I'm looking for some modern "brostep" that's both melodic and heavy without being obnoxious. Specifically stuff like Joe Ford's "The Mission" EP:

Every time i look for music in this style i just get generic shit like Zomboy so i'd love to find more stuff like this.

Try this one:

What are the most recommended albums by Nurse With Wound, Coil and Merzbow? Don't have time at the moment to go through the whole discographies. 3-5 albums per band would be ideal.

I'm not that familiar with his earlier stuff but for Merzbow:

Harsher 90's material
Rainbow Electronics
Noisembryo
Pulse Demon

Later more "experimental" stuff
Japanese Birds series
Merzbear

For Coil i strongly suggest to check out first Horse Rotorvator (probably their masterpiece) and both the two Musick to play in the dark albums (the first one is the one i like the most) then you can try Love's Secret domain and The ape of naples

Can someone recommend me some blackgaze that has lot more 'gaze' than 'black' in its musical DNA? Like, normally blackgaze is black metal up a few tricks from shoegazing and post-rock. Instead, I'd like some shoegaze that occasionally touches on black metal tropes. As a point of reference, the only music I know of that fits this description is Have a Nice Life.

I've heard a lot of people compare HANL to Planning for Burial, but honestly I don't see the similarities that much. But you may want to check em out. They're album "leaving" is there best imo. To me, HANL have more in common with The Angelic Process, Nadja, Suffering Astrid, Ambersmoke, and those types of drone/doom/blackgaze/whatever you call it type bands.

Cheers mate. I just recently discovered The Angelic Process, and they're more of what I'm looking for. They're different to Have a Nice Life, though they still have the whole 'gloomgaze' feel.

Is there anything that sounds close to Melt Banana's music without such fucking annoying vocals?

I am looking for some bands/albums which has a similar feel as in Meshuggah's Behind the Sun. Or Demiurge. There's a lot of doom/drone elements going on in these songs and almost the entirety of the album Koloss. I am trying to find out bands which have a similar kind of feel. No, I am not looking for "djent" shit, that's the tone. I am looking at similar doom chord selection as used by Meshuggah. Slow. Low tuned. Droney. Hope I was able to explain it properly.

Some examples of these Meshuggah songs with the droney/doomy feel:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1nGplcVZTQ

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xD-KJSjIxw

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lklU89L8sXs

(And almost the whole Koloss album)

From what I have noticed, they have one guitar playing these slow, down tuned, droney riffs while the other guitar plays the usual doom clean chords.

Really not sure if this is the right thread for this-- it was this or the neofolk one and I figured this thread fit the question better. I've been getting into some of the dark, goth-tinged, sort of ambient stuff along the lines of Dargaard and Love Is Colder Than Death, but trying to find more stuff like that, I keep running into stuff that's too rock-oriented, or too neoclassical in influence, or just doesn't have the right mood. I'm basically looking for any suggestions along the lines of this, in tone, mood, and style. Dark, quiet, vaguely medieval-ish.

A few days ago I watched a short music-doc about a Danish band called Blaue Blume.

https://soundcloud.com/blaueblumedk

I'm looking for something kinda similar to this. I've been listening to a few track from bands such as Lush, My Bloody Valentine, Pale Saints and a few others, but it doesn't really do it for me. What I really like about Blaue Blume is the passionate vocals, and I imagine it'd be hard to find a band with similar vocals I especially like the track "Candy".

Anybody?

I always thought her vocals were part of the charm haha Melt Banana's music has changed a lot. Is there any specific album to go by?

Not sure if this fits here but shoegaze is mentioned as an influence. I am looking for stuff similar to Alisons Halo. Airy female vocals, clean and distorted guitars, a bright mood. Songs like Wishes and Sunshy for example

What's out there that sounds like the last song on that Misthyrming album? Just eerie, somewhat melancholic ambient, I guess.

This also fits

Bro, listen to The Haxan Cloak. Excavation has some occasional rhythmic elements and consequentially it's not totally ambient, but in terms of eerie, atmospheric electronic music it's among my favourites.

What's the most aggressive power noise there is? Kinda like hardcore techno or gabber but with noise instead of synth. Heaviest I know is Converter.

Actually something like this but with beats would be cool:

Thanks! That Winterkälte track is exactly what I'm looking for! All the rest is way too slow and most of it too soft.

Really been enjoying I Am A Lake of Burning Orchids' Innocence, Prurient's Frozen Niagara Falls, NON's Children of the Black Sun, and Lost Salt Blood Purges' Only the Youngest Grave recently. Recommend me more noise albums that master feelsy atmospherics as much as they do pummeling static. I particularly love stuff with abstract spoken word parts.

I would assume this would be the right thread to ask for recommendations for stuff similar to Trepaneringsritualen's more pulsing rhythmic material (The Totality of Death/Perfection & Permanence/Papist Pretender). Thanks

There is nothing like Folkstorm, the guy had a unique approach. The closest I can think of would be noisy martial industrial, Front Sonore. It's pretty amateurish and sometimes too cute with it's super overt leftism, but they have some good stuff.

Turbund Sturmwerk use the same tune as Folkstorm above by the way, though of course not with Swedish lyrics. It's the third track on their debut album. Not on YouTube apparently.

Anyone looking for some cinematic dark ambient needs to check out Cryo Chamber's offerings:

https://cryochamber.bandcamp.com

I'm a big fan of Atrium Carceri:

And Metatron Omega:

But their entire roster is solid.

"Vegan Martial/Dark Ambient/Noise " immediately puts me off. What the hell does vegan have to do with music. Does the music contain no animal products?

I've been getting more and more into New Order and grown pretty fond of this dance rock/synthpop/new wave/whatever thing they do on later albums. Can anyone recommend me some music similar to New Order's "Technique" or these tracks:

Hey dudes, looking for some new shoegaze for my summer playlist. Stuff that leans towards the distorted, more blown out side with a decent beat behind it, yknow? If comparisons helped I was big into the noisier Whirr and No Joy tunes last summer.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this or not, but they're not metal enough for MA so I guess I'll ask here. Anyone got any good recs for bands that sound like Turmion katilot? catchy euro-dance metal preferably also in Finnish

I am looking for some Speedcore that is more insane than the stuff m1dy produces.
Some examples:
Chimpanzee Tank https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9photkRU0Jo
This song has lots of samples of Chimps going apeshit insane, very funny haha.

Cold Pizza https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbAed6kHKWA
37 Dicks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTnHdWA9WTE
KumonEverybody https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JSKIBdrOak

And so on, i have not really explored Speedcore at all, only m1dy and the stuff Martin Damm did (The Speed Freak/Biochip C. dude)
So obvious ones are ok.
Bonus points for samples of chimps doing their thing.

Also any tips of old school hardcore gabber? (90's)
Stuff like this: Creepozoids - One More Time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79qaDJ1g-o0
Or this: The Speed Freak - Body Hammer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYLG-_SOxmQ
Thanks!
I hope this is the correct thread for this.
