Blood Ink is a hardcore/metalcore band. Previously rejected at least twise. The album exist, but the band is not a metal band, mainly jump-da-fuck-up hardcore.

Understood. A blacklist message didn't pop up when I've inserted their name, so, I thought it would be related to the lack of valid releases. Thanks, I'll edit the upper post.

This is true. Added the alternate spelling(s) to the alternate spellings field.

Regarding Nightwing from the NWOBHm list: It's this famous hard rock band, that is currently blacklisted, so it can be removed from the list:

Anopther band from the NWOBHM list, slide: It¨smost likely this aor/hard rock band Slide from Glasgow, which has released one album in 1989:
https://www.discogs.com/artist/96911-Slide-3
So this band can be removed, too.

Thanks, Witcher. Nightwing was removed. I think that Slyder, the band listed is different than Slide from Gasgow. That came from Zygmunt's list of nwobhm bands, and I'm sure that was spelled the way it is purposely.

Needs research. - Astral Melancholy
Genre: Raw/Ambient Black Metal
Location: Rovaniemi, Finland

Came across this band and according to several blogs, youtube videos and Spirit of Metal they released a self-/untitled demo in 2010:
https://www.spirit-of-metal.com/de/albu ... oly/188794
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuhzQnoo-S4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2j3hS3nKb18

The thing was alledgedly released by Self Mutilation Services, but an archived version from their homepage from 2010 and an archived version of their Bandcamp page from 2012 don't seem to list anything related to the band and they never mentioned it on Facebook either.

Looking at the artwork of the "demo", there's also the logo of a band called Buer on it who confirmed in a youtube video that they were working on a split with Astral Melancholy.
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Buer/3540299581

Presumably the split was never released and Astral Melancholy decided to release the songs independently? Or the split was released but any trace of it vanished?
I have no idea.

Needs some solid proof anything was properly released at one point. The band is currently blacklisted because of repeated submissions without proof of anything.

Regarding the nwobhm list: I think, that the band Tawntaw can be removed too, since their guitarist and leade Tony Steers has previously played commercial hard rock with Rage, and we can't suspect , that Tawntaw wuld sound any different:
https://www.discogs.com/master/247979-Rage-Nice-N-Dirty
https://open.spotify.com/album/3HSb3X2zlDiEDZAvOzSP52
http://link2wales.co.uk/liverpool-n-z/liverpool-r/

Similar goes for tghe band Savage Lucy, which was frformed mostly Marseille members. marseille was a hard rock band, often falsely credited as a nwobhm band, and there is no reason to think, that Savage lucy wuld sound otherwise.
https://www.reverbnation.com/marseille/ ... -you-ready

Another such case - the band Bordello with ex-Janine members. considering , that Janine played only commercial hard rock, it is almost certain, that this band was musically in the similar field:

First

Many bands used the same names or very similar names.
One letter sometimes makes a big difference.

Secondly

Thanks for reminding me about Enigma.
I haven't included any band called Enigma on the NWOBHM list (all the more so as you suggest from Middleton, Manchester, though I'm thinking deeply about that) so I'm not sure what you mean.
Every now and then I try to update this list, I should do it soon and there will be at least one band called Enigma on it.
The one from Solihull will definitely be on this list.

Needs research - Ex-Terminate
Location: Norway
Genre: Heavy Metal (?), Punk (?)
Band members: Kay-Egil Hauan (bass), Espen Hernes (guitar) and Martin Holmes (drums)
Discography: Demo (4 songs, late '80s), "Death Penalty and Other Crimes" cassette (1989)
Discogs: https://www.discogs.com/release/3055788 ... her-Crimes (listed as punk, though this can't be counted on much)
- 4-song demo review in 1988 "Street-Fighter #15" 'zine, translated to English: (described as heavy, having a rhythmic drive, inspired by old Black Sabbath, but with rough sound quality) -
Spoiler: show
Exterminate is a trio from Kyrksæterøra consisting of Kay-Egil Hauan (bass), Espen Hernes (guitar) and Martin Holmes (drums). Their demo consists of four songs, but unfortunately it has such poor sound quality that it does not have much purpose for the band. It is probably recorded directly on a regular cassette player in some basement. The sound quality of the demo makes it difficult to give a clear assessment of the band and the songs. The four songs are at least "Exterminate", "No weakling", "P.R.M.C." and "Johnny B. Goode." The songs are probably so similar, and clearly inspired by old Black Sabbath. It is heavy and rhythmic drive without the big variations and tempo changes. I would hope Exterminator has something to learn yet. Something should be done with the vocals. It is unlikely that this demo will result in a record deal for the group.

