Forgive the rather gay title, but I am looking for bands that have both a thrash and progressive metal sound to them, similar to the sound in Nevermore's This Godless Endeavor, which has thrash-sounding riffs despite an overall progressive style. I have lately been on a slight thrash binge since hearing Megadeth's new singles and also have been on a bit of a prog binge since being shown Jarzombek, and Nevermore offered a bit of both, so I was wanting to find more, especially a bit of tech-prog and thrash if possible. I do prefer at least some clean vocals, but am open to most things.

Anacrusis are generally considered to be prog-thrash staples. All of their material is available for free.

Get Scariot - Strange to Numbers. Kinetic, Earth-shaking Prog with some serious Thrash tendencies as well. It's like Nevermore if they were more aggressive, interesting and melodic.

How about Heathen? "Victims of Deception" has its proggy side and structures; you'll like it if you dig the Bay Area sound. David White's vocals are awesome.

Their material was available on their website for free, but since it's gone down you'll have to go searching a little deeper.

^Nothing a good blogspot search can't solve.

But, yeah, definitely check out Heathen.

Heathen has been thirded, definitely essential.

Try Believer, with their 'epic' compositions and 'atmospheric thrash' almost, it's very well done and powerful.

2 words: Watchtower.

May want to check out Coroner also. Then again that's more technical thrash...

Anacrusis- Not bad, I enjoyed Sound the Alarm and I Love the World, though I found Release a bit bland and one other that I tried. Any specific CD/song recs for this band?

Scariot- Found one song from Strange to Numbers on their myspace and all I have to say is Yes! This was pretty much what I was looking for, stuff like this. Will have to find the rest of the album and listen.

Heathen- Listened to a couple of songs from Victims and my interest is piqued. Will check them out more after Scariot.

Will get to others later.

Dark Angel after Darkness Descends. So, Time Does Not Heal and Leave Scars.

Forbidden - Twisted Into Form? maybe?

Anything by Mekong Delta.

there are more, but they are what come to mind immediately.

YES! THIS!

Also, try Realm and Deathrow's third record, entitled 'Deception Ignored.' If you like those, then check out Invocator's first record, 'Excursion Demise.'

Thought Industry's Songs for Insects has some very progressive thrashing songs (listen to the title track), although there are also moments which almost stray from metal entirely (see Alexander vs The Puzzle).

Depressive Age isn't at all a tech-thrash band despite their labeling on the Archives, as many of their riffs are one-note speed metal riffs, and there is no especially noteworthy bass or drum playing, but they had a pretty unique and progressive thrash style regardless on their first two albums. Example.

Jester's March is a criminally underrated Proggy Thrash band. Imagine Queensrÿche gone thrash. Beyond is their better album.

Listen to MAnic Impressions, it's their most prog album.

Or Suffering Hour, their most "thrash" album.

I forgot about Watchtower, it's Jarzombek's thrash band.

Well, it isn't really Jarzombek's band... he is the second guitarist to grace that band. I will say that his material with the band is phenomenal though. Both Watchtower records are great. I have always wondered what it would have been like to have him play on Energetic Disassembly.

Uh the most obvious band VOIVOD still not mentioned. Especially Dimension Hatröss and Nothingface albums.

I'll add my voice for Mekong Delta, Anacrusis and Watchtower too.

Blind Illusion's sole full-length features Les Claypool and Larry Lalonde, both of Primus fame. If you hate Primus, fret not - Blind Illusion sounds nothing alike. They're prog-thrash at its finest.
