Have you heard the new Homewrecker? It's not straight powerviolence, but it can get quite power violent, at times. And its got plenty of mosh to it. A few more suggestions.. though nothing as angry and heavy as Sex Prisoner, unfortunately.

Fatal Birth: http://fatalbirth.bandcamp.com/ <- Highly recommended. Easily still one of my favourites this year, and it came out in January.
False Light: http://thefalselight.bandcamp.com/
Tinnitus: http://tinnitusma.bandcamp.com/ Sounds pretty close to Mind Eraser.
Rort: ...can't find much actually. Here's a live song, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x72hqFArUFU It's got members of Extortion (aus), but not much floating out there on the interwebs.. except a 2009 demo, I think. That's all I have anyway.

Seconding the False Light rec, someone on the TLAL boards linked to their bandcamp page a while back. I'm not too much into powerviolence these days aside from the classics and just a couple of newer bands.

Actually caught Homewrecker with Weekend Nachos (I'm always aiming for something like Unforgivable) a bit back, valid suggestion, but a bit too far into beatdownville. I'll check out their recorded stuff.

Fatal Birth's pretty good, a bit muddied, but good.

False Light's good, guitar's a bit thinner, as are the vocals, but it's growing on me. Good find.

Tinnitus really does sound like older Mind Eraser. I was referring more to Prodigal Son Brings Death style, but I really like what I'm hearing.

Rort sounds promising... I'll scour the web for a real recording.

Great recs, thanks so much

Review for Cara Neir's Sublimation Therapy is up

http://perpetualstrifemusic.blogspot.com/2012/09/hyper-technical-acts-who-apply.html

For those of you that don't know them, Dorian Rainwater of Noisear plays on the first 7 tracks of the ep and they take a lot from his riffing style. An interesting band that I think needs to focus a bit more- and I wonder how grindcore fans feel about all the black metal touches. links to the music are on my review

Most of these bands sound pretty different but all suffer (or benefit... depending on your outlook) from a generally slick production and a more 'mainstream' approach to grind. Keeping that in mind you should check out bands like Wormrot, Brutal Truth, Fuck the Facts, Cretin, and Pig Destroyer for something similarly easily accessible.

That interview is still one of the douchiest things I've seen.

As for recs, Seinfeld-bro, check out the OP of this thread which lists a good amount of the "essentials."

I know what you mean, I guess I'm more into the death grind than the dirty grind. Thanks for the recs.

listen to Suffering Mind, on their most recent full length they even cover Phobia. Suffering Mind's by far the best striaght up grindcore band around.

Yeah, that woman kind of sounds dumb.. but didn't Shane get into some controversy not too long ago for (allegedly) beating his girlfriend or something like that?

I'm listening to that Cara Neir right now.. sounds downright schizophrenic. And before I even read your review I caught the Darkthrone ripoff/Celtic Frost tribute riff of Stained Bedsheets. Anyway, I definitely need to spend some more time with it. It sounds like a could be great, but it isn't yet. What's up with Mr. Noisear anyway? Rainwater seems to be having a creative spurt, he's in like 3 active bands now, plus new a Noisear coming down the pipeline. ..and I just noticed Noisear aren't on the archives, really? Seems just a silly as not having Maruta here, which I see they've changed their minds about. Oh well.

It would be super cool if DT80K announced something new before the end of the year.

This!

And while I enjoy Suffering Mind I think DT80K takes the "straight up grind" championship by a mile. Different strokes i suppose...

Been jamming the IW side of the Carcass Grinder split pretty much non stop since all the IW talk in the "post pictures of yourself" thread yesterday. If I could write a song even a tenth as ripping as Mind Ripper or Pestilent Excrutiation I could die a happy man.

Seriously, DAT RIFF in Pestilent Excruciation is a banger. Similar riffs used in "Manipulator" also rule...whenever IW put a thrash riff on the table, it was sure to destroy!

I WANT MORE DT80K

Never heard this band before, but checking out their bandcamp they're totally "okay." They're no suffering dome piece, the vocals alone and all the start stops Suffering Mind have are just neck destroyingly awesome.

I think DT80K owes more to Bolt Thrower than SM which is probably what seals it for me and all those thrashy as fuck riffs... the whole intro part to No Escape and Piss Stained Press as a whole just do all the right things for me, both are totally ripping bands of ultimate nastiness without out a doubt though.

I posted about them a few months back and nobody paid attention to it. Album of the year for me, for sure. So pumped to own a copy of it too.

Anyone heard that new Pig Destroyer song? Serious Discordance Axis vibes to it.

Next time be more obnoxious about it, goddamnit.

The new PxDx has some serious groove to it too, but I didn't hear any DxAx. The guitars still sound way too clean. I think I like it... but not sure with just that one track; don't want to dump $30 on it only to find it's like Phantom Limb or worse, Terrifyer.

Haha, I already preordered the deluxe edition, so I'm fucked. If this ends up being shitty I could always just sell it and make some cash.

New PxDx song wasn't bad but I just don't really like that style I think, same with Column of Heaven. Saw a lot of praise for them and I just can't get into it, call me old fashioned I guess.

Well PxDx I can see, it's way too polished, but the vocals sound a lot better this time and while I prefer Harvey, the drums have so much punch that they're fun in a death metal kind of way. They've gotten into Misery Index territory which isn't too good, but apparently the deluxe version comes with a short story by Hayes, which I'd love to read and almost bought because of that.

Column of Heaven reminds me of Psudoku just because of the echoing vocals, but I like how grimy/noisy it is and I'm a big fan of The Endless Blockade.

Vocals in both cases aren't bad (i like echoing vocals a lot usually) but I've never been able to get into the blockade and i think liking them is a pretty big prerequisite to digging column of heaven. I will say that new PxDx song is a thousand times better than anything on phantom limb.

Forget to mention The Arson Project, great scandinavian grind. Don't have much material though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-AS1aCLtuQ

I can hear the slight Discordance Axis vibe in the new Pig Destroyer song.. though I've never been much of a fan of them, I only really spin Prowler in the Yard or Terrifyer once in a blue moon. Phantom Limb I only heard a few songs of, none of which interested me, including the posted above. I really don't get the hype. Something like Converge, I can listen to and even though I don't enjoy it, I can see why people get hyped for them. Pig Destroyer I just don't get.

Just listened to The Arson Project, they've got a bit of a Gadget feel to them. Great rec, thanks!

I feel the same way about Pig Destroyer. I've read reviews of them saying they're perfect Grindcore, and I just don't get it. Grindcore isn't supposed to be that hard to listen to. Hopefully Adam Jarvis' on drums will make the new album more easy to listen to, like FleshMonolith said.

It's just the same how I don't get how someone can't enjoy PxDx. I don't try to understand it I just chalk it up to people making judgements more based on how popular a band is than anything regardless of whatever they say.

I'm going to completely and utterly disagree with you here. That's what grindcore is to me, quite frankly: the most brutal form of music. The best grind parts are supposed to make one wince and cringe in ear-assault brutality.

Not only that, but I'd never in a million years describe Pig Destroyer as being "hard to listen to."

Yeah I see what you're saying, and I actually take that back. Some grindcore is supposed to be a hard listen sometimes. I guess Pig Destroyer weren''t the type of Grindcore I was hoping they'd be. Maybe their new album will change my mind.
