Needs research. - Deeth Breed
Genre: Heavy Metal
Location: Fukui, Fukui Prefecture, Japan
Band members: Shigeru Yamashita (Bass), Tatsuya Maluba (Drums), Masahiro Yoshikawa (Guitars), Koichiro Takamura (Vocal)
Discography: ‘Begun THE END’ (Cassette, 4 tracks, 1986)
Pictures: https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/u1076482834
Spelling as per band logo. Member names are from the auction pics: they’re a bit out of focus and my eyesight is not the best, so cannot guarantee they’re exactly right. Found a 2018 interview with the front man and band leader, who is apparently now running his family’s (metal) knife-making business in nearby Echizen (cue obvious gag from interviewer!). Have listed band base as Fukui City though as all of the gig listings I can find for them are at well known venue ‘Fukui CHOP’ in that city. Auction seller describes them as ‘Dramatic and hard music in the Scandinavian style.’ Haven’t found any samples or reviews yet though, though they do seem to have performed at least as late as 2012.

Re ‘Female Bellmer’ I mentioned earlier in the thread, from the ‘Hakata Metal Army’ compilation tape. It turns out to be a band from Fukuoka with a female vocalist (logical, I guess!) and I’ve picked up a demo tape cheap. Only one song, unfortunately, but hopefully they didn’t go with a balladic number! Will submit if it sounds reasonable.

Needs research. - RIP
Location: Algeciras, Andalusia, Spain
Genre: Heavy Metal/Hard Rock
Members:
- Salvador Parra (drums)
- Juan J. Tamayo (guitars)
- Rubén J. Tamayo (bass)
- Manuel Correro (vocals), later replaced by a guy named Sebastián M. Guerrero (unknown whether before or after changing its name).
Might have more band members before 1985.
A HQ photo:
https://www.facebook.com/algecirasmovid ... 988883042/
They later changed their name to Sherezade and later to Shalom (ending up playing melodic hard rock and releasing an album in 1989). Salvador Parra played in thrash metal band Maniac since late 1986.
Discography: "Requiem in Pace" demo tape (~1985)
Physically released, as shown here (timestamp 2:37):

A2: Gritos en el cielo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQciyxhYvI0
A3: Mátalo
B1: Dame tu amor
B2: Flipa!!!

Cover art and some track titles are promising, but I still need some more audios to be sure they are more heavy metal than hard rock.

Needs research. - Rosa Negra

Discography: Unknown. I've downloaded this compilation made by a fanzine with an mp3 by this band. The song is called "Inmortal":

Added. - Severed Fate
Spoiler: show
Location: Manahawkin, New Jersey, USA
Genre: Metalcore, may be something else (described as thrash)

Jay Bakker (Bass)
Rick Bakker (Guitar)
Phil Beam (Guitar)
Brian Kunze (Drums)
Rich Witzig (Vocals)

http://www.librariusmetallicus.com/Album/view/15242
Demo in mp3 format: https://www.mediafire.com/file/f7ewpt6x ... o.rar/file

Finding anything on this band is surprisingly difficult. Myspace lists a Dawn of Decay EP and an album called Procrastinate (edit: wrong Severed Fate myspace, oops), however there was a CDr demo with four tracks (tracklist unknown) that the band left on peoples' cars at Sounds of the Underground 2006 when it was held in Sayreville, NJ (I have the copy that was left on the car that I got to that show in, but it was just a burned CDr with a sticker included).

Procrastinate belongs to another Severed Fate (UK):
https://www.discogs.com/release/6592092 ... crastinate
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3kKAfAvZL0&t=12s (see video description)

About your Severed Fate (USA), here's their ReverbNation:
https://www.reverbnation.com/severedfate

Here's a valid release:
https://soundcloud.com/rich-witzig/sets/severed-fate
Artwork + Downloadable tracks on a member's page. Should be alright to submit.
The EP (tracks + artwork) are available for download on ReverbNation as well but they're not in the correct order.

Huh, I couldn't find that Reverbnation. It also helped me figure out the actual tracklist for the demo:
1. Relentless
2. Never to Awaken
3. Buried Alive
4. Dawn of Decay

I don't know if that demo actually counts as an acceptable release as it has no cover, it's just a burned CDr with sharpie-written text in a generic pouch with a sticker.

The Severed Fate SoundCloud page where you can download those songs looks fine for a release. If you include the CD-R that you have it would be helpful in the submission, as well. Should be fine, though. Thanks.

A bit of information about Cuban bands from the list "BALDADEATH RESEARCH LIST". Not much, but maybe it will help in further research.

