Destroyer 666 anyone?

...Satyricon.

You're all over the place now. He would do well to try D666 or my recs if he wants pure thrash in his black metal.

Agreed, and Satyricon? Thrash? They're hardly even black metal anymore, and even their early material isn't thrashy.

yeah, he might as well just have recommended Dimmu Borgir while he was at it. I do like me some Satyricon. Especially the early stuff but they hardly contain the type of thrash heard from Hellhammer inspired bands.

Ha! I knew you would get called out for that, przmtlhed93! ;)

I second Absu and Tormentor, along with D666's Cold Steel.

Don't think Alastor has been mentioned yet. Infernal Lord sounds like early Toxic Holocaust to me but a little more lo-fi. The older stuff has a bit more of a black metal sound.

Ares Kingdom. Modern black/thrash with a lot of crunch and bass.

Old. Just standard black/thrash with a bit of punk influence.

Desaster. One of my favorites and you should not miss this one if you aren't familiar with them yet. Very much rooted in black metal with thrashy riffs. Can't believe no one else mentioned them yet.

Nocturnal was already mentioned but I will second them. Arrival of the Carnivore is pretty badass. This should be one of the first ones to check out.

Nifelheim is another big name in black/thrash that is worth checking out if you don't know them.

Destroyer 666 has been mentioned many times but Cold Steel is my favorite black/thrash album.

Lightning Swords of Death is pretty standard black/thrash that you may like emphasizing more on the black metal side.

Vesen is a young band from Norway that is really good. Riffs are very thrashy but the vocals are pure black metal.

I highly recommend NME-unholy death anyway. that's what venom would've sounded like if they'd been cooler.
