I want thrash metal, death metal, speed metal, power metal or thrashlike black metal from the 80's and very early 90's. please nothing past 1992 unless it is a must hear and try to make sure it is bands that started between 1979-1989.

A Variety of bands that I like from this period.

Iron Maiden
Bathory
Dark Angel
Testament
Death
Helloween
early Slayer
Megadeth (rust in peace)
Atheist
Cacophony
Aspid

Suicidal Angels is a part of the new wave of thrash. There are tons of bands in the categories you are looking for and perhaps most of the discussion on this board is devoted to them.

I would look through the pages of the respective help threads of these genres and try and narrow down what you are looking for more.

Anyways I am obsessing over Exciter so far today and it has been getting me through my homework. First band that comes to my mind if someone asks me for speed metal.

Satan's Host's "Metal From Hell" offers a smooth synthesis of 80's thrash, speed, power, heavy, and early black metal. That's the 80's for ya...

In a way, "Metal From Hell" IS 80's metal incarnate.

Latter day Satan's Host brings those influences together under the banner of old school death metal, so that's literally everything you want in one package.

And of course, Deliverance(UK) had a rather unique style almost unheard and their 80s catalog had some really interesting songwriting that should be checked out.
