Thou is the first sludge band that has really captured my interest. I enjoy the Tyrant album in particular. What bands play a similar style with huge, downtuned fuzzy riffs with harsh vocals but with more post-rock-ish clean interludes? Their clean interludes are great.

Aye i stumbled upon this release for pretty cheap and am enjoying it greatly. Their brand of sludge and some post aspects isn't something I've really come across, but you might dig Kylesa. Really good sludge with good production and a heavy hardcore vibe, good stuff though.

The Arm and Sword of a Bastard God, I have their split with Coffins and it's fucking great. Of course there's plenty to be recommended on the sludge side, but with the mixture of post metal i'm kinda clueless, so i'd be interested as well. Maybe older Isis? don't know them too well but from what I've heard and been told that's their shtick.

Minsk / Deadbird

Any album from either band will do, as they are all awesome. Try A Storm of Light as well, it's a little slower and heavier throughout and tbh not as good as the aforementioned bands.

A storm of light is good, but it's a lot more atmospheric, not really as heavy and powerful

ASOL not heavy? What?

I saw them last year and it was the heaviest gig i've ever seen and I like to think i've already seen my share of the heaviness. It beats Worship or Griftegard when it comes to sheer heaviness and that says it all. I consider them to be just as heavy on CD, but with a more post-rockish thing going on, but the same can be said about Thou. I agree that they aren't really powerful, but sweet jesus they are heavy.
