I tried searching a topic about this but,, it wasnt as easy as I thought.

Im looking for any kind of metal song that includes Sax, I dont care if its blackmetal, powermetal, anything metal is fine. Im just curious about this cause I dont remember a single song that includes a Sax sound, also I've always liked the depresive bluesy sax Ive heard in some rock songs. So, Does anyone know about a metal song with sax?

The only one I can think of is on a few songs from Amorphis' "Am Universum". That's all I can think of though

Solefald use saxophone on at least one song from In Harmonia Universali, and possibly on Red for Fire.

Callisto use it on their album Noir; I believe the track is "Wormwood."

The Mass utilize it frequently, if I remember correctly, on their EP Holocene 6.

...I know I have at least one more, but I'm having trouble remembering. To be continued.

If I remember right Dream Theater's "Another Day" has the Sax in it, though it's not really a metal song--just a song by a metal band.

Camel of Doom is your answer. I think they dropped the sax recently, but their early-mid stuff utilized the sax as a main instrument. For the record, the play stoner doom with jazz influences.

Nahemah (Esp)'s Phoenix has a sax solo, but it's more a post-rock track. Fantastic album though, progressive death mixed with post-rock.

Congenital hell from japan have a saxophone player. Actually I think it's the singer of Gallhammer that plays it.

Solefald has an excellent example in their somewhat jazzy song "Sun I Call."

Subterranean Masquerade utilizes the Sax in the song Rock n Roll Preacher.

The Fractured Dimension (while not metal..) uses the sax in a few of their songs. One of which being Prism I: Reflection.

Another Day does have a sax in it. Also, a couple songs off of the new Queensryce cd have a sax in it and a few songs off of their albums after Empire have a sax. Sorry, but I can't recall which songs they are, i'll try and find out.

...Nobody mentioned SIGH yet? They're the only metal band I know of that actually has a full-time saxophonist in the band.

Also, Carpathian Forest used it in a couple of songs on Strange Old Brew.

This happens to be something I've looked into in the past...

-Cathedral's Devil's Summit from Hopkins Witchfinder General
-Strapping Young Lad's The New Black
-The Powerglove song So Sexy Robotnik
-Exivious, on at least one song (you probably won't find this, message me if you want it)
-MAYBE Akphaezya does on one song
-PROBABLY Sigh

Also these aren't saxes but in the same vein...
-The song Bad Devil by Devin Townsend
-Ephel Duath has trumpet, at least on Painter's Pallette
-Diablo Swing Orchestra's Ballrog Boogie
-Little Brian's album Thrash Funk (you probably won't find this, message me if you want it)

I know there're some more but I can't remember them off the top of my head right now, if I come across them I'll let you know.

Its yet more Swano stuff, but Karaboudjan also uses sax. Its really ramdom and out of nowhere most of the time, somewhat odd stuff.

Yeah, Amorphis' "Tuonela" and "Am Universum" have soprano sax

That's Bruce Lamont, check out his main band Yakuza - a cross between raging death/grind, ambient and free jazz; he's a great dude and a killer sax player. He's also got a million other projects and bands he's guested with - Minsk, Sigh, Scott Kelly, Ken Vandermark...

Yep ... it's more of a cornball arena rock tune than anything else and the sax playing is a little too smoothe and sweet for my taste.

Anubi use the saxophone a little bit on their LP. I can't remember it being featured much in any of the metal songs though ... it's definitely in the rather disturbing thirteen-minute mostly ambient closer, however.

Necromantia use sax too, on the split with Varathron as well as "Scarlet Evil, Witching Black", but only in non-metal tracks.

Maudlin of the Well features both baritone and alto saxophone on a few tracks. I'm not too fond of this band but I admit that some of their ideas are pretty interesting, and the sax is at least a lot more proficiently played than the trumpet that occasionally makes an appearance.

Sigh, of course ... several of their songs from "Ghast ly Funeral Theatre" onwars employ saxophone parts. Unfortunately due to poor sound I could barely hear the sax parts when I saw them live last summer .. quitee disappointing!

Try Fleurety .. I believe that "Department of Apocalyptic Affairs" includes some sax, and I know that one track on the "Last Minute Lies" MCD definitely does (I believe the song is called "Vortex"). It's been a while since I listened to anything but their debut, which is more of a strange light-sounding black metal record with lots of cool prog touches, but no saxophone.

Then of course there is Lugubrum. I don't know how to describe the off-kilter weirdness of this band's later material, and you must hear it for yourself. The latest album does not feature any sax, but there's a lot of it on "Heilige Dwazen", some cool parts onn "De Vette Cuecken" (one of my favourites from the band) and an absolutely wild, long, screeching solo spot on the totally drugged out-sounding and bizarre "De Ware Hond". The band also has employed banjo, mandolin, a thumb piano, and possibly a tuba at various points, with mixed results. I must say that they're one of the most eccentric and weirdest-sounding metal bands I know, and they occasionally make me scratch my head in perplexity, but I just keep coming back to them.

Yeah, some of these have already been mentioned. I forgot about Camel of Doom...cool band.

Accidentally I just stumbled on some sax in Soundgarden's 'Room A Thousand Years Wide' from their Badmotorfinger. There's a cool sax solo at the end definitely a nod towards The Stooges. Cool moody song, too.

Butterfly Temple's second album "Wheel of Chernobog," has some saxophone in it, which I thought was pretty bizarre. I generally don't care for the instrument.

The band Painkiller that has some saxophonist and some dude from Napalm Death. Pretty extreme avant-garde death-grind with a sax.

IIRC "Temple Of Darkness" (the lastest album of cult Belarussian black metal act Pagan) has a saxophone solo in one of the songs.

Mr Bungle, an experimental/avant-garde metal fusion band uses an alto sax in their songs as well as a trumpet and other brass instruments.

Schweisser, specifically their albums "Eisenkopf" and "Wilkommen Im Club". They're a thrash/groove band that utilize a saxophone player instead of a 2nd guitarist. Most of their leads are done by the sax player. Pretty cool stuff.

That "some saxophonist" is John Zorn, who's kind of a big deal as an avant-garde performer.

And yes, Sigh has a full-time saxophonist NOW, but Mikannibal only joined after the release of Hangman's Hymn. She does a little bit of work with Gallows Gallery and Imaginary Sonicscape (possibly Hail Horror Hail and Scenario IV, not sure), but Scenes From Hell is going to be the first album she's a full-time member.

Right. Also, "Svart Visdom" on Helheim's "Jormundgand" album uses a sax, it sounds quite epic.

Oblomov - Mighty Cosmic Dances

Its an interesting black metal album and some of the songs (I forget which ones) have some pretty good saxophone solos, and the production is nice and crisp making them sound sweet.

Unexpect uses saxophone frequently in their avant garde metal blend... Most notably in the song Megalomaniac Trees.

I would Second this recommendation. The entire 3-song "suite" (or whatever it's proper classification would be) is worth listening to. I believe the sax comes in at the end. Very nice blending of Black Metal with Prog influences and a modal jazz sax solo.
