Funerus and Funebrarum. But you probably know about them.

EDIT: ah yes, try Decrepitaph. Old school as fuck.

Cool will do. Got any more? I'm hungry for this kind of stuff. I love the Hail Of Bullets album for example.

And still waiting for an answer on the first question. I NEED that Demigod CD! And if you find one - the Gorement compilation released on Necroharmonic would be a godsend.

You should check out Pentacle's latest one, I highly recommend it.

Know it love it.

Okay - back to the topic at hand - no new old school DM bands from Germany? None except Mandatory?! This is really impossible - I know Germany was not high on DM but jeez.

some good bands that may or may not have been mentioned are:

GODLESS RISING (original vox and one of original guitarists from VITAL REMAINS).
BLASPHERIAN (wes weaver from IMPRECATION).
CENTURIAN (holland area)
DISINTER(usa/chicago)

I would say go for Unconsecrated too. They have released an album in 2008 and it is old school as fuck.No match for early 90s giants but considering the 'N' no brutal death metal bands these days,This is something quite different and mre importantly the stuff you are looking for.If you liked Pentacle then you should like Unconsecrated too.

Btw i am assuming you have already heard Deathevokation's The chalice of ages. ;-)

Apparently DeathStrike "Fuckin' Death" (unabashed Celtic Frost worship), Speckmann Project (it's basically Master under a different name) and Abomination (pure thrash metal counterpart of Master).

ok, anyone who isn't a smart aleck want to answer?

Chill, man, it's all good.

And you will love the fuck out of Infester, if you haven't heard them yet. Check out HowDisgusting's review first if you have doubts, but this is the doomiest, filthiest death metal I've ever heard.

Convulse's World Without God easily takes the cake. Makes Autopsy and others look like flower metal bands.

Try Deteriorot and Anatomia, the former is kinda similar to Incantation, the latter is basically Autopsy worship.

I was wondering if you guys would be kind enough to give me a list of Central/South American death metal bands to check out. I know there are a few topics already on the board, but they basically recommend the same bands. I'd like to have a long, on-going list. Thanks.

I'll start with Mortem (the one from Peru, in case there is another from Latin America) and The Chasm.

If any of you could only recommend me ONE death metal band (other than Death), which one would it be?

Kind of a silly question. Morbid Angel?

Origin's "Antithesis" - feedback anyone?

IMHO it kindda sounds like a "If you've heard one song then you've heard them all" kind of deal... except for the last track, which stands out. Overall though it has a good brutal sound.

I like it, definitely one of the better tech death albums around.

It's okay, but I find it to be far too accessible. Echoes and III were awesome, just out-right bizzare chaotic death metal with riffs that seem go everywhere. Antithesis is a good effort, but imo, not their best.

Antithesis owns. Origin's best, and maybe 2008's best.

I'm liking Revocation's Empire of the Obscene (2008). Death/thrash with some tech thrown in, thrash vocals. Badass combination.

I have a request you guys. I am looking for a death metal band - and I do not remember the name of the album nor band. All I remember is that the band was probably Brazilian, their album cover was of temple/virgin/tomb being desecrated and they played more old school styled DM with very fast tempos but an old school even blackend feeling. Can anyone help me out on that one? I think the band is still active and it is a fairly new band. Rings a bell for any of guys?

Describe me what would be a good sound to skate to. Then I'll direct you to the bands that have that sound.

Well, something that can get you really hyped up, like a wall of sound, and doesn't really let up, but isn't really mindless screaming and blast beats either.

And I have a easier request then. There is probably a ton of swedish death metal specialists here. Can you shoot me with as many old school bands you can? And I mean old bands not new ones. Ones from the Dismember/Unleashed/Grave/Entombed era.

Stuff I already know/have: Entombed, Grave, Dismember, Unleashed, Nihilist, Carnage, Carbonized, Crypt Of Kerberos, Total Darkness, Comecon, Afflicted, Centinex, Leukemia, Grotesque, At The Gates, Crystal Age.

And I am SUUUUURE there are more. I heard there are tons of old swedish death metal bands.

And I mean bands with a full-lenght, EP or a compilation CD (like Grotesque) released. And I mean OLD bands - not new ones.
