Alright folks, hit me with some recs for death/thrash in the vein of Feared, and Hateform please and thank you. Equal parts aggression and technicality preferred, but if it comes to a split, aggression preferred. Death metal styled vocals preferred to the thrash bark.

Darkane - Rusted Angel
Deathchain - DeadMeat Disciples
Dew-Scented - Inwards

Any of these fit the bill?

I like Darkane, but they're more melodic death metal than I'm looking for. Deathchain is also awesome, but a bit more straight forward death metal than what I want, same with Dew-Scented. All three are awesome bands though, I appreciate the attempt.

For sure. I was unsure about including them since they sound very brutal death metal in a lot ways too. They're signed to Willowtip Records which specializes in a lot of cool death/grind (ie; Commit Suicide, Vulgar Pigeons, etc)

Aren't 'brutal Death metal' and 'Deathgrind' more or less the same or very similar thing though?

They are similar but I think they sound different enough to be their own genres. Brutal death metal tends to have chunky riffing, sometimes with an emphasis on "slam" riffs (Think Suffocation's Liege of Inveracity around the 2:50 mark)

Death/grind on the other hand is a nebulous catch-all term used to describe death metal with the speed and intensity of grindcore. At least that's how it is to me. I'm not the best at articulating genre differences so I'll provide a list of bands that I think are good representatives of each.

Brutal Death:
- Pyaemia
- Gorgasm
- Septycal Gorge

Death/grind:
- Nuclear Death
- Terrorizer
- Exhumed

Hope that helps!

Death metal influenced by Godflesh: First Dead World album.

Anyway, some stuff missing in your list that you may know and have just forgotten, or may yet have to check out:

God Macabre - goes nicely with Moondark
Cartilage - demos are kinda crummy but check out the split with Altar (Swe)
Shub Niggurath (Mexicans)
Mangled Torsos (first album)
Mythic
Cremation (guys in the band are famous for NWN bestial bm stuff but this band is Infester-like creepy dm)
Divine Eve/Crimson Relic
MORBIUS!!!
Winter of course, probably an accidental omission from your list
Luciferion is a less underground and less fast Fallen Christ, has some cheesy parts but a lot of good as well
Paralysis
Necrotion and Symphony of Grief (basically the same guys in both bands, former is more deathy, lesser more doomy)
Darkified - the name is dumb as fuck but I love their weird music
R'lyeh - also Mexicans
Transgressor
Blasphereion, because why not
Corpse Molestation - pre-Bestial Warlust, has a very deathy EP that's like a less doomy Disembowelment
Speaking of Disembowelment, the first Sinistrous Diabolus demo is like a carbon copy
The previous unreleased Necrotomy EP that was later released as "Doors of Perception"

I'm looking for something similar; old school death metal that relies on simple riffs yet has these epic, expanded compositions that easily take you on a journey. Think of stuff like Runemagick's The Supreme Force of Eternity, Edge of Sanity's Unorthodox / The Spectral Sorrows and The Chasm.

Still looking for recs related to this previous post, please and thank you! I found Mors Subita through some serious deep diving, but some more in that style would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah there are similarities.I would have gone in the Six Feet Under direction. Don't know if it's accurate though.

I'm looking for some modern death metal with fast tempo, small deathcore influence and very nice HQ. Best example is Dyscarnate and Vitriol

Man Must Die - No Tolerance for Imperfection

There's some core influences no doubt, but its mostly kickass tech-death played at blistering speeds with great, nuanced songwriting.

So years ago I heard a band that sampled horror movies in a Apknite's video, one of their songs, in particular, had --> "If you die first, I am definitely going to eat you, but the question is, if I die, what are you going to do? Bon appétit... Eat or die." <-- Searched everywhere for this but until this day I cannot find it...Anyone might have a clue what band this could possibly be? Thanks in advance

^The movie is definitely Ravenous. I have it on DVD. Great flick! But I think he's asking for which band uses that quote in one of their songs - of which I have no idea (sorry!).

EDIT: I just searched for "metallum ravenous movie sample band" and found this band that uses a quote from Ravenous (according to the notes). Is this the band?

What are some death metal albums that have been released this year that would appeal to someone looking for something in the vein of Pierced From Within-era Suffocation?

You'll have to give an example of what you considers to be epic death metal there.

Runemagick's The Supreme Force Of Eternity is a good example.

I've asked for something similar a while ago. Maybe Aeternus's Shadows of Old will do for you.

Is there such thing as death metal without double bass drums? Something played with a single bass drum. I'd like to hear some of that.

I'm looking for bands that resemble Portals to Canaan-era Deeds of Flesh. I've recently rediscovered my love for this album and hate that they were never able to continue this sound.

They defnitely have a unique sound of their own but the closest I can think of would maybe be Severed Savior's Servile Insurrection.

I like it. There's definitely a similarity. I do greatly prefer the Deeds 7 string guitar sound, but this hits the mark in my early impressions. I appreciate the recommendation.

Could I get a short list of some quality Epic Death and Epic Death/Doom?

Dude, the words ''epic death'' or ''epic doom/death'' mean pretty much nothing concrete. What kind of riffing, vocal style and song structures are you looking for? Besides, for the latter, you better try the doom/death metal thread.

It's hard to describe it because I'll know it when I hear it, but I don't know enough about the musical composition or structure to really elaborate on it. I'm thinking of riffing similar to Curse Of The Dark Rune by Runemagick.

Have you tried Bolt Thrower's 1991-1994 albums? Dominus's View to the Dim might be what you're looking for as well.

I was a fan of Suffocation years ago but didn't really get the chance to listen to their later releases. In the past few days I have heard their self titled album, souls to deny, despise the sun and I am fairly taken by the sound of these old monsters of NYDM.
Can someone perhaps suggest something that is inspired by them.
I am also listening to some Benighted which I really like.
Any suggestions in that direction are invited as well.
I also like Carcass.

Be sure to check out Suffocation’s “Breeding The Spawn” and “Pierced From Within.” Suffocation has influenced so many bands it is hard to name them all. Some of the bands I’ll recommend will seem very obvious as they are very popular. Here goes:

Nile is an obvious recommendation. I wouldn’t doubt you already listen to them.

I'm not a big Death Metal fan but I do enjoy the last 3 Dying Fetus albums and I would say they are my favorite Death Metal band (if Carcass doesn't qualify as DM). Can someone recommend something similar to Dying Fetus?

While I'm here, if you know of something similar to Surgical Steel as well, that would be nice.