Rock. - Revenge
Spoiler: show
Location: Gol, Buskerud, Viken County, Norway
Genre: Heavy Metal (?)
Band members: Jan K. Hovde (guitars/vocals), Lars E. Bakko (drums), Magne Frydenlund (bass/vocals)
Were also featured in SF #13 'zine (haven't found the article yet)
Band photo: https://imgur.com/a/hj2cybl
- put out a couple of demo tapes by 1988. One contained the tracks: Give It Up/ Possession. "She Is a Lady" was a song recorded the second time they were in the studio.
Interview in Street Fighter #15 'zine (1988), translated to English (no description of the music, unfortunately) -
Some may remember a short piece that was about the group Revenge from. Gol who was in SF no. 13. Now the band has been in the studio and done a couple of demos, and they are betting like never before. I think it's time for a little more material about the group now that something is happening. In mid-July I took a trip to Gol to talk to Jan K. Hovde (guitar / vocals) and Lars E. Bakko (drums).
JAN DAHLE
Jan K. started by talking about the demo recordings.
- We were in Waterfall studio in Oslo. It was me and Magne Frydenlund (bass / singing) who studied sound engineering at the school, and the principal at the school suggested Waterfall because there is a cheap and good studio. The first time we were inside we recorded two songs. It was not so bad what we did then, but we are not completely happy with the mix. The second time we were in the studio because we came in 3rd place in a competition the newspaper Fremtiden in Drammen had. The prize was ten hours in the studio. Then we chose Waterfall again because we were famous there. We actually meant to record two songs at the time as well, but the time was a little too short for that, and we concentrated on one song to get it as good as possible. We have then also been satisfied with it.
SF: - And now you have thought about going to the record companies with the demo.
- We visited CBS with the first two songs. They liked one, "Give it up", but not the other, "Possession". At least they would hear more from us to see if we had more songs in the style of "Give it up". It is possible we record a concert and send them "She is a lady", the song we recorded the second time in the studio, along with the live tape. We are a live band. We are several times better on stage than in the studio.
SF: - Do you write a lot of songs at the moment?
- Not so much. It was more before. But on the other hand, the songs we make now are better than the ones we made before.
SF: - The songs you recorded in the studio, are they new?
Both and. "Give it up" was almost completely new when we were in the studio in May, but "Possession" is probably one year old. It has changed a lot over time. The drums are completely different and the bass just as well. Magne has become a much better bass player, and constantly surprises with the rehearsals.
SF: - Do you have anything special about gigs?
- No, it's bad. We will play (done when this is read) at the Sundhaug Festival on 27 August. We are a member of Busk Rock, and the leader there asked if we would join.
SF: - What kind of plans do you have for the future?
- Do not quite know. I (Jan K.) will go to Norsk Lyd school if I come in. But of course we continue with Revenge, and now we are fully committed.
I had a little chat with Jan again at the end of July, and then he could tell that they would send a tape to England. It so happens that they came in contact with a guy from Nottingham who has knowledge of a small company there. Jank. was really optimistic about this scheme, and was in full swing arranging the issues to be sent when I spoke to him.
- write-up in issue #13. Looks like more rock. Will put the translation here anyway, since I looked into the band this far already:
Hallingdal is not just fiddles and two rows. From Gol comes the band Revenge. I had heard that they were going to be pretty good, and one night this fall I went to see them live. It turned out to be a big surprise. Here is a short presentation of the band.
JAN DAHLE
Revenge was started in 1986 by Jan K. Hovde (guitar / vocals) and Magne Frydenlund (bass / vocals). They played together for a while before they got Lars E. Bakko on drums about a year ago. Musically, Revenge is rock, and maybe in the style of Stage Dolls at times. However, they are so absolutely no copy. That's what's so positive about this band, they write very good songs without copying other bands too much. They have a lot of their own songs, and at the concerts they have 2025 own songs to choose from next to some covers.
When it comes to jobs, there are mostly dance jobs to get. And since they mostly play for dance, it usually means that they have to play a number of cover songs. Then it goes into things like Scorpions, TNT, Stage Dolls and other melodic heavy and rock bands. They have had
more than 20 gigs in the last year, and in Hallingdal they are starting to get a good name. The biggest concert they have done was for almost 5000 people at a 4H convention. They often play for the youth clubs in the valley. They have also participated in a talent competition, where they became No. 2, and only beaten by a band that was actually supposed to line up in another class
Jan K. Hovde writes most of the songs, with a little help from Magne Frydenlund. Songs like "Angel", "Wild summer nights" and "I did the best I could" are definitely worth noting. One problem the band has is that they have not yet recorded a proper demo. However, they have plans to get into the studio soon. This band is significantly better than many other Norwegian bands that have released records.
They have quite different influences. Jan K. is a fan of Led Zeppelin, Marillion, Stage Dolls and Vandenberg. Magne listens to pretty much everything from Huey Lewis to Metallica. Lars E. is the big metal fan with role models in groups like Kiss, Def Leppard and TNT. Revenge is proof that things can happen in Hallingdal as well. Now it's time to move on.