Spoiler: show
ALIANZA- among others, ex Zesus vocalist Abel Rodríguez and guitarist Hansel Arrocha Sala (see: Urania). Arrocha ( later Zeus) not Arroca as reported by MA.
APOCALIPSIS- Thrash metal band formed in 1991 in Matanzas. Members were: Lázaro Villalonga and Julio Suarez on guitars, Yosmani (el Gnomo) was on drums and Carlos Comas on bass. For the group a few singers passed by, but most of them Daniel Corra was stable.

E.P.D.- (en paz descanse in English R.I.P.) Heavy metal band from Holguín, heavily influenced by Iron Maiden, formed in 1989. The "Metal EPD" demo was released in 1991. Rolando Rosa later joined S.O.S.

KARMA- The band of bass player Raciel (see: Láser, Metalaxia, Vortex) and guitarist Ionel Munoz, who later replaced Rodolfo in Vortex. Not to be confused with the hard-core band Karma from Artemisa who recorded the "Virtual Madness" demo.

LÁSER- Thrash metal band formed in 1986 in Sierra de Cubitas. After the band broke up, Raciel (see: Karma, Metalaxia, Vortex) and Sonny founded Spectrum in 1989. Andrés Rojas, Láser's drummer died in 1997.

SÚNESIS- founded by Eduardo Pinelo (bg, voc) and Carlos Pinelo (voc, g) later leaders of Ultranza.

TRANCE- A Havana-based band founded by Ariel Bustamante Suárez (see: From the Abyss, Congregation, Trendkill) that ran for two seasons. The first began in June 1989 and lasted until July 1992. In early 1992, Frank "Paquito" Mosquera (ex-Viceversa) replaced Johany Fernandez. In October 1995, the group returned. In 1998, William Bonachea (died April 22, 2020, see DNA, Estripe, Tenaz, Challenger) and Agustín La O (see: DNA, Metal Oscuro, Congregation) joined. Finally in 1999 they broke up.

ULTRANZA- Thrash Metal from Pinar del Rio, founded in 1991. Sergio Ernesto Puente former drummer of Metal Sagrado was their vocalist, later in Sarcoma and Tendencia.

URANIA- Founded by Raymet Salazar and Hansel Arrocha (they both played with Alianza) and Ariel Soler (see: Enigma) and Ionel Munoz (see: Karma)

VALHALA- Band from Placetas, active in 1992-93, led by former Masacre guitarist Ivan Mayea, later in Kaiser, Vortice, Scythe.

VICEVERSA- The band was founded in 1991 with Virgilio Torres as vocalist (see Tenaz) and Francisco "Paquito" Mosquera (see OVNI, Zeus, etc.). Angel Luis later played for Challenger.

VORTEX- Progressive Heavy metal from Camagüey. Disbanded shortly after Raciel's death, in December 1994, in a road accident. See: Karma, Láser, Metalaxia

(Spooky) - Thanks. These were all moved to the Cuban research thread.

Thanks for this awesome post of information on Cuban bands. Have just added it to the one ongoing here, which is linked from the first post of the thread:
viewtopic.php?p=3070499#p3070499

I made a few edits to artists on the site that are involved with bands on this list, and included a couple of additional notes that hopefully will help people to become aware of these bands and continue to dig up more information over time.

Really appreciate the helpful post, Zygmunt. There's a ton of information, plus references to other interesting-sounding bands not yet brought up in here.

I'm glad it was of some help. Unfortunately, a lot of information is still unclear, that's why I only give titles of demos when I'm 100% sure that they have been released officially.

ARIES- Founded in November 1987 in Holguín. Many musicians have passed through the band, including Gustavo Adolfo Ascencio- bg (Destrozer, Mephisto, S.O.S., Cuerpo Y Alma), Rodolfo Ricardo "Fofi"- g (Cuerpo Y Alma, Montserrat), Fidel Brizuela- g (E.P.D., Abstracto) , Amilkar Israel Guerra-voc (Abstracto, Cuerpo Y Alma, Mephisto, S.O.S.), Alexander Peña Ochoa- g (Luna Negra), Alidranad Garcia-dr (Cuerpo Y Alma) and several others.

HADES- Group from Havana, founded in Playa, active in the years 1987-1989 by singer Tomaides Cobas (Venus, Stratus, LCD) and bassist Jorge Luis Barba (Hades, Venus). Not to be confused with the band Hadez from Sancti Spiritus.

S.A. - Formed in Havana in 1994 by bassist Jorge Luis Barba (Hades, Venus), the heavy metal band has a demo "For sale" released in 1995

S.O.S- Cultivating a style between Thrash and Heavy, it was formed in Holguín in May 1993. He has released two demo tapes: After All (1995) and Unplugged TV (1996). They broke up in 1999. They reappeared a year later with a completely changed line-up, making their own rock-pop songs. In the "times of metal" the following musicians played in the band (among others): José Gerian Durán Reyes (Mephisto), Rolando Rosa (E.P.D.), Amilcar Israel Guerra (Cuerpo Y Alma, Mephisto, Aries), Jonier Rodriguez Sales (Morbo), Pedro Legrá (Destrozer) and others.

