Needs research. - 43 Phreeks (United States, Progressive/groove metal)

From Akron, Ohio. They seemingly played progressive/groove metal or something around those lines. Known period of activity is between 2003 and late 2005 (last known activity was on 11/11/05). Released a physical demo in DVD or CD (format unclear), and apparently recorded a music video.

They could also have been a nu-metal band given they shared stages with bands of that genre. But no songs are available in the web as far as I'm concerned.

Demo (15/06/2004, CD or DVD)
1. Pick Up the Slack
2. This Hate
3. Paradigm

Cover art (apparently):

From what I could dig up, it was sold or given for free at shows and by contacting the band members.

Known band members:
- J-Dub (Bass)
- Shaggy (Guitars)
- Fitz (Vocals, 2004-) (ex-CSTSD, ex-Sinical, ex-The Anti-Drama Heroes, ex-The Stiffies)

- Link Phreek (Joseph Berlyak) (Drums, 2003-2005) (ex-Broken Shoes, ex-Drazah Raw, ex-Eastwind, ex-Fatal Intentions, ex-Livewire, ex-Sei Per Tre, ex-Sfear, ex-Verbal Irony)

Link Phreek was born in Hungary, and lived in Italy for many years before moving to the US in the mid-to-late 90s, he seemed to have left the band sometime in 2005. I'm unsure if "Link" is his real name or just a nickname. Fitz seems to be the surname of the vocalist.

Known links:
- Bandmix
- Local Band Network
- Official site @ archive.org

Contact:
- Email: [email protected] (dead)
- Physical: 3041 Manchester Rd. Akron, Ohio 44319.

Nothing found, was decided to remove from the list. - 8 Ways 'till Sunday (United States)

Spoiler: show
AKA 8WTS, band from Brookfield Winsconsin. Started in 2003, last known activity was in late 2005. Genre is unknown but it might be somewhere between hardcore and symphonic metal, also possibly being nu though, but no music is available online. They released two demos:

Demo (October 2003, CD probably, actual name of the demo is unknown)
1. Shiver
2. Zombie
3. Funk 72
4. Dreamscape
5. Liquid Road
6. Alone
7. Summertime
8. Ride Like the Wind

8 Ways (04/07/2004, CD most probably)
1. Today
2. Fester
3. Closer
4. Sour
5. Presence

Cover art
Image

Both were surely CDs as I've stated, but I don't know where they could be found or bought, and they might have just been digital songs uploaded to their now-defunct page; research is needed.

Known members:
- Ron (Ronald Sankey) (Drums)
- Tony Seidl (Guitars) (Septembrist, ex-Excision, ex-Krook)
- Spark (Mark Thomas) (Vocals) (ex-Krook)
- Jerry (Bass, 2004-?)

- Mike Lesch (Bass)
- Steve Luedke (Keyboard, Samples)

Mike Lesch left the band at some point during 2003-2004, and Jerry was brought during July 2004 or earlier. Krook was a nu-metal band, they have a Reverbnation.

Links:
- Local Band Network
- Official site @ archive.org

LBN has little useful information. Their official site ran mainly on flash player, and while some of the flash stuff is still visible and can be interacted with, most of it is dead; there was a version for dial-up connections which was text-only but there's nothing valuable apart from some lyrics there.

Contact:
- Email: [email protected] (Ron)
- Email: [email protected] (Spark)
- Email: [email protected] (Jerry)
- Email: [email protected] (Tony)

Of course these emails are defunct, why am I adding them?

Update Paganius: The old studio homepage of Ron has several songs of 8 Ways till Sunday as exaples there, only one of which is listed as "metal".
https://web.archive.org/web/20050204014 ... ex_low.htm
Removed because it's very likely not a metal band.

Thanks, pag.
Regarding Jetlag: The band was recently submitted by Joe Cubbie, who was albe to find their official Bandcamp with proofs of valid releases, so I think, that they could be taken from the list, too:
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Jetlag/3540463425

I also think, that it could be worth to try to listen to the three Aisenmond songs, which I have found. They namely confirm the comparisons to Rammstein in the review. The first two songs soud like a mixture of Rammstein and OOmph! and the third song has also a mmedmedival rock elenents similar to The Merlons and Subway To Sally. So, nonone of the songs is metal imo.
Lastly, Tempus Fugit's name is still visible on the list for some reason. Could it be corrected? Thanks.

There's a total of 4 tracks on their Myspace.

Looking at their Myspace profile from Mid 2010, they just uploaded a demo songs called "Empty Life"
https://web.archive.org/web/20100629000 ... /koldtdoom

No trace of a supposed demo that was released that year.

