Yeah I'm still listening to them quite regularly along with Heretoir, Apati, Thranekind, Benighted in Sodom, Austere, Castevet, and Woe.

And I've been meaning to listen to that forever since its got some Austere members in it, definitely needed that reminder I'm swamped with music right now.

Most black metal I listen to has a somewhat thin tone (i.e. Burzum), but for this recommendation I'm looking for something similar to De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. This means that the music should have a thicker, fuller tone, use fairly intricate tremolo riffs, and have an overall powerful sound (though not in any sense "clean" production--still dirty, but powerful). I suppose another good example would be Lunar Aurora's Andacht. Vocal style does not matter. Thanks!

If you are looking something just like De Mysteriis soundwise check out the uk's Frost, same guitar tone, drum sound and vocals -

and if you enjoy absolutely plenty of tremolo riffs try Aldaaron, more melodic than Mayhem, but they have a powerful sound and a not to clean production, excellent album imo -

Thanks for the suggestions. I've never heard Frost, but the Atilla imitation is pretty sweet. Aldaaron, however, was a bit too melodic for this particular recommendation, even though the tremolo is spot-on. I'm open to any other recs.

No problem, ok if you are looking something a bit darker than the melodic side of Aldaaron you will prob enjoy Blodsrit, always loved this particular albums artwork, music wise it is a lot more grim sounding with good use of tremolo riffs -

Can anyone recommend some black metal that sounds good on weed?

I know it's kind of a random request, but I have yet to experience black metal enjoyably while high. What does it for you?

I'm looking for something very similar in style to Branikald's earlier stuff, specifically Rdjandalir. Very ambient songwriting sensibility; slow yet thorough development of the central idea over a long song length, and the atmosphere conveys a kind of submerged mystical feeling. Raw production, basically the raw black metal style aesthetically. Clean vocals similar to Kaldrad's on Rdjandalir are a definite plus, but more than I would expect.

I have heard pretty much all the other BBH stuff, as well as the second wave bands so no need to recommend any of them.

I'm looking for midpaced black metal with aggressive, energetic riffing. I prefer as minimal blastbeats as possible and I'm looking for something that's production wise quite loud and clear. (Think of something similiar to Immortal's later works.)

The best example I can come up with is Immortals ''Tyrants''. Also some of Bathory's works and Desaster's ''Tyranizzer'' are good examples.

I did'nt recommend D.S.O because i am noft that familier with the band and as for 1349 i am only fond of listining to Hellfire album, as for Taake and Blut aus Nord i do find them to be aggressive particularly Taake's Over Bjoergvin Graater Himmerik & Nattestid Ser Porten Vid and Blut Aus Nord's Memoria Vetusta I ,II and 777sects(s) and these albums are filled with lost ao blastbeats.

I will second Burzum's Filosofem. Classics that work on weed also include Darkthrone's Transylvanian Hunger, Ulver's Bergtatt and Nattens Madrigal, Immortal's At the Heart of Winter and Drudkh's Autumn Aurora. Lots of atmosphere in these albums which normally works well with any drugs, besides PCP...

Less known albums are Fell Voices' eponymous album, Horseback's The Invisible Mountain, Nattsol's Stemning and maybe some Urfaust although I find it a tad boring (I'm referring to the instrumental aspect of the music, the atmosphere and vocals are very unique and intriguing).

Yeah that Taake song is pretty heavy, don't know if I would call it aggressive though, anyway point taken. 1349 are a shitload more aggressive though, the bands you mentioned are much more renowned for their atmosphere or progressive elements, although I'm not really so much into 1349 myself.

Ya 1349 are a lot aggressive than Taake but the only 1349 songi am fond of is hellfire form hellfire album the song got unique atmosphere and yes the bands mentione by me are more progressive and atmospheric as in am fond of such Black Metal and have been listening to it for some time and so an familier with such releases but now i feel like exploring some bands that i have skiped earlier probably start with D.S.O's Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum and Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice cause mentions to their music pops up regularly when talking about black metal.

I'd heard of them, but remembered them as some crappy bedroom black metal styled band. That song was killer though, may have to check them out again.

Looking for Black Metal/Ambient which features chanted clean/harsh vocals. The guitars can be creating an atmosphere no matter how repetitive. Minimalistic drums, with little to no blastbeats.

Urfaust like a good example of what I am looking for, and Silencer is great as well. Thanks in advance!

I cannot think of more than a few ambient/black metal bands with minimistic drumming but u can try [be sure to try the samples i've picked them specially to suit your request]
Vinterriket's Winterschatten & Gebirgshöhenstille have minimal drummming
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k9NTy1hwCQ

Lustre's A Gilmpse of Glory only three songs great ambient/black metal particularly the track lunar light
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4OIifn5XNs

U can slso try these they are not strictly ambientblack metal but have great atmosphere
Ancient Wisdom's For Snow Covered the Northland
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yu2DMdsSsU

Exiled from light's Descending Further into Nothingness very repetitive minimal drumming and fantastic atmosphere
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coP5T0jn-7c

Sombres Forets's Quintessence & Royaume De Glace
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1yccXXE0pg

And lastly some of my recommendations that not strictly waht u asked but are great ambient /atmospheris black metal albums
Midnight Odyssey's both albums
Coldworld's The stars are now Dead
Velvet Cacoon's Genevieve
Blut aus Nord's Ultima Thule
Hope you enjoy them ;)

I'm looking for bands that fuse black metal, and neofolk music, with the use of clean vocals and classical/acoustic guitars. So bands that sound similar to Agalloch and Gallowbraid, but moreso the former.

Ever look into October Falls? His discography has a lot of different flavors (in different degrees and combinations) along those and also Ulver-ish lines. I'm not an Agalloch fan, but I think October Falls does that acoustic-folk-ish-guitars-meets-black-metal style quite well, particularly on Streams of the End and The Womb of Primordial Nature, if memory serves.

Something similar has probably been posted but I'm sure you won't mind seeing it again!!

I'm looking for something that has raw "winter" atmosphere with the odd keyboard/acoustic guitar part. Here's some examples of what i mean:

Emperor - In the Nightsids Eclipse
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeMRYH4AvzU

Setherial - Nord...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2talTNLDJMI

Thy Primordial - Where Only The Seasons Mark The Paths Of Time
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nu490pUv3Fw

I guess you could count Sacramentum - Far away from the Sun as well but want something of what I listed above. thanks

I'm looking for something that's similar to
Mgła - Groza IV

IE kind of slow, dissonant tremolo picking, and drums that don't just blast.
I don't really mind if it's repetive.
As for the production, if the music is really superb then shitty/raw/crappy production doesn't matter. I would prefer a bit polished though but not too sterile.

I'd have a listen to Sargeist- Let The Devil In for semi-raw and melodic black metal.
You may also want t check out Ancient Wisdom (quite similar to Sacramentum), Midvinter (also quite like sacramentum in terms of melody) and maybe Alghazanth...

I remember Vorgrow being one.

This request needs answers, though I have none. :(

It may not be exactly what you're looking for, but Altorių Šešėliai's early demo material may be up your alley. The full-length won't suit what you're looking for, but his first two demos, especially the first one, are quite minimal and ambient and have the slow development of ideas and submerged sound you're after which can sometimes be somewhat reminiscent of Rdjandalir.
