I'm looking for bands with similarities to The Human Abstract, and Protest the Hero.

Specifically, I'm looking for Progressive/Neo-Classical on the extreme spectrum of metal. Bonus points if they feature both harsh, and clean vocals.

Obviously I have BTBAM and Opeth's discographies. I figure I'd mention that since those seem like the first two candidates to be mentioned.

If you like opeth then you may like to look in to Akercocke, Persefone, In Mourning , Gwynbleidd and Ihsahns solo albums.

Well, though they're a bit less metal than Protest the Hero, I would give a STRONG suggestion to The Syncope Threshold, especially their CD released this year: Tale of the Complex Circuit. Some of my favorite tracks from it are:

The Conchoid of Truth...In Blood, Exodus, and Speak Now, all of which are are up on their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/tstband

The band features vocals similar to PtH, ranging pretty much everywhere, dual guitars with alot of sweep-picking, a melding of several genres into a core-ish, progressive, metal-ish, mixture with catchy occasionally almost poppy chorus without losing the aggression and energy of the song. It's a definite must-listen for fans of Protest the Hero, most people who like one like the other. Oh, they also covered Rush's Tom Sawyer recently.

I know that but i can not say if you're asking for metalcore i can not help you their (not the biggest metalcore fan.) You said people compared The Human Abstract to between the buried and me and Opeth. So i recommend bands along the lines of BTBAM and Opeth and the bands i named all have a style similar to The human abstract.

Judge for yourself.
