I find the track Bohemian Rhapsody to be an interesting listen in the car while singing to it. So I decided to create a compilation cd of songs that have a similar idea like track Bohemian Rhapsody.

There must be:
*Extremely good vocals and with Variety (Yes, that's a big V)
*There must piano lines
*There must be a guitar solo
*It must be enjoyable

As much as I like Unexpect's In A Flesh Aquarium and it's constant change of vocal stylings in one song I don't want to hear growled/shrieked vocals. I want something that has crystal clear and beautiful vocals.

*A metallic track is a bonus.

This really should go in the recommendation forum, but whatever. EDIT: OH HEY it's been moved already. Disregard this.

Really what you want is pretty much everything by Queen ever. I especially recommend their Innuendo album, as it not only features some of Freddy's finest vocal performances, but also more intricate guitar work from Brian May than on their earlier stuff. Not that you can't find guitar solos from the 70s albums, but they seem to be in higher concentrations later on.

As for metal that does this... you're going to get a lot of power metal suggestions. And frankly, that's a field I can't offer a lot of help in. My ideas are sitting more squarely in classic rock world.

I'm assuming you've already gotten more Queen than just Bohemium Rhapsody but if not, get on it. In regards to metal-based stuff, check out the band "Heavenly". They play catchy, upbeat and intricate power metal with precise, high-pitched vocals and lots of choirs, they frequently have piano sections in songs, and the guitars are nice and flashy. Their choruses are like anthems. Most of Heavenly's songs follow the typical song structure of Intro - Verse - Chorus - Verse - Prechorus - Chorues - etc though. Some good tunes are "The World will be Better", and "Virus" and "Victory" but there are others in their catalogue.

Otherwise, you could look into the band "Rhapsody". Check out their really long, epic tracks such as "Symphony of Enchancted Lands", "Gargoyles, Angels of Darkness" and "The Mystic Prophecy of the Demon Knight Part One; A new Saga Begins" (I shit you not)

Kamelot may also be right up your alley. Check "Center of the Universe", wicked tune. I think you'd love it.

I have listened to most Queen albums but the quality I'm looking for is in the vocals. The constant tone or style of vocals and has that choir-ish elements. I doubt "normal" power metal would be the right place for me to look for as they normally employ only one style of vocal.

What about Blind Guardian's And Then There Was Silence? I believe it fits your description, as Hansi Kürsch has godly vocals and it's his most varied performance yet, with tons of layers. He's also a big Queen fan and it shows. There are tons of little guitar leads scattered throughout the song and on the piano, there are tons of keyboard lines, but not with the classic piano tone, but with a sort of small bell-like tone (I don't know how to describe it more accurately :P).

Actually, I'd say the whole album fits pretty well (not everycriterion in each song, but overall).

Ihsahn - "The Pain Is Still Mine" from The Adversary

Pain of Salvation - "Diffidentia (Breaching The Core) Exitus - Drifting II" from BE

Pain of Salvation - "Iter Impius Martignea, Son Of Mars Obitus Diutinus" from BE

Pain of Salvation - "Her Voices" from The Perfect Element, Part I

(Actually, there are plenty of moments from both BE and The Perfect Element, Part I that fit the OP's criteria. Both albums, along with Ayreon's discography, are among my first choices for "vocal variety.")

Symphony X - "Accolade II" from The Odyssey (Just get the whole album)

Dream Theater - "The Count of Tuscany" from Black Clouds & Silver Linings

Dream Theater - "Forsaken" from Systematic Chaos

There is a song on Queen II called "March of the Black Queen" that is a dry run for "Bohemian Rhapsody". Interesting topic, I'm gonna give this one some thought.
