Any fans of MitB should look into Neanderthal!

I've been on a search for Grindcore bands like Crowd Control and Warsore. Any help would be great!

I've got one I'd like to throw out. I'm looking for Crust punk on the much darker and gloomier side of things. Filth of Mankind is a great example of the kind of thing I'm looking for. Here's a song by them to give you an idea of what I'm after. I'm new to this area of music, so even the most basic and obvious recommendations still apply.

Anyway, thanks in advance!

^ You may enjoy Axegrinder.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6gebTq2Oo0

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

EDIT: Also Sore Throat (or "Saw Throat", if you will) on the album Inde$troy. Certainly close to what you want when compared to their other output, anyway.

PS: God fucking DAMN MA is slow right now... It shouldn't take 15 fucking minutes to edit a fucking post. FUCKING INTERNET IS A CUNT... but I'm also an impatient asshole with anger issues, apparently... I lost a piece of tooth from gnashing and grinding them so hard out of intense RAAAAAGE.
That a fucking page not loading caused that makes me really depressed about how lame of a person I apparently am... not that it probably wasn't aided by years of grinding my teeth like this all the fucking time.

Try Minuala, they seem to have the gloominess you're looking for.

Edging more towards metal, but you should really spin some Dystopia and Nausea (not the NYC crust pioneers, the LA crust/gind outfit).

You may like Social Distortion if you like Agent Orange, they were part of the same sort of movement.

As for the Dead Kennedys, I like the Melvins' work with Jello Biafra.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RN4Qlo8Dk3E

The Melvins are sort of at the line between hardcore, grunge, and metal. They "invented" grunge, despite the fact that their songs are heavy and aggressive, whereas most of the "grunge" that got popular is pretty much Led Zeppelin with a slightly more modern sound.

Anyone recommend any Motorhead influenced crust (Motorcrust)? Really getting into that recently so anything that I can get my hands on is great!

I know of them as well as these others already (some may be metalpunk but dont want them to be re-recommended):

Atomic Roar
Blizzard
Dishammer
Drunken Bastards
Toxic Holocaust
Wastelander
Whipstriker

Any Metalpunk/crust or Motorcrust would be a good rec! Thanks!

Instead of all those old 80s american hardcore bands already mentioned I would recommend some old swedish hardcore: it's better if you want to get drunk. Shitlickers was already mentioned tho!!! Good.

Moderat Likvidation - Brända Celler

You may want to check out the legendary Atavistic, who were a Thrash/Crust/Grind band from Whitstable in the UK during the 80s. Their only LP "Vanishing Point" (on Peaceville) had a bit more of a Motorhead groove than the chaotic noise of their two earlier EPs. Peaceville really needs to get their arses in gear to finally release their stuff on CD. Great band.

nothing beats the true fucking shitlickers though. they beat the bloody shit out of all those wannabe tough guy metal bands in terms of sheer brutality and violence.

some random german recommendations off the top of my head:

rawside - schlag zurück (off brd schlachtrufe V):

nva - wie lange noch? (KUGELHAGEL!!!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtx_lCQmNZE

slime - die letzten (deutschpunk legends):

wtz - discoarschgesicht:

disrupt - protest:

discharge - final bloodbath (to me their very best song ):

Been exploring some of the more melodic hardcore bands recently, and not the 'PMA' stuff like H2O, Gorrilla Biscuits and whatnot - I already dig that shit. I've been checking out those modern day Embrace/Rites of Spring worship bands recently. Modern Life is War, Ruiner etc. So I need reccs along the lines of those bands. Anyone?

You might like to give Night Hag a shot. Not quite ROS worship, but definitely on the melodic side of hardcore.

Modern melodic hardcore you say? I recommend The Carrier's No Love Can Save Me EP, Make Do And Mend's Bodies of Water EP, Daylight's Dispirit and Sinking EPs, Comeback Kid's Symptoms + Cures, Paint It Black's New Lexicon, and Verse's Aggression.

EDIT: Listening to Night Hag suddenly reminded me of Cursed. They're a modern hardcore band (though sadly defunct) but not too particularly melodic. They are, however, essential modern hardcore listening. All three of their full-lengths. They're titled I, II, and III respectively.

Murder Junkies, the album Antiseen and GG Allin did together is highly recommended... by ME.

"War In My Head" is such a great song, easily one of my favorites from GG and Antiseen both: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UC-sZOLY_sg

I don't know how much their material costs but try Effigy from Japan, really good crust/thrash stuff.

and for more obvious recs you could try Hellbastard and Antisect's "Out from the Void" EP.

+ Axegrinder.

i dont seem to get the fascination with axegrinder as it comes off to me as a half arsed in battle era bolt thrower.

but for something similar to amebix id go with Japans Zoe and there album The last axe beat as its very influenced by No sancuary era amebix

Oh, there is is an old Hardcore band that I saw at a friends place back in Reno called Houses. They're like a lot of early 90s screamo bands who played that style before it was a trendy thing to do. They broke up years ago, but they play shows occasionally and have songs up on their myspace page.

Not familiar with those bands but there was a great fast melodic hc band from atlanta called Quadiliacha. they used to have links to download most of their jams on their myspace

At the very least, I can say they fit nicely into a niche that not a really huge number of bands occupy.

If you're not familiar with CEREMONY then you're definitely going to want to rectify that. They have a few albums out now.

Their new album Rohnert Park is totally in the vein of old school and should be right up your alley:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UwzewiK ... re=related

Their earlier album Violence Violence is straightforward power-violence tinged hardcore comparable to Infest:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YbSWOFUrBo

Obligatory sing along anthem:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l2zj3CRi7U

I haven't been able to stop raving about this band lately so you'll have to excuse me...

Couple of crusty bands I've really been digging lately:
Shiro Ishii-
http://www.myspace.com/shiroishii
Got to see these guys live once, absolutely slayed. Noisy and dissonant, some grind thrown in.

Martyrdod:
http://www.myspace.com/martyrdod
Great crust band with some black metal influence thrown in.

I'd like to merge this with the grindcore thread, there's a lot of hardcore/crust talk there already. how do we get Mod attention?

For darker crust check out Skaven, they fucking rule! Unfortunately they didnt record much before breaking up but all 8 songs are awesome. Epic chugging crust with a taste of doom and great instrumental jams, two bass players and the guitarist from Asunder! They have a split with Dystopia that rules, a single and a split single with stormcrow that is also very good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaDob5nVUjs

Like Flies on Flesh are good dark crust with some more melodic parts but still rockin filthy crust. Their split with Asunder is a must have.

Graves at Sea are a little more Doom/Sludge but still a good example of the darker side of crust.

Gallery is awesome Deviated Instinct(check them out if you dont know them) influenced crust http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZc8j3OyLp0

Winteraxe is the shit! Crust meets Burzum-like black metal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaDob5nVUjs

This thread should not be merged with the grindcore thread, seperate scenes deserve seperate threads. A merge would get way too crowded and jumbled.