THE WINDOW- A band founded by former Lignum Crucis musicians Carlos Estevez and Angel Ortega and Erich Gómez Martínez, later in Agonizer.
PS
In an earlier post about Lignum Crucis, I wrote that they formed a band called The Widow. This is a mistake resulting from suggesting an incorrect entry in the BALDADEATH list.

Have added this new information to the Cuban metal research list (and some bits of it to the site, where able to). Cuban metal now has its own header and link from the first page/post in the research thread. I'll alphabetize the bands in there sometime soon.
Zygmunt, there are a few bands that you mentioned having recordings, and I wondered if you have any audio clips or reviews of their music that you'd be willing to share (either here, in a submission, or pm) if they had a release, so that they could be added to the site?

Okulary
Scrah - "1 demo" - found this clip, but am not sure if it is part of their official release and don't have information about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnCX187-Sog
Undersight - power/thrash description is helpful. Were "Know Your Limits" demo and "No mas" album released? (2000)
E.P.D. - "Metal EPD"
Lignum Crucis "In Extremis" demo (Jan. 1993)
S.O.S. - "After All" demo ('95), "Unplugged TV" demo ('96)
Primacy "Haters of Humanity" (this would be fine to be added from hearing the re-recording link that you posted before, if it can be confirmed that either the original or re-recorded version were released)

Thanks a lot. Hopefully, since you created the original post you have the ability to also edit that research area.

Needs research. - The Hammer
https://www.discogs.com/release/2564686 ... le-Of-Fire
- produced by Rogga Johansson
This is out on Steelbreaker Records, which is basically the rip-off label Metal Bastard Enterprises under a different name. Supposedly features this more recent addition to Accept's line-up:
https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... tnik/23744
Label owner was recently involved in downright lies in order to get hype about a release by Battle Axis, falsely claiming that it featured Hammerfall and Helloween members on a sticker on the front of each copy (verified by a band member not to be the case). They're (Metal Bastard) also the label that made those 2 fake https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Defecation/2907 albums, make compilations without getting permission from some of the bands, etc. Best to proceed with caution with any release on this and related labels. Don't enter Motnik in as a member without doing first-hand research, despite major distribution which would lead you to believe they're not at a stage where they'd need to lie about their products.

Thanks a lot. Hopefully, since you created the original post you have the ability to also edit that research area.

Unfortunately I can't help much with: E.P.D., Lignum Crucis. I don't have their digital tapes and no reviews of their demos. Sorry.

I'll try to dig up the Okulary. I should have their CD somewhere. Or I can find them online. I think I saw them.

Scrah unfortunately didn't record a demo, he did some songs for a local radio station. See link: https://imgur.com/a/2ImMYPk

Undersight and S.O.S. - is it enough ? I can't find anything else at the moment

Primacy was founded in December 1996. I gave the original line-up earlier. The following month, a demo of "Haters of Humanity" was recorded. - at least according to Alex.
Lately he's been re-recording his old bands' albums with new members.

Hi,
Yes - there's enough gathered now that Undersight and S.O.S. can be added.

I found some more information on Okulary (3 members, track listing of the album, and audio of 2 songs/a music video for one). I think we need to find samples of the full release, since of the songs available one sounds metal, and the other not as much.
Formed in 2013. Released "The Way" CD the same year.
https://www.youtube.com/@javguilartefer ... ry=okulary
Full track listing and cover art can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmPRQRl5-K8
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/448389706647438248/
Members: Sofía Guilarte - vocals, guitars
Víctor Manuel Ponce de León Atiés - bass.
Ray Mora Iglesia - drums
- second guitarist: name unknown
(all 3 later played/play in El Mundo de Sofia)
1 or more members of of Okulary also played in:
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Abaddon/3540372871
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/N% ... 3540419198
(neither of the 3 known members listed above are in the line-up of either of these band's pages, though. Maybe the unknown second guitarist played in one or both of these bands? Either way, there seems to be a credit missing on Abaddon or Nemesis' page somewhere. It can be noted that in an interview with Sofia, she says that Ray and Victor had played in at least one band together previously)

For Primacy, the music is definitely metal, but it would be best to wait to confirm that they released a demo. I moved Scrah to the bottom of the Cuban Metal research list, with spoiler brackets around the information that we obtained (since someone interested in music from the area could still find it useful), but we don't have to keep searching since there isn't a valid release. Hopefully E.P.D. and Lignum Crucis music, or a review will turn up sometime. They're actively listed in the Cuba research post as something to watch for.

