Are there any death metal albums released in 2019 that are in the vein of early 1990s era Death?

Is there any band out there that sounds like that early bestial black/death stuff of say early Sepultura, Sacrófago, Vulcano mixed with the doom-y feel of Autopsy?

Would Excoriate and Grave Miasma qualify as "close enough"?

I just sampled some of this band again and I'm not sure if they exactly match my request but they sound rather interesting anyway. Thanks!

Please recommend bands in the vein of early Obituary.

Here's my ranking of some favorite DM bands

1)Death/Slayer/Kreator
2)Obituary/Bolt Thrower
3)Morbid Angel/Jungle Rot
4)Benediction/Incantation
5)Six Feet Under
6)Carcass
7)Immolation
8)Suffocation

Abyssus

I've rediscovered a cool band myself called Lethal Curse from Brazil. It's got that Brazilian-esque chaos to it but also features some otherworldly moments ala The Chasm.

These two albums should do nicely.

Viogression - Expound and Exhort
Morta Skuld - Dying Remains

Maybe my curiosity got the best of me, but I was wondering if there's any brutal death metal out there that still has plenty of thrash influences. Something like Beneath the Remains meets None So Vile or something.

I really like Morta Skuld. Hey, thanks for Viogression. I really dig it.

Also, if you can recommend more albums in the vein of any of the bands I listed above that would be great. As you can see I'm still on the first few steps of DM :p

Since you like Bolt Thrower, I'd recommend checking out Slugathor and Desecresy. Slugathor is very heavily influenced by Bolt Thrower. After Slugathor broke up, one of the ex-members formed Desecresy.

Slugathor:
Spoiler: show

Desecresy:

Since you like Immolation and Incantation, I would recommend checking out Drawn and Quartered. Their sound is influenced by both bands. Very cavernous death metal.

Drawn and Quartered:
Spoiler: show

While I'm at it I also want to recommend Ritual Chamber. This band is composed of one member. The drummer from Drawn and Quartered and Infester. The music has an Incantation vibe to it. It is very dark.

Ritual Chamber:

Damn! Thanks. Slugathor was amazing. Desecresy was good. Drawn and Quartered I was always familiar with and always liked. Ritual I have yet to listen to.

Glad to help man. Always a pleasure to recommend kickass music.

You mentioned Carcass so I'm gonna have to namedrop Pathologist. They've only released two albums in the early 90's but its some of the most faithful and satisfying Carcass worship I've heard.

You also might enjoy The County Medical Examiners and Dysentery (Germany)

Yes, Pathologist was quite cool. But for some reason I was quite taken by The County Medical Examiners - Forensic Fugues and Medicolegal Medleys.
Maybe it has something to do with how they blend the grotesque elements into their choppy music. Once I started listening I hat to listen to more.

Having heard a bit more I can confidently say that the county medical examiners is a really good band. I just reviewed them on rateyourmusic.com
EDIT:-Damn this band is good. How did I not know of them before. Or am I just a budding goregrind fan
EDIT 2:-I was gonna mention how close they sounded to Animals Killing People.

That's interesting you compared them to Animals. IMO, they couldn't be any more dissimilar last time I listened. Guess I'll have to spin TCME again.

Also, I forgot to mention the of the following if you're still itching for oldschool goregrind

- Xysma
- Necrony
- General Surgery

Hi all, I'm looking to find death metal that sounds like it comes from a crypt. Think Disma, Tomb Mold, Witch Vomit, Mortiferum, Undergang, early Incantation and such.

Got a couple for you.

Oraculum - Sorcery of the Damned. Fucking good shit here. Brutal. murky and just awesome.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skO0hhD3Wx8

ZOM - demo. Irish insanity.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVjG82tn70U

Hic Iacet. You want a crypt sermon? Here you go.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4bsXbuLbIM

Backyard Mortuary - Lure of the Occult. Shit hot Australian DM. The vocals are something else, and it brings the fucking riffs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckcdTeAzGcM

Cadveric Fumes - Macabre Exaltation. French darkness. This demo rules hard.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eojQoG8KM8

Coffin Lust - Beyond the Dark. More Aussie stuff.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gN02TCAiQ28

Impious Baptism. More quality Australian filth.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8I4Mi15NlI

Sonne Adam. Morbid and crushing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5l0nUK-1r0

Ritual Chamber - Pits of Tentacled Screams. Damn good demo.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-rOiSBVUvw

Not sure if all these hit the mark, but there is quite a selection there anyway.

Dr. Shrinker. It's a different style than the bands you mentioned (that Incantation sound) but always makes me think of crypts and such so it might be something you're into:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3on_sCSEHI

Backyard Mortuary - Lure of the Occult - this one is similar to the stuff you mentioned.

Everyday I am gripped by something different.

Today I am listening to Vastum, Desolate Shrine, Ritual Necromancy, Necrot etc.

What else should I try?

@RippingHeadache, maybe you're right. Maybe AKP have nothing to do with TCME lol

I am looking for brutal death metal with the heavy blasting prototype of the song 'Deadfuck' by Gorgasm in their album Masticate to Dominate.

I've been out of the loop with death metal: what's really pushing the envelope of the genre these days?

Chapel of Disease
Geryon
Blood Incantation
7 H. Target

All four wildly different bands, but each have their own distinctive take on their respective sub-genres.

Pyaemia - Cerebral Cereal
Gortuary - Manic Thoughts of Perverse Mutilation
Incinerate - Anatomize
Septycal Gorge - Scourge of the Formless Breed

...should keep you sated for blast-heavy brutal death metal.

I'm on an old school DM/thrash kick atm
Could anyone recommend me something close to the first 2 Cancer albums? kinda thrashy DM where i can make out the lyrics in the vocals.
Doesn't have to be obscure as i'm fairly new to the genre. Cheers

The first two Morgoth EPs are great slabs of thrashy oldschool death metal. Some other stuff that might be worth checking out are:

Ripping Corpse - Dreaming with the Dead
Solstice - S/T
Cabal - Midian
Revenant - Reflections of a Dying World
Malevolent Creation - The Ten Commandments

Might be kind of a niche request, but I have a soft spot for records with two lead guitarists who each have their own distinct style of soloing-- sort of like what Death often did, though I tend to prefer the more brutal end of death metal. Any recommendations for death metal albums (whether brutal, technical, melodic, what have you) like that?

Can anyone recommend me the best, fastest and heaviest deathgrind bands? I dont listen to many bands with death and grind fused together, apart from Napalm Death

For sure. I was unsure about including them since they sound very brutal death metal in a lot ways too. They're signed to Willowtip Records which specializes in a lot of cool death/grind (ie; Commit Suicide, Vulgar Pigeons, etc)

Oh hell yes to CODC, their Human Harvest lp is imo the best Death/grind album of all time, and i will second the Willowtip Records suggestion they put out a ton of awesome stuff in the early 00's.

I'll mention Kalibas they were up there with CODC, also Cephalic Carnage and Terminally Your Aborted Ghost if you dont mind a bit of spaziness thrown in the mix.