Needs research - Pirate
Location: New Jersey, US
Band member: Mike Gorham (ex-Without Warning) - https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... rham/71892
- active in the late '80s. When Mike joined, the former Pirate vocalist joined Rude Awakening (New Jersey?). Unknown if there were any releases, but Without Warning was a really good metal band.
(edit Oct. 11th, '23): Additional information - members in addition to Mike Gorham ( https://www.facebook.com/VoxBox )

Added. - Napalm
Spoiler: show
Location: Langhus, Ski, Norway
Genre: Hard Rock/Heavy Metal (maybe more likely rock, but would be worth confirming)
Discography: "Iron Man" / "Alcatraz" 7" (1983) - https://www.discogs.com/release/4581749 ... n-Alcatraz
- Demo 1987 (track listing: The Raider/ Creature of the Night/ City of Sin)
article in Street-Fighter #13 'zine (which also has a band photo), translated to English:
[spoiler]Napalm comes from Langhus in Ski municipality outside Oslo, and they have existed since 1981.. Since then, they have developed a lot both musically and stylistically. They play melodic hard rock.
In 1983, they recorded their only record release to date with the single "Iron man / Alcatraz". On that record, "Iron man" was a good song, which is very OK to listen to. The other is a bit in the daffeste team. The single was made at his own expense, and released on TNT Records.
Well in 1987 they have made a three-song demo, and you can clearly hear that the band has made great progress. The sound is fuller, and plays much more varied and rich in content than on the single. The songs on the demo are "The raider", "Creature of the night" and "City of sin".
The ensemble in Napalm is Odd Sætre (guitar), Dag Jøran Gravdal (drums), Geir Frode Trondseth (bass), Siv Joan Hermansen (vocals) and Svein Thomsen (guitar).
- We have had most club jobs since the beginning, and we have participated in festival events and competitions. Among other things, we have reached the final of the Follo Championship in pop and rock two years in a row, says drummer Gravdal.
The band has a repertoire of their own songs that last for an hour of playing.
- We have changed a part of the crew over the years. It is first and foremost guitarist and vocalist we have had problems with, he says.
Siv Joan Hermansen is the latest addition to the band. She only sings "The raider" on the demo. The other two songs are older recordings with Dag J. Gravdal as vocalist. Now Napalm is hoping for more gigs. We do not think there is anything in the way of them doing it. They are a consistently good band, and of the five songs we have heard, we like best "Iron man" from the single and "City of sin" from the demo.

