The album that I'd like to base my recommendation request on is Ulver's Shadows of the Sun. I'm looking for a similar album with a melancholic feeling but preferably with some subtle metal elements. Go ahead and shoot off some suggestions, as long as the music has a similar tempo (it helps me goto sleep) and has some sad sounding melodies.

Kind of a tough one to explain, I know, but theres got to be an album like this out there! Thanks in advance.

You know what, I have Vinterriket's DVD "Kontemplative Antagonismen des Augenblicks" but I haven't listened to it often. Seems like their new material might be just what I'm looking for, thanks. Keep them coming.

The Axis of Perdition

Absolutely brilliant stuff. It doesn't take imagery for it to be scary enough to make you go poop. You're pretty much safe in buying any of their albums; it won't disappoint.
