I've gotten into Gorerotted recently and wanted to see if any decent Melodic Brutal Death Metal existed...anyone have any info?

I guess Intestine Baalism would count to some extent. Chances are, you are already aware of them, but if you aren't: they combine death metal with low vocals with occasional power metal-esque melodicsm.

All death metal is 'brutal' to varying degrees.
All music is 'melodic'.

You're asking for a double redundancy.

That doesn't really help me. There's a reason Bloodbath isn't labeled Melodic Death Metal and why old school In Flames is labeled Melodic Death Metal.

Come on, you know what he means, don't be such a troll.

This is probably not brutal enough but try dark lunacy...

God Dethroned's "Bloody Blasphemy" is exactly what you're looking for.

Aborted - Slaughter & Apparatus: A Methodical Overture can sometimes venture into the melodic genre. Give it a try.

I don't understand what he wants neither. I thought brutal was putting emphasis on simple, in-your-face structure, with sometimes solos..and that melodic was like, technical and stuff.

I don't know any band that are labeled (or are labeling themselves) as Melodic Brutal Death Metal

Yeah, I second this. It's fairly brutal in parts, then can go to some decent melody, mostly during the solos and some choruses. Also try their albums The Archaic Abattoir and Strychnine.213, but that one is the best representative album.

Also try Martriden's The Unsettling Dark, too. The whole album has a thin coating of melody, but it can get to some fast, brutal sections, too. The track "Ascension Part 2" is incredible, and still gives me slight goosebumps.

I'd also recommend Pre Mortem's False Gleam. It's technical death metal, but there are many instances that resemble melodic death, even death/doom. The CD is a bitch to find, so permission to download is accepted. ;) It's actually a pretty good album, despite the presence of several styles that shouldn't be allowed to intertwine.

Try them:

They play melodic death with burping vocals :)

Well, it's not that hard to understand, he just wants a brutal variation of melodeath like intestine baalism. That being said, it does sound a bit contradictive...

O, check Acephalus (US) :)

Try Gorgasm. Very brutal sound but with a melodic twist. You might not notice that at first, but with time it grows on you and you will start realizing that they have something that the other brutal gore bands don't.

Yeah I know, it's a bit contradictory but the description makes sense when you hear it.

What sparked this thread: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fbin-dRwyYw

Gorerotted - Dead Drunk...you hear a very melodic guitar on top of rather brutal drums in the intro. I've had that song stuck in my head for the last 14 days.

Would Lykathea Aflame count? Though I'd wager you've probably heard of them. If not, Elvenefris might fit the bill of what you want. At least partially.

Some of the more recent Severe Torture. Their last album Sworn Vengance sounds kinda melodic (at least for brutal death) in places.

You can try the "Archaic Abattoir" by Aborted it's a good album that mathes your needs.

I agree, "God Was Created" is a masterpiece, really meoldic but with brutal elements.

Seconding this, both Severe Torture's most recent albums incorporate a more melodic influence on their music, some good stuff :D also gonna recommend Benighted, very groovy and heavy but also oddly melodic. Finally, Decrepit Birth's Diminishing Between Worlds also has a lot of melody, albeit less conventional. It's not quite as brutal as their first album though.

These guys are great, but not "brutal" in the Devourment sense (IIRC). Still their sole album has massive, melody-tinged death metal sans the fruitcakery. Gotta love the "burping vocals" too.

Avulsed's "Yearning for the Grotesque" is also pretty brutal and goes for a more "over-the-top" approach, when it comes to melody. Pretty powerful and catchy album.

Check out Pathology's latest. Disgorge meets Gorgasm with the occasional newer Decrepit Birth part thrown in.

If anything of this has been mentioned already, consider it me seconding it:

Lykathea Aflame is the most obvious one I can think of but also Abacinate, latest Fleshless, Fleshrot and Intestine Baalism.

Dunno if the OP still cares, as this thread died almost three months ago.

Anyways: Cephalectomy
Strange stuff, Norwegian progressive vegetarian grindcore, one might say. Certainly more melodic than usual.

Anything by Master could be probable for this thread.

Also, possibly Vital Remains? Dechristianize is easily one of the more brutal albums out there with heaps of melody to be found.

Hah, I thought that said Cephalotripsy for about half a second. They're pretty much anti-melody.

Same thing happened to me when I first stumbled upon them, basically. The fact that the name itself would rather suggest a dime-a-dozen brutal/slam death band didn't help matters either.
Take my word for it, don't let that name scare you off.
