Any good brutal death metal worth checking out for a fan of Behemoth, CANNIBAL CORPSE, Decrepit Birth, Deicide and Suffocation? You know, stuff with heavy mosh riffs, good basslines and those low, Tomb of the Mutilated-era Barnes-style vocals.*

*And please, none of that stuff with the fart vocals, monotonous blast beat drumming and childish lyrics about poop and smelly vaginas**
**Although I do enjoy bands with gore lyrics, I prefer for them to be shocking and disgusting, not childish and generic.

Check out Beheaded's entire discography, from their first album to Ominous Bloodlines. All are pretty different from each other but fit your criteria.

"Brujerizmo" by Brujeria will fit your request nicely. The lyrics may not be what you're after but they're in Spanish and so can just ignore them if you so care - the music however, you should enjoy.

You might also enjoy some Decapitated, and some Kataklysm.

I feel like from your description you're not actually looking for bands from the "brutal DM" subgenre. Have you listened to Baphomet's "The Dead Shall Inherit"? Excellent mid-to-sometimes-fast-paced NYDM. Some great bass lines pop up here and there as well.

Lykathea Aflame. They're not too brutal, but they're great.

I would love to hear back from the OP. The bands he listed aren't even remotely near what I would consider "artistic brutal death metal" so I'm anxious to see what the result is of listening to stuff like Insidious Decrepancy and Ancient Necropsy.

Indeed. None of them are even BDM save for Suffocation, much less "artistic brutal death metal".

I suppose I'll contribute though, seeing as I had a thread like this a while back. For starters, check out Garbage Disposal, Mitochondrion, and maybe Biolich if you're in the mood for something weird.

I've not heard their debut, and what I heard off their latest didn't sound like BDM to me. However, I think you know your stuff well enough to make the call, so, my mistake.

It's basically Disgorge/"Despise the Sun" worship. I suggest listening to it. And yes, their newer stuff is HARDLY brutal. Unless if you look like Oli Sykes.

Some obvious ones I didn't see mentioned yet:

-None So Vile
-Something by Nile, maybe Annihilation of the Wicked or In Their Darkened Shrines

What I mean by "artistic brutal death metal" is bands that actually put an effort into their music instead of going for the bare minimum (Nothin' but blast beats, no bass guitar, generic riffs, monotonus fart vocals; Waking the Cadaver or Disgorge are 2 examples of this). And thanks for the recommendations, keep 'em comin! I love to check out new underground bands! And no more recommendations from anyone who doesn't think that Decrepit Birth are brutal death metal.

The issue was resolved above, but if you really think their latest is BDM, you obviously haven't the slightest idea what BDM is.

Scrambled Defuncts - Hackled In Gore
This is probably the one you'll want to check out first. One of the coolest brutal death metal albums you'll ever hear. Don't be put off by the running time (51 minutes), because the album really does hold your interest all the way through, with twisted guitar riffs, audible bass lines, sick-as-fuck vocals, and drum programming that actually fooled me for a long time, as I thought they were real. The lyrics deal with death and torture of infants, but you'll barely register how controversial or stupid it is, as the music, and interludes between every track, take you on a journey. I highly recommend this one.

Abysmal Torment - Omnicide
If you like thin-ish production, I'd try this one, too. Music is quite fast, and it's a little bit slammy, but it all works really well. This is one of my favourites of the year, so you may like it, as well.

Emeth - Insidious, Reticulated, Telesis
Yeah, this is a band where you should look at all their albums. Insidious is their debut, and most primitive. The whole production is suffocating, barely having any room to breathe, but it's awesome. Might be too blasty for your liking, though. Reticulated is my favourite of the three. A cleaner production and the vocals aren't as deep, so you might enjoy it a bit more. Telesis utilises modern production, and sounds a bit like Benighted, if you've heard them.

Ulcerate - Everything Is Fire
This New Zealand death metal band is quite unique, mixing brutality with a sense of dissonance and atmosphere. They can be fairly "artistic," if you want to use that word. Lyrical themes tend to deal more with armageddon and world downfall, rather than gore. If you like this, then also check out their debut Of Fracture And Failure.

Weeping Birth - Anosognosic Industry Of The I
Brutal death/black metal that runs for 73 minutes. Again, that might seem like complete overkill, and 9 times out of 10 it probably would be, but there's more than enough variety to keep you interested. The drum programming is mostly blasting it's way through songs, but it's neither brutal nor repetitive...it finds a very nice balance between the two. Definitely check this out.

That'll do for now, I think. I'll second the Beheaded recommendation, and would urge you to check them out, because they do seem like they're what you're looking for. I just get the feeling that your version of "artistic" differs from others, but I'd like to think I have a slight understanding of what you mean. :P

Oh, and I'll throw in the band Eradicate (Ger). They're not really artistic or even that brutal, but they're about the closest thing to Cannibal Corpse I've ever heard, and you mentioned you like them, so give them a go, too.

I would recommend these!!!

Bloodsoaked – Sadistic Deeds, Grotesque Memories (Peter is way better than Shawn)

Infinited Hate – Heaven Termination

Abysmal Torment – Incised Wound Suicide & Epoch of Methodic Carnage (these albums are better than their latest offering “Omnicide”, vocals and drums are horrible on this one)

Incinerate – Anatomize

Flesh Consumed – Mutilate, Eviscerate, Decapitate

Infernal Revulsion – Dead But Breathing

Emeth – Insidious & Telesis (Reticulated doesn’t match those two albums)

Ulcerate – Everything is Fire (Awesome, awesome album indeed)

Vomit The Soul – Apostles of Inexpression (better than Portraits of Inhuman Abomination)

Try Mortal Decay. Very chunky brutal death metal with deep but still decipherable vocals. Kinda reminiscent of Barnes-era Cannibal Corpse.