Thanks for all of your help!

Thanks! There's a lot of information about them here now. Hopefully the full CD will become available at some point.

A couple of obscure bands not on the site had songs on an early '90s death/thrash metal/crossover compilation tape, "Lowland-Terror #I":
Needs research. - Witchcraft Vulture
Contact name: Steinbock
Bierbeek, Flemish Brabant, Belgium
Release: "Sacrificed Sinflesh" demo (features songs "The Pentagram" and "Rot in Pieces")
Needs research. - R.O.T.
Location: Retie, Antwerp, Belgium
Contact: last name Mertens
Release: "???iracial" demo (first part of the title is cut off - possibly/probably "Biracial") (features song "Dear God")

Cuban band research list has been alphabetized, and the bands from there on Baldadeath's research list were moved to that area (so they can be all in one place, and band names searched for within one page).

Not metal. - Overload
Spoiler: show
Location: Italy
Genre: Unknown, possibly metal
Discography: "Tapes from the Outer Space" (1987 demo), "Live on Mars" (cassette on Hanging Rock label, year unknown, cat. # 011. Track listing: (a) Customer Is Always Right / Touch / Take Your Revolution / Give Me Protection, (b) Pasdaran / The Smile.
- possible, though unlikely they belong to the band on the site by this name, as their only known release was from 2002 and there's better reason to believe they're the Overload that did the '95 CD mentioned below. Just saw these in an eBay auction where some very rare metal cassettes were also being sold. Don't know anything about them other than this. Sold separately, but assuming they're both the same band. Auction shows covers only.
https://imgur.com/hpwPcD2
The same shop had an Overload CD for sale that is on Discogs, "The Cage" (1995), with a band line-up and track listing (confirming not the same band on M.A.), but it doesn't lead to much in web searches and is listed as indie rock. Not sure that this is the same band as the cassettes mentioned above. Hopes not too high on this band, I guess, but you never know until you hear it or read a review that you can believe.
https://www.discogs.com/release/1478003 ... d-The-Cage

Needs research. - Denny St. Patrick
Listed genre: Heavy Metal/Shred
Demo tape (1980s, year unlisted; track listing: Hail to the King / Take Up the Cross / Sweet Surrender / Thy Kingdom Come / Return of the Prodigal) Maxell commercial dubbing tape with hand-written titles.
Auction description: "This is pretty much instrumental shred metal. The sound is a bit muddy, and the drums are possibly programmed, but the guy can play and write some good shred tunes. There are some transitions that slip a little here and there that a studio or several takes could smooth out, but not too bad!"
eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/255912415561

Needs research. - Deadend
Location: Shumen, Bulgaria
Genre: Thrash Metal. Active 1988-1997.
Band members: https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... rov/660477 (vocals, guitars), Ivaylo Filipov - guitar, Tihomir Tashev - bass, Kiril Goranov - drums
Recorded a couple of songs in late '95 that are on YouTube. Discography unknown.

Needs research. - Misantry
Genre: Thrash/Heavy Metal
- new band. They just put the "Regression" demo/EP on YouTube a few days ago, consisting of 3 songs. Pretty good stuff - one to check back on to see if they do a release of some kind.

Added. - Cadaveres de Tortugas
Spoiler: show
Location: Hungary
Genre: Groove/Thrash Metal?/Hardcore (early), Nu-Metal (later)

This band was just submitted based on their first two albums and the demo "La Sangre No Miente" which were all too borderline to cut it. The band has two other early demos that are labeled as thrash on Discogs. One is "Stigmatized Eye" from 1994 and the other is "Turtles Ahead" from 1995. So far I have not been able to locate these online.

Obscure Nazi garbage that's shown up on a pair of samplers in recent years. I can't really find anything about them outside of mentions for these splits, including any samples to judge them with. They appeared on 2015's Imutável Beligerância 4-way split, and one of those tracks was later reused on 2017's Nuclear War at the Times of the Gods 6-way sampler.

While I lack samples, the Imutável Beligerância split actually divides the tape into "R.A.C." & "Black Metal" sides, with Semen Holokhaoz appearing on the later, so it's plausible they would make the cut with proper samples.

Found a seller for the Imutável Beligerância tape off Discogs for only €7, so I picked it up and am waiting for shipping details. That will give us samples for both of their existing tracks for a definitive evaluation.

"Rare original CD from this metallic hard rock band on their own label. Strong doom tunes with killer guitar action" says one of the listings. The other has the tags Grunge, Doom/Sludge Metal. There isn't really much to be found online about this band, surprisingly (at least through a basic Google search). Might be worth picking up. Gus is a good drummer and played in some excellent bands.
