I'm looking for what I can only describe as being the most musically intense Power Metal out there, combining three chief ingredients: melody, aggression and speed. Something I have to stress is that I'm looking for music that showcases well-developed, catchy melodies, not 0000000000000000 riffs to put me to sleep with, please. Think of something like a fragment of the complexity and intricacy of romantic classical music, played on an electric guitar, and blared through the fast-picked, palm-muted, double bass-mongering aesthetic of metal. Albums that exemplify this to me are Blind Guardian's Imaginations From the Other Side and Nightfall in Middle-Earth. Savage Circus is the closest I've found yet, although Symphony X, Dream Theater's Metropolis Pt. II, Lost Horizon and Falconer fit the bill, the latter especially in the melodic department. I don't care for kitsch "old-school US power metal" pap so spare me the Manilla Roads, Omens, Twisted Tower Dires etc. etc., I'm really not asking for anything by those bands.

Thanks.

I might get flamed for this, but it seems to me like Dragonforce fits the bill.

But, since you have probably heard their music, I would suggest Hybria's debut.

Pharaoh's Be Gone album, and you should have just posted this in the PM Help Thread. It's pretty broad.

It's also something no one would have ever read, being buried in forum circlejerks. I figured if I could see rec threads for "atmospheric death metal", "death metal like dying fetus with symphonic parts" and "death metal with Jazz breakdowns" independent of the DM help thread I could roll the dice.

I always think those things should be posted in the DM thread too, but I never go in them because I have nothing to recommend.

You. Die. (Because. THOSE. Bands. ARE. Elite. Power. Metal.)

On topic: have you heard Persuader from Sweden?

I was just going to recommend Persuader, it fits your description and it has members for Savage Circus (or is it the other way around?).

Hibria - Defying the Rules

A godly power metal album.

Plus, the new album is very good, too.

Kitsch? And you're a fan of latter-day Dream Theater? OK pal.

Well, despite you being a gigantic dumbass, I'll go ahead and recommend Gamma Ray. They seem to fit the bill pretty well.

Funny story: you're attempting to evade a previous ban.