Regarding Ex-Terminate: Their guitarist Espen Hernes was also a member of this harhardcore punk band in the nineties and since he was obviously the leader of Ex-PTerminate, it is qiite likely to assume, that they soonded similar to this. this band is also marked as "punk" on Discogs:

Regarding the pre-Kilmara band Jadde (Barcelona, Spain) there is some information about their demo in this magazine (words are searchable here with control+F - try demo title, "El Yang" to get to the article). Article in Spanish.

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=104654&p=2974085&hilit=jadde#p2974085
https://issuu.com/hijosdelmetalzine/doc ... tal_zine_5
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Kilmara/90160

If someone can find enough to add them, feel free to do so (the same goes for any band that I've posted about in here).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Regarding Resurrection Hell (Colombia), about a month ago they announced that their first demo, "Evil Tormentor" will be released soon.
Feel free to submit if and when it's possible to do so.

For anyone who's willing to do some profound research, there's a bunch of artists attached to some bands that have, apparently, released something. There were also some cases like this, in which the entries were most likely fake, but all this information has to come from somewhere:

https://www.metal-archives.com/users/StormWatcher

I haven't been active lately here and won't be, apart from some weekends, due to work, but there's a tip that can be followed by someone who's interested in finding some new bands that weren't added yet or to report duplicates: search a random artist name in the main page and see those who aren't attached to any catalogued band. Then, go check out the modification history. I've done this a lot, last month and most of the bands I've added from December were unearthed that way.
Thanks.

Discography: Unknown. The submitter might have something added to his drafts, but I wasn't able to find anything about the band just by searching on Google. Also, he's the band's guitar player.

Thanks, Witcher. Of the 3 songs on the Rude Awakening tape, one was re-recorded by Godspeed 2 years later, "Religious Death" - https://erinbrockwaycollins.bandcamp.co ... ious-death . They should be fine to add if you'd like to do so.

Genre: Heavy metal/Hard Rock

Probably the first slovk heavy metal band , founded in 1981. They had no official recordings during their original activity perio, but in 2018, former members of the band recorded a slf-titled album with newly recorded versions of their old songs. It was allegedly released onCD, but the Discogs page is apprently not enough as a proof, so I need moe clear proof of valid release of the CD.

'zine article from around 1985 (in German language) w/ band photo: https://imgur.com/a/7N7gglk
(translation of article:
Spoiler: show
It was January of 1982 when <All member names> joined together and formed the band Scanner. With this formation they made the complete south of France unsafe for 1,5 years. Scanner mostly played for large audiences: 1000 people in Valence, 450 in Lumina (here the Tygers of pan Tang only had 150!) and one for their unforgettable performance with Def Leppard (3500 people) in Lyon. In the end of 1983 the brothers premaillon left the band and were replaced by Djurovic and Baran. The band had already recorded two demos, hence they never really got a lot of attention. The band persevered and on September 2 and 3 of 1984 the band records two songs, Mes Congeneres second version and Le Faux Amour. From these songs it turned out Scanner had more to offer. They love melodies, beautiful guitar solos and not to forget a concrete drum sound that make the songs as one.
A possible tour is planned for the spring of this year in the northern part of France and Belgium. We can also expect a new demo from this young French band).

Added. - Claymore
Spoiler: show
Location: Germany
Genre: Heavy Metal (?)
Discography: Demo 1989 (track listing: The Golden Wings of Freedom/ Claymore/ Warning in the Night)
- I deleted this from Claymore's M.A. page (a different band, that formed in 1998) several months back. It had been listed there since version 1 of the site. I didn't find anything on Google by typing in the band name with some of the song titles. There is information about a band named Claymore from Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg on the Corroseum, mentioning that in an issue of Metal Hammer from summer 1988 it was reported that they were completing recording for their debut album at Frank K. Studio in Witten. It seems that the album never came to be, but it could be the same band.
(Paganius1) - A band with that name played on the "4. Germany Rocks Festival" in Kaufbeuren in 1990. (also on that bill in March '90 was Domain, Heavens Gate, and Tyrant)

Thanks a lot, Paganius! I've just submitted Elrik.
I wasn't able to find any sound samples or information about the release format of Galactic Orb's works.

