I was just wondering if you all knew of some bands that take the heaviness of sludge and actually put some speed behind it. Maybe something like Lair of the Minotaur but with actual good riffs and speed.?
Thanks your for help guys!!

Wait a sec, did somebody just cast doubt on the quality of Lair Of The Minotaur's riffs?

To my knowledge LotM plays a pretty distinct style, I wouldn't know of any similar bands. Although I would very much like to.

In a less narrow sense, perhaps Centurion's Ghost, Birds Of Prey or Fudge Tunnel would fit? If memory serves me right ...

You could try out Misery and see if that hits the spot. It's not quite sludgy but there is a heavy influence from Amebix and the crust scene that rears itself in the form of a dirty guitar tone and the occasional slow and low parts.

Also, yes I would call into question Lair of the Minotaurs riffs. They're not grating or anything, just boring.

Black Cobra. They're practically all speed.

Superjoint is actually Metalcore, in the true sense of the word. A mix between hardcore and metal.
