Hello, I'm looking for albums or songs that have a similar aquatic atmosphere as Alcest's Ecailles de lune and Alcest's Circe Poisoning the Sea. Thanks.

Haven't heard those songs/albums, but Ahab's "The Call of the Wretched Sea" is an obvious one if you're looking for aquatic atmosphere.

...which reminds me of Mastodon's Leviathan, which also features a whale on its cover.

Here's the best song off the album:

Not like Alcest, but you could check out ICS vortex's solo album storm seeker. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Vz-ud3RnoA

Isis' Oceanic and Devin Townsend's Ocean Machine both sound aquatic, to some degree. Fungoid Stream's Celaenus Fragments might also fit the bill; the second track in familiar definitely has a mysterious oceanic feel to it.

I honestly can't think of any relatively unknown bands. How familiar are you with Manilla Road's The Deluge?

About half of Velvet Cacoon's catalog is concept albums about the sea (or whatever).

Cool screen name, btw.

I get this feeling from Worm Ouroboros' debut.

hmm, possibly not the same atmosphere as your Alcest songs, but some of Devin Townsend's work has this special feel. Esp. his Ocean Machine project and in that esp. the opener "Seventh wave". Have a listen here, maybe you like it despite of not equaling Alcest:

Nothing like Alcest, but Giant Squid. Their main songwriter is a scuba diver/instructor and used to own an aquarium or fish store or something like that.

A more doomy track of theirs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JV-tIhF64B8

Well, if featuring whales is a criterion, you can't go past Gojira. Check out 'From Mars to Sirius', which is a concept album about whales travelling through space... or something. Anyway, 'tis awesome. And aquatic, in a stormy sea kinda way. And their latest single, 'Blood and Salt', is all about whales/the ocean/seafaring (and any profits go to awesome eco-warriors and whale-saviours Sea Shepherd, so it helps said ocean as well).

Try Geïst's Galeere for some maritime black metal, which is aided by occasional aquatic effects/samples.

On that note you could try Ocean as well. They never gave me an especially "aquatic" vibe but neither did most of the bands mentioned in here so...? Their "Here Where Nothing Grows" album is a minimal yet incredibly dense piece of doom with an staggeringly oppressive atmosphere and some just crushing guitar tones

Diabolical Masquerade - Darkblue Seajourneys of the Sentinel

Probably not similar to Alcest but still the best BM "Oceanic" song.

I just remembered the doom/death band On Thorns I Lay, whose album, Orama, is very aquatic in terms of atmosphere. Might want to give them a look-see.

Searching for an oceanic atmosphere, it might be worth listening to the "Throne of the Depths" album by Drautran:

Feeling like being twenty thousand leagues under the sea.

Seconded! Here are a few

Paleoachean: Man & The Sea
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXEOEWYKSvI
"Free man, you shall forever cherish the ocean!
The sea is your mirror; you contemplate your soul
In its eternal waves that chafe and roll
Your mind's abyss is bitter as the sea"

City in the Sea
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeXHNuyZqPI
"But light from out the lurid sea
Streams up the turrets silently
Gleams up the pinnacles far and free
Up domes -- up spires -- up kingly halls --
Up fanes -- up Babylon-like walls --
No swellings tell that winds may be
Upon some far-off happy seas
No heavings hint that winds may be
On seas less hideously serene."

One with the Ocean
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_-OKPUN7bU
"One day I become the stream
The stream that flows to the ocean
The moment of peace
Right before drowning
The final release when I'm becoming one with the sea"

Swallowed by the Earth
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lX9oAYouDU
"And no one realized the Gods in Heaven
Were giving all of them a reason to go
And no one expected the water
That now reached up to their throats
Swallowed by the earth
They disappear
And so do we all"

For He that Wavereth...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lp8SyPbj41I
"One is supposed to be submerged in belief
Somehow by a miracle
And from then on to swim in it
As in the least ambiguous of elements
And even just a glance towards land
The thought that one perhaps might be there for something else as well as swimming
Even the slightest impulse of our amphibious nature is sin!
What they want is an eternal song over the waves in which reason has drowned"
