melodic, and riff-heavy feel of Xoth's Interdimensional Invocations.

Try Unflesh - Inhumation they aren't quite as shreddy as Xoth but are almost there IMO.

I'm looking for stuff with very intense riffing such as is found in Morbid Angel or Slayer. Just the same riff for 30 minutes is fine as long as it is intense.

The new Steel Bearing Hand album absolutely rips. Absolutely brutal death/thrash that pulls in influences from various other metal subgenres (doom, early black metal, classic heavy metal, crossover, etc.) and counterbalances the ripping brutality with surprisingly melodic leadwork.

Are there any bands that play a similar style of death/thrash?

Anything similar to The Grand Descent by Fuming Mouth ?

I've tried all the similar artists mentionned on the band's page but never found anything quite like this production level and these breakdowns (2:45 <3)

Looking for more bands/albums similar to Tiamat's Sumerian Cry. I'm already familiar with Treblinka of course, Cemetary's An Evil Shade of Grey, Expulsion's demos and Obsecration's Oblivious...

Looking for slam/BDM, the heavy shit. I'm having trouble finding anything that holds up to Autopsychosis by Katalepsy, that's by far my favorite BDM album I've heard so far. I also really enjoy Atrocities from Beyond by Analepsy. Otherwise, everything I find just seems to bland and monotonous.

Preferred musical elements:
- Most important: While I'm not looking for groove metal or anything, I really need some sort of moving or changing groove. It gives me something to headbang too, and, most importantly, keeps my interest. More often than not, what kills my interest in a band is when the entire song sounds the same.
- Lower guitars. Around drop A or B is usually good, but anything is fine as long as they don't sound really high. Tuning usually isn't a problem for me.
- Chromatic tremolo picking is great, but not a must.
- If possible, I like lyrics that aren't too violent. I'm generally into more poetic stuff, but I'm not gonna throw a fit if they're a little graphic. Not like I'm gonna understand them anyway.
- Relatively dynamic vocals. It's more interesting when there's something changing.
- Overall, I just need contrast. If everything sounds the same, and nothing stands out, it's just not interesting to me.

It's totally alright if some of the points listed above aren't met, I'm not asking for a miracle. To get an idea of what I enjoy, here's a couple songs I like:

I also have a simpler request, does anyone know bands with some good chromatic tremolo picking?

Maybe something like this.
Spoiler: show

I should probably specify that I'm not into old-school death metal. But other than that I don't care much as long as there's tremolo.

Cadaver from Norway often have good chromatic tremolo picking sections, you can try their album ...In Pains: if i remember well pretty much every song had at least one of those

Slightly off the mark: to me the kings of death metal tremolos are Molested, but they get oddly melodic at times even if they remain very oppressing. If you are interested check their album Blod Draum, it's an experience!