Also that youtube description of Melangia says "This is our second demo, Melangia"...suggesting that it's just that one song?

What's your source for the "Only Ashes Will Remains" demo?

Private releases, hand to hand?

Don't forget to relate the band to Aeternal Mortuary. Their sole member is:

Added. - Access (Germany)
Spoiler: show
I tried to find samples from the "Eagles In The Air / The Turner" single of the German band Access, but couldn't find any.

Review ( http://thecorroseum.org/rev/access-eagl ... e-air.html ) describes one side as hard rock and B-side as metal, so probably not acceptable, but best to be sure though.

Added. - Apathy (US)
Spoiler: show
Style: Crossover

One more band I have found while reading through old MetalPage reviews archived on Corroseum (http://thecorroseum.org/rev/apathy-out-the-window.html).

This one is described as "playing a really interesting Crossover style while basically being a Metal band but several alternative/punky influences can be found on "Out the window" too". I am interested in how significant those "alternative/punky influences" are, but couldn't find any samples.

Two copies for sale in the US. Just in case someone wants to grab a copy. They ain't too expensive. Shipping it to Germany probably would though.

That's a pity, but the links still work for me normally.
What I did:
Step 1: I entered the Track 4 band profile
Step 2: I clicked on "Musik".
Step 3 : I scrolled to "Titel ohne Album".
Step 4 : I clicked onthe link underlined as "Ewigkeit geschenkt".
Step 5 : I was taken to something called Track 4 player. It offers diverse possibilities, for example to download the song, but I clicked on the "Play vido" button and the song started to play.
Then i repeated it with the two other songs.
Here is the direct link to the Ewigkeit geschenkt" song. mayb it will work this way?

More rock than metal. - Bastille (UK - NWOBHM)

Spoiler: show
Meant to post this a while back but got too busy, anyway, just asking in case anyone knows more about this band. I tried submitting a NWOBHM act called Bastille a few months ago on the back of a couple demos they claimed to have made (mainly the second demo), however I couldn't find photos of them. They appeared on a V/A compilation called "New Electric Warriors", and while it's proof they at least existed, that won't qualify as a physical release for their approval as you know. Was curious if anyone perhaps owns, or knows someone who owns their demos, or knows anything else at all about these guys. The band was active from 1979 to roughly '80 or '81 and their singer would eventually join Tank for a brief stint. It was said that Adrian Smith and Andy Barnett assisted them in making their demos.

Their 1979 demo had three songs:
1. Rock is My Life
2. Murder in the Rain (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnoHflf92MA)
3. Breakout (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEnn1LbtgYc)

Their 1980 demo had three songs as well. On the videos there's a band flyer showing some info which I used in my submission. Some band members commented on a couple of the videos, but don't seem to use YouTube actively so when I asked a couple questions I got no responses:
1. Hard Man (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOAUF9oiuTY)
2. You'd Better Run (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVm-74BGlOc)
3. Rock is My Life (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VI17O_mksG0)

Members of the band included (at various points in time):
Colin Woodgate on Bass
Mick Ransome on Drums
Paul Ward on Guitar (also played in DiAnno)
Richard Bull on Vocals (apparently joined Tank for only a few weeks)
Roger Bull on Drums
Mick Filby on Guitars
Lee Carroll on Guitars

And here's a little extra info, like their town of origin and a few other miscellaneous things about them: http://nwobhm.com/bastille/

Thanks for any help.

Here's a strange one. This demo that's currently on the French Ancestral's page is apparently by a different band. The guy from the band says they never had a demo by that name, and I'm inclined to believe it's not just a whitewashing attempt. The logo on the tape insert is completely different, and the text seems to indicate that the sole member was "Ögat", which doesn't fit with the other Ancestral either. Could it be this guy? No idea.

I'm leaving the page for that demo up for now to keep the info, but it would be great if we could find enough info to add the other band and move this release over.

Hey guys, regarding Ancestral, I found the audio from "My Garden of Solitude" : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQg9KvE ... e=youtu.be
As you said, the logo isn't the same, "Ögat" isn't part of the band neither. And here I'm adding that they are not sounding the same at all.
Here's the audio of "Seven path beyond" : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mwKU9tqtiY

The Ancestral from "My garden of solitude" sounds more like... well, not really black metal, there are some black metal-ish parts, but I don't know what genre put over this demo. And the Ancestral from "Seven Path beyond" is black/death metal "well played" I would say. So I really do think they aren't the same bands, but idk where does the one of Ögat come from, and I don't know if it's metal enough to be approved on the archives.

