I love DMST, they often get overlooked in relation to the whole Godspeed thing. I have a few recs for you, though I'm never sure if they fall into post-rock or math-rock.

I'm looking for something that sounds like Fever Ray's If I Had a Heart (the song that opens the tv show Vikings).

I'm looking for artists that sound like Aphex Twin's early material, specifically the old-school acid-techno side of things rather than the glitchy electronica that he later became known for. I'd prefer it to have that rough DIY feel that Aphex does so well rather than anything slick and polished. As a fan since the early 90s I know the obvious names like Mu-Ziq and Kosmik Kommando (Mike Dred), and I'm well-steeped in the more electronica/IDM side of things, so I'm specifically after that acid-techno side of Aphex's sound. It can be from the 80s/90s, or more recent. I suspect there will be a lot of obscure BandCamp artists trying to emulate the classic Aphex sound, can you recommend any?

Any suggestions for dark ambient/electronic artists like The Haxan Cloak? Love his last album.

That's pretty damn good, cheers! I've known the name for years, even had a track on a comp somewhere, just never explored his stuff; for some reason I'd always imagined him sounding a bit more mainstream. Thanks again.

Looking for stuff like Have a Nice Life's The Unnatural World, preferably a bit more even in terms of mixing and a bit more fluid as an album (track to track feels a bit jarring).

I know other acts like Wreck and Reference and Planning For Burial; they're good too. But something like this LP is what I'm really after.

Hi... Not sure if I'm going to recieve a reply but I'll give it a shot anyways.

I'm looking for really dark industrial or ambient stuff, highly dissonant and disharmonic, somewhere I read about how highly disharmonic music induced fear, dread or horror to a person's mind, the post had a youtube video of a song like this, and while I wasn't exactly "afraid" I found it captivatingly unsettling. It reminded me of Silent Hill for some reason, when the walls become bloodied and rusted steel and everything got dark.

Try a band called The Haxan Cloak. Droney dark ambient that sounds like it came out of a Silent Hill game.

Greetings, I recently fell in love with the band Flying Saucer Attack and their veils of fuzzy guitars and subliminal folk melodies. Kinda shoegazy but not as poppy, Droney but with more song, electric and loud but not too heavy.

Anyone know of anything like this?

That was groovy, but I'm looking for a little more fuzz and reverb. Think along these lines: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5hB2C-cw_bc

Still that song was fun and I'll look into that band.

New Swallowed is great. Although way more tangible than Grave Upheaval. Same goes for Sempiternal Dusk.

I am looking for drone bands with poetic/poemlike lyrics and spoken word recitation vocals. Something like this...

I'm looking for bands that does this in every song or most of the songs

most certianly belongs in the black metal thread. Have a tough enough time of people responding to requests here, (still waiting on some Dead Can Dance recs that aren't neo-folk).

Post this in the BM thread.

For the enjoyers of dark ambient, drone music and similar music; my project Nodus Tollens. 'Hollow Eyes, Empty Voice' was actually recorded this week after reading 'The Shadow Over Innsmouth' once more. The ominous feel I get reading this amazing novella; channeled through sound.

i gave you some recs in the black metal thread even though it's not a metal album. not very surprised you didn't get any other suggestions, i don't think theres many posters on here into electronic music, and if there is they're probably not checking the black metal thread.

What do you think of Folkstorm/Nordvargr? It was a source of inspiration when I came up with my harsh noise/avant-garde project Ana Mawt, but I didn't really come across with similar musicians. I like this "rhythmic power electronics" vibe.

Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement

Been really into this guys tunes lately. Long droney dark ambient - sometimes with a subtle driving bass drum. Everything they've put out is pretty solid.

Anyone listen to trip hop? I don't, so maybe my assumption that this song could be called that is incorrect, but that's my best attempt at labeling it:

I am looking for some other dark, moody, "urban" music like this, suitable for pre-dawn strolls around the neighborhood (er, I mean graveyard).

Nothing overly "cool", if you get my meaning. Nothing too "Projekt-y" either. I'm not a 16 year old goth girl from 1997. I just want some gloomy, trippy, somewhat ethereal old school hip-hop for pale crackers like me to listen to while totally not staring into peoples' windows at 4 AM.

That WEEEEE-WEEOO-WEEOO-WWWEEEEEE synth adds a lot, I think, so I'd like to hear something with plenty of that. IDK what you even call that sound, but it's in loads of early 90's hip-hop. I've always just called it the "Snoop Dogg synth" as that's the earliest artist I can recollect hearing it from.

The remix I've posted is by Zip Campisi/Bigod 20, but their music doesn't really sound anything like this remix to me. It's all too "edgy" and it just sounds like cheesy 90's EBM.

Looking for something kind of like Khlyst, but without the vocals, something instrumental. Prefer something like dark ambient rather than doom/drone.

Something similar, like this, but just really dark and gut-wrenching creepy:

Not sure if anyone can help me with this but i don't know where else to ask.

I'm looking for some modern "brostep" that's both melodic and heavy without being obnoxious. Specifically stuff like Joe Ford's "The Mission" EP:
Spoiler: show

Every time i look for music in this style i just get generic shit like Zomboy so i'd love to find more stuff like this.
