I asked a German friend of mine, he says he doesn't know any classic punk bands, just hardcore ones like Fallbrawl and Nasty.

Hey, it's a start at least. Thanks.

There's a band from Germany called Straight Line that are one of the best skate/90s style punk bands in the world. The singer/guitarist is right into old school thrash and you can definitely hear it in the riffage.

*They sing in English, but still warrant checking out. The album Vanishing Values is a total banger.

Fucking finally! Thanks for the heads up.

Can anybody recommend me some bands VERY similar to Nuclear Death Terror?
I guess Fukpig is kind of similar, but that heavy HM2 guitar tone is a little grating, and in the long run all their songs sound the same.

Disfear is kinda close yeah. I love Trap Them, but I don't find them very close to NDT though.

I just stumbled upon Abuso Sonoro, who are very close to what I'm looking for though. It's like the perfect mix of NDT and Disrupt

I hear ya Mate. Abuso Sonoro def brings the same raw element as NDT.

Nice rec.

Fugazi especially since Guy Picciotto helped found the band.

Looking for some grindcore and crust punk bands, if anyone has some. I'm not too familiar with the umbrella of metal-influenced punk genres, and I don't know much about what distinguishes each one, but I'm liking what I've heard so far. I'm looking for anything sludgy and raw (but not too raw) that's still grounded in punk/hardcore.

I think I know most of the essential grindcore bands, my favorite so far is Pig Destroyer, particularly their album Prowler In The Yard. It has all of the extreme tempos and condensed songs you would expect from grindcore, but I can still headbang to it. I don't know ANY crust punk bands so I won't be very picky, as long as they're dirty and metal-influenced enough to be relatively compatible with grindcore in a playlist. I also like bands that take elements of many punk genres, like how Nails borrows from grind, crust, and hardcore.

I've just gotten into the 2021 debut full-length by UK band The Chisel.

This is a total banger. Modern hardcore that isn't interested in beating you down with boring staccato riffage and cliched lyrics about loyalty and perseverance that we've all heard a million times before. This is hard and fast with a twist of singalong UK street-punk. Think Black Flag meets Cockney Rejects meets Slapshot. The singer is rocking a Vio-Lence shirt in their Spotify profile pic. Talk about ticking every box.

Hundres of bands could be listed here. For grindcore that is rooted in punk and hardcore, I don't think I have much to offer. For crust, though, I'd go with these bands for starters:

Nuclear Death Terror
Spoiler: show

Disrupt
Spoiler: show

Dropdead
Spoiler: show

Fukpig
Spoiler: show

Massgrav
Spoiler: show

Night Fever (more hardcore punk)
Spoiler: show

Skitsystem

Doom

Cro-Mags (more hardcore punk/thrash crossover)
Spoiler: show

Anti Cimex
Spoiler: show

Driller Killer
Spoiler: show

Disfear
Spoiler: show

Disgust
Spoiler: show

Caustic Christ (more hardcore punk though)
Spoiler: show

Abuso Sonoro

Does anyone have a copy of Acme's "Menschenmaschine" demo uploaded anywhere? (or who is willing to dub/tape it for me, I can do the upload)

This one from 1993: https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/A ... ine/693736

Not the seven-inch.

Found another band somewhat reminiscent of Disrupt: RAW NOISE
This shit is right up my alley - Fast, short and to the point. Great riffs, even if they're simple.

They've really been making waves around Denmark since the release of their album earlier this year, and rightfully so.

Can anyone recommend some more melodic New York Hardcore in the vein of Gorilla Biscuits and H20? Not looking for beatdown-ish bands like Madball and Sick of It All (I like those bands too, just not what i'm looking for).

I remember NDT. I used to not be able to get enough of that kind of stuff. It's been awhile because I eventually did get enough of the crusty stuff, but I remember also really liking Guided Cradle, Wolfpack/Wolfbrigade, Excrement of War, and Visions of War. Hope that helps, assuming you don't already listen to those bands.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some compilations, or a series of compilations, along the lines of Killed by Death and Bloodstains Across...(insert country/state/region)? I've always loved the late 70's/early 80's punk stuff. Comps like that are a great way to hear some of the more obscure stuff without paying an arm and a leg for those original 45's.

Thanks for the recs dude, I'll definitely check it out! Of the ones you mention, I only know Wolfbrigade!

Edit:
Great recs, I love all the bands! Especially Visions of War and Guided Cradle are right on the money. Too bad EoW and VoW aren't on the regular streaming services, I'll have to make do with Bandcamp until I can scrounge up the cash to acquire physical copies.