Needs research. - Gloryfication (pre-Suidakra)
Genre: Death/Thrash
Location: Germany

The Suidakra page says they recorded a demo when they were still calles Gloryfication, a demo called "XIII".
Found zero proof for the demo aside from 2 mentions in online want-lists, both list it as being from 1993 even though MA says the band was formed in 1994.
Want lists:
https://metaltrade.webs.com/requestlist.htm
http://metalarea.org/forum/index.php?sh ... id=1129153

The band's discography on their homepage starts in 1997, so that's of no help either.

Needs proof of its existence + samples. The note says Death/thrash hybrid, so it most likely is metal enough.

The demo was recently postedn on the HMR forum. The user Egbert 65, who got thanked in the Facebook post, apparently owns a phthe demo on Cassette, since he made a digital rip of it:

I sent a message to Suidakra, but they still haven't answered it :(

Featuring Joe Hasselvander on drums, they released one EP in 1981 entitled Bustin' Out! If anyone has a sample of the title track or better quality sounding versions of the two presented below, it'd be greatly appreciated.
"Rock N Roll Man": https://youtu.be/gN5QZiJ0Pqs
"Falling Star": https://youtu.be/vOlGzXjpT9I

I picked up a copy on Discogs. It's mainly hard rock; the two songs that weren't available are not metal at all.

Added. - Almatica(Heavy Metal, Argentina)

Spoiler: show
Name change of A.L.M.A.S., formed by Adrián Cenci sometime between 2004 and 2005. They play Heavy Metal/Hard Rock and are located in Buenos Aires City. Last known activity dates back to early 2018.

These are their known releases:

Biopsia (Demo, 2005):
1. Asesinos de la memoria
2. Como un estruendo
3. Condenado último
4. Libertad

Some sources say the demo had only 2 songs, while other say it had 4, but apparently a video was made for one of the songs and it aired on TV at the time.

Possible cover art:
Image

Voy a resistir (Full-lenght, incomplete apparently, between 2013-2018):
?. Aplastando mi existir
?. No volverá a vencer
?. Torturador
?. Voy a resistir

The source I'm getting this info from doesn't tell if the album was completed or not, and it doesn't state the tracklist for the songs, only the titles.

In Live (Live album, unknown release date):
?. Por la eternidad

The source lets you download a .rar which includes the song I listed, but there's nothing else to be known about this release or if it's even official.

Apparent cover art:

- Adrián Cenci (Drums, 2004-?, Vocals ?-present) (ex-V8, ex-Logos, ex-A.L.M.A.S., ex-14-22, ex-Agua Pesada)

- Pedro Bravo (Guitars) (Obsession)

- David Born (Vocals) (Hellion)

Known links:

- YouTube

- Source 1 - BaulRock
- Source 2 - El bus mas heavy
- Source 3 - Comunidadrocksociety (Mentions the Biopsia demo in a list)

Known contact:

EDIT: Found a news article which apparently confirms the existence and probable release of the band's full-length, but doesn't give any other vital information.

I wonder if Live Urban Sexx Tribe would be eligible for this site, they were a Sunset strip band and had Lemmy as a big fan. Robert Trujillo hooked them up with their producer, they broke up right before the release of their album in 1993 but it got released anyway a few years ago. Here is more info on them: https://roelvanrossum2.wixsite.com/liveurbansexxtribe

I came across this Japanese underground metal zine, Kabbala, issued in late 90's and early 2000's. On its official website, it provides two volumes of past releases, vol. 10 and 12 (released in 1996), which contains precious information about underground metal bands and their releases. For example, on P. 15 of vol 10, in the review section, there is a band Augus, described as Heavy & Power metal, with a cassette Satan's War Lord. This is nowhere to be found on the internet. I believe it is highly valuable to go through these two volumes and add the missing bands/albums. But alas, I do not understand Japanese, so I think it is proper to leave it to someone who does.

Tip: The pdf may not render Japanese characters correctly in a browser. Download it and open it in Adobe Reader.

Nice find!
For the record, there's a typo in your example (the cover art reveals that the band is called Argus and it's listed ;)

Those 'zines have quite a bit of info there that could be used to flesh out a number of entries already on the site. I can't read the kanji, should anyone like to fully mine these issues, but I'll try to collect info for potential additions here as I have the time via copy/paste.
>The zines<

Added. - Rabidly Dogs
Spoiler: show
(Heavy/Power Metal)

Bleed Out (demo, cassette, 199?)
1. Light and Shadow
2. I'm Flying
3. Mind to Do It!
4. Bleed Out

Members:
*Shunya - Vocals
*Chinpei - Bass, Vocals
*Hosni - Guitar, Vocals
*Tag - Drums

Based in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. Started 4-5 years ago (so around 1991 I guess?). Started off as a Hard Rock band but then moved into Thrash as a result of multiple changes of members. Key sentence probably: To the overall impression of a Bay Area sound has been added just a taste of a mixture of grunge and death metal, however, it must be said that the consistent momentum and pleasant flow is certainly based on metal. Name is an anime reference, so kinda hard to search for. Can't say I've ever seen a copy.

