A fuel injected metalpunk machine? This sounds like if Motorhead were a Discharge or Anti-Cimex worship band!

This LP fucking rips! 100% rock n roll. :headbang:

Not like Overcharge. But there's always Kuro, one of the better bands out of all these old japanese hardcore bands. (Also one of the most hardcore ones, see spoiler  )
Spoiler: show
Kuro gained nationwide infamy in Japanese HC scene after beating up all the members of 44Magnum in Kyushu around 1984, only because they all had blonde hair and were on a major label....!

They might look like some Glam rockers but...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXv-aIm2oV0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXkOOEtg_F4

More Japcore: Gai, Gism, Lipcream, Rose Rose, SS, The Stalin, The Execute, Gauze, The Comes, Zouo, L.S.D. and Sodom (The Japanese one, and their first tape, they later changed sound to a more goth/new wave punk sound. :-D )
Kuro and Lipcream are two of my all time favorites.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvLnSxc87_c (Lipcream - 9 Shocks Terror lp)

The SS never recorded only played live, they were active between 1978-1979 and were probably one (if not the first) of the first d-beat hardcore punk bands.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONTj9Hgh_To
one two three four!

Tip of the iceberg, there are thousands of these bands (just the 80's stuff)

Hello all!

I am looking for post-hardcore/emo bands in the vein of Title Fight, Basement, LaDispute, Citizen, mewithouYou etc BUT with female lead vocals. I am aware of and already a big fan of Now, Now and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Thanks in advance!

Can anybody recommend me some fast, aggressive, noisy d-beat similar to D-Clone's "Creation and Destroy" and Paranoid's(Swedish) "Satyagraha"? Maybe something like Halshug's "Blodets Bånd" as well.

Cheers

sounds like you are already familiar with the classic noisy d-beat like disclose, not familiar with paranoid.

Noisy japanese veterans (80's)

Absolut is pretty noisey and they released a split with Paranoid.

http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/%E ... ion/576717

I don't know if Wind of Pain from Bastard is noisey enough but it's an incredible album.

I gotta second Confuse and and Speed Noise Hardcore Rags from Gloom is a must.

Just listened to a few short snippets, both Disclose and Gloom sound cool, I'll look into them further tomorrow! Any other recs are more than welcome!

Already know that Zyanose album, but it didn't really do it for me. One of the things I really like about D-Clone and Paranoid is how punchy the drums are, maybe I should have specified that. Anyway, I'll check out the others, thanks a bunch!

I'm looking for post-metal with a depressive atmosphere and clean vocals. Some harsh vocals are fine, but I'd prefer to hear predominately clean singing, or at least half and half. Three bands who pull this style off in a way I like are Battle of Mice, Oathbreaker, and King Woman.

I would prefer to hear bands that play music like this but utilize clean male vocals, although I'd be fine with more female-fronted bands as well. I'm already pretty big into doom metal, so I'd prefer to hear bands that are more in the realm of atmospheric sludge or post-black metal rather than strictly doom metal.

Astronoid
Harakiri for the Sky
The new Bolzer perhaps?
Cult of Luna w/ Julie Christmas
Dark Tranquillity's newer stuff

I'm not a big fan of aforementioned bands, so I haven't heard much. Tell me if I'm on the right track or not.

Looking for (bumped from remind me thread) a track that starts with "nooooo, i fucked up. now i'm fucked... ". Either a crossover or hardcore band, probably in the line of Gallows. I think it had a black/w lyric video released in 2013. Something that might be released by a channel similar to blank tv or in that line of recommendations.

Discharge question.

Looking for a guide to those compilations. The Metal Archives band page lists 13 comps with a total of one user review. Not much of a start.
Though nowhere as numerous around as Judas Priest compilations or Motörheads, it seems to be some job to sort out. A quick glance at track lengths indicate that there must be several versions, or maybe just they put the track boundary like this or like that arbitrarily when transferring to CD?
Given that I am not so much of a punk fan but still a curious fuck, I'd like to know both what are just the good plain "best-of for those who won't buy all those records" and which ones include cool alternative versions - and especially those which include tracks that should be counted as essential, but are OOP elsewhere, if any.

And I'd like to know which ones I could just avoid due to bad (even at old punk standards) sound - and which ones are rip-offs. Including "legitimate" rip-off deals the band gains nothing from. (I would rather pirate those and then throw some ££s at https://dischargeofficial.bandcamp.com/ .)

These two albums Why (1981), Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing (1982) (must haves)

This singles collection: 1980-1986 lp
Collects the 7" EPs from 1980 to 1985, + the third LP "Grave New World" from 1986.
For a Best of album this one: Protest And Survive 1980-1984
Several more out there that collect live, demos, rehearsals you name it.

When it comes to alternative versions of songs/different recordings, most of these underground/diy punk bands re-recorded their songs many times, for compilations, splits etc. Some are rehearsal/demo recordings or live recordings (very common).
And exclusive songs on compilations is a hard one, because the amount of underground punk/hardcore compilations out there is insane, i find new ones all the time. Discharge were no different.

I hope the next bands you check out will be: The Varukers, Warwound and many other UKHC bands of the early 80's.
The years after those early Discharge releases spawned all these awesome d-beat hardcore punk bands from all over the world (thousands of them), and still is today mostly in the form of Discore, but many other genres too.

Why and HNSNSN are classics, sure ... but it isn't that simple. For example some HNSNSN CD versions have bonus tracks, like this one: https://www.discogs.com/Discharge-Hear- ... ase/860314
Have no idea what versions the bonus tracks are.

1980-1986 is LP only. Seems to me that https://www.discogs.com/Discharge-The-C ... ase/489907 is more or less the same, except Grave New World.
Same versions?
But then I could just as well go for the Anthology, Free Speech for the Dumb. Because on CD#2, tracks 6 through 19 are the entire HNSNSN (sans bonus tracks), right?
But again, same versions?

I'll try this again. I'm looking for noisy, hard-hitting d-beat in the vein of these albums, preferably full-lengths or compilations, more than like four minutes of music:

D-Clone - Creation and Destroy
Exclaim - Critical Exploder
Paranoid - Satyagraha

I'd throw in some links, but I'm on my phone.

Cheers!

Mostly EPs but most Discore/Disbeat is released as EPs. I think most of them have discography releases (Except for Plasmid who only released one demo).
Go Filth Go (Greece)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gJ7Lkx3z8w
Ferocious X (Japan)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaVncIHD4yo
The Wankys (USA? Not D-beat, but noise fuzz punk deluxe)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SWXlzZXGIg
L.S.D. (Japan)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8D9KXwdylY
Gai (Japan)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUXljDJuN_8
Plasmid (UK)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfKkIBAFEx4
And Disclosed - A Tribute to Disclose (Bands from all over the world)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSOCnYi23NY
And even more Disclose because they fucking destroy shit! One of the best.
Raw Brutal Assault Vol 1 & 2, i think these collects most of the demos, and 7" splits they did. 90+ songs in over 2 hours of noisy japanese d-beat insanity.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCNNjrj6fIk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BunBLvR8eU
In fact just ignore everything else and just go for Disclose!

And you might find something on this compilation: Terminal Noisy Bollocks: rough songs of fast British punk 81-87

I've been listening to 'Monolith,' by Amebix and was curious if anyone knew of anything that might have a more "mystical" or dark ambient bent to the music? I feel like this record touched on it quite a bit but wasn't explored further.