As for Bloody Death, I was able to scratch some info, but I don't know if that's sufficient to garantee their approval.

There's a small review in an online zine. It's identified as a death metal/brutal death metal demo:

http://velhochicorockclube.blogspot.com ... ferno.html

Spoiler: show
Starting off with excerpts of a diabolical possession that reminds you about the real existence of the angel of death, "Portal Para o Inferno" goes on with six tracks, full of heaviness, compensating in fury and sincerity what it lacks in sonorous quality (as it is an independent release).

The title track is a great composition and brings good variations (sic) translating what it is, in its lyrics, as an eternal sleep; then, "Marchando Para o inferno", that will remind you a lot about the last song, in what seems like a conceptual album. An interesting alternance between aggressive velocity and slowness shows what "A Morte" is, that also brings the best solo on the disc. "Hino de Guerra" is fast, aggressive and
devastated, where it sounds like the drums appear to constrast with the rest of the sonorous destruction that is dictated by the other instruments - that's also how the last one sounds like, that ends up with the massacre that was proposed by Bloody Death in their first demo disc, that's all sung in Portuguese.

There's also this piece of information that makes a small summary about the band:

Spoiler: show
http://velhochicorockclube.blogspot.com/2010/01/bloody-death.html

"SATANISMO, MORTE, guerras e caos são apenas alguns dos temas abordados pela Bloody Death, esta banda de death metal formada na cidade de Petrolina-PE que nasceu inspirada nos melhores precursores do estilo, como Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Death, Diabolical e Benediction. "

"Satanism, death, wars and chaos are just some of the lyrical themes written by Bloody Death, this death metal band that was formed in the city of Petroline-PE, that was born upon the inspiration of the best forerunners of the genre, such as Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Death, Diabolical and Benediction."

http://velhochicorockclube.blogspot.com ... -demo.html

This one identifies their demo as being released as a CD:

Spoiler: show
"O http://WWW.BRUTALZONE.BLOGSPOT.COM, blog especializado em metal extremo e que tem uma grande importância na internet para os headbengers, disponibilizou um link para download do CD Portal Para o Inferno, primeiro trabalho demo da banda Bloody Death. "

"[website], a blog specialized in extreme metal and with such a big importance on the internet to the headbangers, shared a link for the download of the CD "Portal para o inferno", the first demo work by Bloody Death."

That Brutalzone blogspot is dead. But the comparisons made by VCRC don't seem to be very far off from reality to me, because I'd say that, if they know all these bands, they're certainly able to identify a brutal/death metal album when they listen to it.
What do y'all think?

Thanks!

Added. - Nation
Spoiler: show
Location: Unknown (Norway)
Genre: Heavy Metal/Hard Rock
- a bunch of songs and photos of this band are uploaded on YouTube, dated 1984-'86, and in the description 'London' (recorded there?). The Odda, Hordaland, Norway band "Park Staff" (whose music is uploaded by the same person) recorded around the same time period, also in London. There is likely a connection between the two bands. Uploader name Tamasox Waters isn't listed in the M.A. Park Staff line-up, but there was one member from the band's early line-up yet to be identified. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6RFe3 ... ery=nation

- songs from '85, studio: Stranger in the Night, Evils Return, Fly High, Give Us Tomorrow, Journey, Technical, Another Soul, War
- song from '86, studio: Top Secret (Sigma studio, Bergen, Norway)
Someone chimes in on a lot of the comments (Robert Cantu, Utah, US of the cover band Reality Check) and comments several times, seeming to know the drummer - a family member, friend, or possibly is the drummer himself? https://www.facebook.com/robert.cantu.56 (message sent, Jan. 21)
- other than Park Staff and Nation, the other bands uploaded (seeming to be a collection of a person's recordings over the years) are Lickweed (Halden 2000), Butikjazz, and Fumble (1997, recorded in the same London studio that Norway's Park Staff recorded in).