(Spooky - July 16, 2022) - pg. 15 has a review of the demo in Japanese language:

==========================================

Already listed. - Dazzle ("Thrash Industrial Noisecore")
Spoiler: show
Dead Line〜Live (promo, cassette, 199?, no tracklist given)

It's listed as a four-piece "Thrash Industrial Noisecore" group. It's possible this is just an undocumented promo tape for this Dazzle from Tokyo, but someone more Japanese fluent will need to confirm that.

That Dazzle seems to be the already listed one from what I gathered. They at least described themselves as "INDUSTRIAL NOISE CORE THRASH" on their old, old homepage:
https://web.archive.org/web/20090831080 ... ofile.html

But wouldn't hurt to have someone who's fluent in Japanese have a look at it.

billm99uk wrote:
The Dazzle already listed began in 1996, according to the old website, which would fit the date of the 'zine. Only problem is they're listed as mainly active in Chiba Prefecture and their address is in Kashiwa City, Chiba. If its the same band they must have relocated to Tokyo but since Kashiwa is all of 40km from central Tokyo its not the biggest move and it seems unlikely two bands with the same name and theme would be around at the same time.

Tape could be this one: http://aduma8.shop-pro.jp/?pid=66025020 but the picture is so bad I can't tell.

==========================================

Probably not acceptable (based on Google translate):

*Eat Red Meat - Isolation (described as "punkish rock n roll")
*ガムテジ - 歌と踊りが ギッシリつ まったリズムの爆弾!! (described as hardcore)
*Chop - Let's Enjoy Present Time! (described as a mix of several things including hip-hop, grind, and reggae)

Sorry if I am going off-topic with this, but for most of the bands I don't know the genre or country of origin, so I am providing only one post

While listening to some songs on YouTube, I have found this list (after 2:20 mark), which lists several bands not listed here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3aL3f5PNWA
Some of the bands are obviously not acceptable (such as hardcore band Direct Action or hard rock RockDolls: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCh1BgG ... KCHpnsRocw and Holy Soldier). However, there are several band that I have some doubts about:

(Spooky): The Ataxia demo on this list had a false title, but I've confirmed with absolute certainty (from a band member) that it is the New York band. The "Lack of Order" saying was on one of their t-shirts, but isn't the demo's title. Other titles on this same list may also be incorrect, taking this into consideration.

Probably the Providence, Rhode Island hardcore band. - Idle Rich
Spoiler: show
(The Ultimate Evil demo, 1989 and Prime Evil demo 1988)
(Spooky) - hardcore band from around Providence, Rhode Island w/ guitarist Don Sanders?
https://hardcoreshowflyers.net/?s=idle+rich

Too broad of a search, not enough detail. - Wild (Three Song demo)
Spoiler: show
(Spooky: possibly the UK band w/ drummer Steve Hopgood ( https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... pgood/9405 ) (?) or this band: https://dunsyscupboardofmetal.wordpress ... 5/09/wild/

Already on site - minor name change from Uncle Scam. - Scam

Probably the New York hardcore band that was local to them. - Raw Deal
(Living Evil)

Rock. - Shame
Spoiler: show
Shame (1988 demo) – I guess it's this one: https://demolitionbook.blogspot.com/2018/01/shame.html

Already listed - New York band. - Ataxia. - (Lack of Order)

Not metal (see The Metal Collection Vol. III compilation). - Paint It Black.(UK demo)

Rock. - Hellden -
Spoiler: show
(The Wet T-Shirt Tapes, 1988) – saw it mentioned only here (maybe also a useful list): http://amethystmetal.blogspot.com/2010/ ... 18_02.html
(Spooky - saw this in someone's collection, so can confirm its existence and correct title)

Regarding Live Urban Sexx Tribe: It was apparently a hard rock/funk band in the style of Love/Hate, not really metal.

This is not the place for pre-checks. If you think it's metal, submit it, otherwise don't.
This thread is for bands where people are unable to find one crucial piece of info they need before they can submit it.
That's mostly samples of the music or proof for a valid release.
Live Urban Sexx Tribe has a webshop and tons of samples everywhere.
